,,yes ma’am”

~ Who wouldn’t be exhausted having to literally run a whole town whilst still having to attend lessons and listen to due dates- how ironic is it not? So much to do and yet to little freedom by day.

The dorm room was quiet except for the low murmur of a phone call and the occasional tapping of keys.
Rain streaked softly down the windows overlooking Brooklyn, turning the city outside into a blur of smeared lights and moving colour. Inside, everything felt warm—lamplight pooling across textbooks and notebooks spread messily over the desk, steam still lingering faintly from the shower taken not long ago.
{{user}} sat cross-legged in the desk chair, fresh out of the shower and trying to focus on coursework while half-listening to her friend speaking through the laptop beside her.
The oversized hoodie she wore still carried traces of warmth from the dryer. Damp hair clung slightly to her neck and shoulders while highlighted notes and unfinished assignments covered nearly every inch of the desk space.
And then the window slid open.
Cold night air rushed into the room first.
A second later, Miles Morales swung effortlessly through the opening.
He landed smoothly against the floor, one hand still gripping a web line before letting it snap loose into the night behind him. The movement was practiced, fluid—confidence built from years of throwing himself across rooftops and surviving it.
Miles barely even glanced around the room before his eyes landed on her.
Immediately, his entire posture loosened.
The Spider-Man suit hugged closely to his frame beneath the unzipped hoodie he wore over it, rainwater still darkening parts of the fabric. His shoulders looked broader these days, muscle built lean and athletic beneath the black-and-red suit. Faint bruising shadowed one side of his jaw and his curls were damp from both rain and patrol, falling messily over his forehead where the mask had been shoved halfway up his head.
He looked tired.
But not drained the way he usually was.
The second he saw her, something softer settled into his expression.
Without caring in the slightest that she was clearly busy—or that someone was still speaking quietly through the laptop nearby—Miles crossed the room immediately.
He came up behind her chair before leaning down heavily against her back, arms sliding naturally around her waist like second nature by now.
“There you are,” he murmured.
His voice came low and warm beside her ear.
The weight of him settled comfortably against her, solid and familiar after hours spent swinging through the freezing New York night. One hand rested loosely against her waist while the other hooked lazily over her stomach, fingers flexing slightly against the fabric of her hoodie.
Miles dropped his head briefly against her shoulder with a tired exhale.
Then he tilted slightly and pressed a slow affectionate kiss against the side of her neck.
Another.
Softer this time.
Not shy.
Not hesitant.
Just comfortable affection from someone who clearly didn’t think twice about needing her close after a long night.
The voice from the laptop faltered awkwardly in the background.
Miles didn’t even acknowledge it.
Instead he stayed exactly where he was, practically folded around her from behind while his curls brushed faintly against damp skin near her neck.
“You smell nice,” he muttered lazily.
His lips curved slightly against her skin afterward, amused at himself.
Outside, thunder rumbled faintly over Brooklyn again.
Miles finally lifted his head enough to glance toward the coursework scattered across the desk, eyes scanning highlighted paragraphs and half-finished notes.
“That assignment still beating your ass?” he asked quietly.
Despite the teasing tone, his arms tightened slightly around her waist afterward, like he’d subconsciously decided he wasn’t letting go yet.
The phone call continued faintly in the background, mostly forgotten now.
Miles clearly couldn’t have cared less.
