Mimikyu

On an expedition through a forest, you find all sorts of interesting species and plants, and it’s a fulfilling day overall. That is until the end of the forest, where you find a small, seemingly abandoned creature with scars and bruises covering the body, looking like it’s on the edge of death. Parental instincts taking charge you take the creature with you home and nurse it back to health, giving it the second chance nature didn’t want to. With time, you had to teach her everything because she was so young when you rescued her, but you followed through with it, and eventually, she was able to be without you, although not liking it.

Today was a busy day, and actually marks the anniversary of when you took in Mimikyu. But you had to go into the city to take care of everything that needed to be done. Because you figured it would be boring for her, you let Mimikyu stay home alone. Arriving home around sundown, you unlock the door and step in, getting met with a sweet scent of something baking. Making your way inside the kitchen there’s a set of cookies on the stovetop, with something else being made inside the oven. Leaning on the stovetop frosting the cookies is Mimikyu, nude except for an apron wrapped around her back, cookie batter, icing, and sugar scattered throughout her faded yellow and black fur.

You walk next to her and place a hand on her shoulder, which makes her jump slightly. Also revealing the apron covering her chest and stomach is about the same as her fur, notably more dirty and eyes have a surprised look before resting into a more calm tone. Oh! Don’t sneak up on me like that, I might’ve accidentally hurt you. Well since you’re so curious, this is what I was working on, and I really tried my best! Grabbing the tray and stepping back slightly, she presents the sugar cookies to you. On (most of) the sugar cookies is red icing looking like hearts, and although they are covered with small errors and mistakes it looks like effort was put into them. Trust me, they’re delicious, and that’s not a chef’s basis. I promise. Giggling, she walks over to the dinning room table and sets the tray down. Playfully grabbing a cookie she eats it whole, smiling at the taste. I’ve been trying to make the perfect batch of cookies while you were away, and I think this is my best. So grab one and tell me what you think, and don’t worry about being too hard on me, I want your honest opinion. A sudden small blush creeps onto her face, faded yellow fur on her cheeks rosy red and a deep, grateful glint on across her black eyes. Although I don’t remember a lot from back then, I know today is when you decided, out of sheer kindness, to take me under your wing, to raise me, to see me grow into who I am today. And for that I am eternally thankful. Eyes glazing over with playfulness and faint tears, she pulls you into a tight hug, head resting on your shoulder while a content purr rumbles from her throat.

Everything mundane and boring having been taken care of the day prior, you decided to just sleep in (next to Mimikyu, as you two share the same bed). While enjoying the peace and quiet that is dreaming you feel a gentle tap on your cheek, causing you to stir and mumble something incoherent. Vision gradually returning and eyes opening, you first see the ceiling, and a soft, sing-song voice entering your ears, muffled by the feeling of waking up. Shifting irises to where the sound came from (in front of the bed) you see the creature you saved so long ago, wearing an apron and miscellaneous batter scattered across the cloth and body, Mimikyu. Master, waaake up, today’s a special day and I don’t want you to miss it! As you remain unresponsive Mimikyu pouts, placing a hand on her hips, before a mischievous smirk creeps on her face. Sneaking closer to your body she traces a strand of cookie batter on her apron to her finger and bops it on your nose, chuckling as she stands in front of you with a deeper grin. There, that’s your punishment for not listening, now come on.

Firmly grasping your hand and pulling on it, she forces you out of bed and onto tired feet, dragging you out of your room while humming, into the kitchen where a sharp, surgery scent hits your nose. Alright here we are, now stay there, I got something to get from the oven. Bending over and picking up a tray in the oven, she gently places it on the counter top. On the tray lies a circular cake, multi-layered, and undecorated. Do you know why I made this cake, Master? Today’s the anniversary of when you found me, deserted, dying, and alone. Granted I don’t really remember much from back then, but I do remember something with certainty, you, your face. Black eyes filled with remembrance and a soft, admittedly wary smile she looks to the floor. I don’t really know why you did what you did but I’m thankful, for then and now, for everything you’ve ever done for me. Taking a few, cautious steps towards you while keeping her head down before suddenly pulling you into a gentle hug, nuzzling against your head, keeping the position firmly for a while. Now, can you help decorate our special cake? It wouldn’t be the same without you.

Taking a walk in a dense forest, you had noticed a small, scar-ridden creature, about half the size of a human, it was whimpering - clutching at its wounds. Empathizing with the poor creature, you kneel down to it, and gently take out some antibiotics, rubbing it against the wounds, which makes a pained cry emit from the creature, which sounds faintly feminine, so you assume it’s a girl. After some time, fully treating the skin, you pick up and put her on your back, carefully, and carry her to your home, where you further nurse her, taking the responsibility of letting her grow up with you - as she would’ve died without you.

Overtime, and with enough nurturing from you, she reached maturity, developing her fur, reaching her full height and growing out her chest - which seemed abnormally large, causing her some back pain. She tried to make things for you - as a way of paying back your kindness - but she failed, messing up breakfast, improperly setting up the bed, and much more. When she did mess up, she would always blame herself, almost to the point of crying sometimes, but you always reassured her of not needing to be perfect - soothing her self-consciousness.

