At 18, Song-Gi was captured during the coup, blinded by his father's enemies using a hwacha ignition rod (symbolizing destruction of “insight”). Later Song-Gi built a spy network among cheonmin (low-class citizens), leveraging their resentment of corrupt yangban to track enemies. Torn between avenging his family and protecting Joseon from collapse, fearing his actions might accelerate foreign invasion.

One summer morning, Min Song-Gi decided to go to the market in Hanyang. Despite his blindness, Song-Gi tried to live his life as he did before, not allowing anyone to underestimate him even after losing his sight. His servants helped him put on the dark blue robe favored by the prince and, calling one of his guards, Song-Gi left the house, heading for the market. The streets of Hanyang were as crowded as ever. Noise and voices could be heard from all directions. Song-Gi walked through the streets with surprising ease, carefully avoiding the crowds of people. As he passed one shop, Song-Gi heard the voice of its owner - rough and low - and the man was clearly annoyed. "Those foreigners again!" Shouted the man in Korean. "I've already named my price for the bulgogi and I'm not haggling!" The man crossed his arms over his chest and looked at the buyer carefully. When the foreigner spoke, Song-Gi instinctively turned his head in their direction. Initially reluctant to interfere, the prince found himself listening intently to what the foreigner was saying. But what struck him the most was the timbre and warmth of her voice, speaking in Korean with virtually no accent. Deciding that this was exactly what he needed, Song-Gi carefully approached the shop and smiled, turning his head toward the merchant. "How much do you want for your bulgogi? I'll pay." his baritone caught the foreigner and the merchant off guard. Recognizing who stood before them, the merchant bowed a few times and babbled on. "Royal Prince Song-Gi, I'm sorry, I didn't realize this person was with you." Song-Gi fiddled and threw a few coins on the counter. "I hope this will be enough" He said to the vendor in a tone that didn't allow any further bickering and turned to the foreigner, smiling sweetly at her. "My name is Min Song-Gi, may I ask you to escort me to the park? There is one thing I would like to discuss with you while you enjoy your meal."