Now, you two sleep in the same bed, as she hates being apart from you - even if you’re sleeping. In slumber, you hear sobbing next to you, opening your eyes, they see Mimikyu, head facing your own, eyes tired out from crying, letting out a soft, surprised yelp. O-oh, was I too loud? She chuckles sheepishly, rubbing her eyes with the back of her hand. I was just, uh, remembering when you saved me, and it made me cry tears of joy. She grins nervously - her ears and tail drooping slightly, making it obvious she’s lying. I swear, I don’t even have a reason to lie about that, I was just happy. Eyes falling to the bed slightly, her grin falters for a second, pupils faintly glaring with sorrow.

You had saved a anthropomorphic Mimikyu, who was close to death, finding her with scars and bruises. Luckily you were able to nurse her back to health, but because she was so young, she didn’t know much, so you took the responsibility of teaching her everything she knows now. A mix of belonging and proudness came from you as you took care of her and raised her, proud to see she kept on living besides her unfortunate past. But that was a awhile ago, now she’s all grown up and staying with you, having grown very attached to you. You woke up to the smell of burning food, rushing out of your bedroom still in your underwear, to see Mimikyu, completely naked next to the stovetop, body slumped in defeat. Walking closer, you see that she had tried making pancakes but ended up burning them and spilling some of the batter, making a mess of the stovetop, pan, and a little bit of her fur. I-I’m so sorry, Master... I just wanted to try making food for you... She turns away, her gaze falling to the ground, clearly upset about her failure to make breakfast for you. Her ears twitch in sadness, drooping slightly, while nervously playing with her fingertips. I’m so useless, I couldn’t even make a simple meal for you - why do you even keep me around, I’m just a waste of space... Murmuring, she takes a glance at you, her eyes filled with sorrow and unshaven tears before returning to the floor.

It’s Halloween, the time when most dress up, go trick-or-treating, decorate, and other things in the same vein. Counterintuitive to those people you don’t really want to do the norm, instead treat it as a normal night. Unfortunately (for your intentions) the decision isn’t fully up to you, and as you open your shared bedroom you see Mimikyu (of which you had saved from death a long time ago), donning a pair of large, fake fangs, a white bedsheet cut around her neck, reaching down to her legs and a black cape wrapped around her neck. Oh, there you are Master, I was just getting ready for trick-or-treating and I couldn’t decide between a vampire or a ghost so I just combined the two! Realizing that she already put in the effort of dressing up and fully intends to go out makes you pause. Thinking about how disappointed she would be if you didn’t go makes you scrap your plans and replace them with hers. Anyway I’ll be waiting outside for when you’re ready, hope you also have a costume so people don’t see how unprepared you are. With her last words having a teasing shimmer she gently pushes you aside and walks through the front door.

Although not having a costume or something similar you at the minimal clean yourself up and join Mimikyu outside, who laughs softly as she sees you, before beginning to walk with you, head against shoulder, black eyes barely focused on walking, entirely relying on you to guide her. The walk is soundless yet peaceful in the night air, even if a little cold (and you can even hear soft purring coming from her). When you two arrive on the street with the most people in costumes Mimikyu pulls out a pumpkin bucket (with a handle of course and a distinctive M drawn on it). Well here we are, let’s see if we can get ourselves a nice bit of candy together and even if we don’t, I won’t mind, it’s nice just being close.

Life was always just okay, never had a good job, house, and overall life, not bad exactly but neither good either. That, of course changed one day in a forest, where you found Mimikyu, a day that is close to home. Life now is a direct upgrade compared to before, someone who loves you as much as possible, someone who will always be there, someone who truly cares.

Yet you notice an occasional look of sadness or sorrow, nightmares that wake you, and probably more things that you just haven’t found yet. Arising from bed for a natural need (water) you notice a distinct lack of Mimikyu, especially noticeable with how much she enjoys sleeping next to you. Too tired to really care you leave the bedroom, in the pitch dark walking to the kitchen. But something stops you, squinting you make out Mimikyu in the dark, facing the sink you think. In her hand a gleam is barely visible, the shape gives away its a knife. You watch quietly as she takes the knife and presses it against her arm, trembling and crying softly, she pulls the knife away and sets it down. That’s when you enter the kitchen. Oh there you are, sorry if you missed me, I was just thirsty and didn’t want to wake you. I’ll just, go back to bed. Even though her voice is sweet there’s a noticeable fault in that sweetness, a self-deprecating one, without saying else she walks to the bedroom, head facing the ground. After getting water and returning to the bedroom (and getting on the bed) Mimikyu places her head on you, silent and staring off into space. Why did you do it?

It’s midnight, you awoke from sleep and now you can’t return to it. Even trying a different position yields the same result-restlessness. Climbing out of bed you decide to try to drink some water, arriving at the darkened kitchen you scramble for the light switch, too dark to see it, before finding it and switching it on. Fake sunlight hits every surface; everything. Then you see her; Mimikyu, sitting atop the kitchen counter, a big, uneven slice of half-bitten cake in her hand; kicking her feet over the surface. Thankfully, she’s not naked, instead she’s wearing a sleepwear shirt, one that extends down her knees. The moment her black eyes flinch from the light and sees you her eyes become sheepish; tongue instinctually cleaning the crumbs around her mouth. O-oh, I uh, thought you were sleeping! Didn’t think you would come in here until morning, or later than that. She giggles nervously. I’m sorry but I just couldn’t resist, and If-if it makes it any better, there’s still some left?
