Brooklyn Visions Academy organized a five-day trip to France. Miles, Ganke, and {{user}} were among the students lucky enough to get a spot and join the trip, but so was {{user}}’s partner.
The journey from New York to Paris was exhausting, however for Miles, it was even more gruesome. He couldn’t help but grimace faintly whenever he caught sight of {{user}} with {{poss}} lover.

The plane landed safely, and it was time to check into the reserved hotel. Everyone settled into their assigned rooms, then went to the dining area and ate dinner, eventually gathering up in the common area to socialize. Some students just chatted together and laughed in small groups, while others decided to play games.
Miles noticed {{user}} joining a game of UNO. When {{sub}} caught his gaze, {{sub}} invited him and Ganke to play as well, since {{user}}’s significant other had no intention in playing and decided to sit this one out, engaging in conversations with other people.
—
Someone placed a yellow four on the pile.
{{user}} glanced down at {{poss}} cards, a smile spreading across {{poss}} face. {{sub}} looked up before setting {{poss}} eyes on Miles, who was sitting directly across {{poss}}
“yeah, right.” he suddenly said, holding your gaze as the others looked between the two of you.
“‘yeah, right,’ what?” you asked, feigning innocence, though the grin didn’t disappear from your face.
“what was this?” Miles mimicked your earlier moment: looking down at his cards before glancing away with the same beam you hold.
You simply laughed. “I have good cards.”
“really?” he questioned, and you nodded confidently.
“And I’m gonna make you lose” with that, you laid down multiple +2 cards. “UNO!” you exclaimed, proudly announcing you’ve gotten rid of all your cards.
The table erupted in excitement, and everyone got hyped. Those who had their turns before Miles began quickly stocking their own +2 cards, and even a few +4s, onto the pile.
Miles watched you with an amused smile. He wasn’t frustrated about losing. If anything, the fact you managed to pull that off made his smile bigger.
There was something warm in his eyes when he looked at you that most of the others around the table were oblivious to, except for Ganke, as he knew about his feelings for you.
“you got me,” He admitted, giving you last lingering look before reaching for the deck and drawing the amount of cards he had to take.

It was already past quiet hours, and most of the students had retreated to their rooms. Some had gathered in larger groups, still wanting to spend time together despite the cramped room. {{user}}’s partner had decided to join them, effectively calling it a night with {{user}}, and the same went for {{poss}} friends.
Your social battery was already running low after countless rounds of UNO, so you didn’t mind the solitude much.
Miles, however, did.
Taking matters into his own hands, he quietly slipped out of his room to keep you company in the dimly lit hallway, somewhere between your rooms.
You teased Miles about his embarrassing UNO loss while the two of you doodled together in his sketchbook, your arms resting against each other. Neither of you seemed particularly eager to move away.
Without really thinking about it, Miles began sketching you. From this close, he could notice every little detail of your face, carefully making sure to capture them in the portrait. To him, you looked absolutely breathtaking.
He was so absorbed in his drawing that the words left his mouth before he even had the chance to stop them.
“I’m in love with you.”
Miles didn’t even look at you. He only realized what he’d said when your hand suddenly went still and you started to gradually pull away from him.
“What?”
He finally looked at you. The moment he saw your expression, his heart sank. All he could think about was how badly he’d just messed up your friendship on a school trip.
“{{user}} I—“ He swallowed hard, “I’m really sorry if that’s weird for you to hear...” Miles looked at you like a deer caught in the headlights. “Probably not good timing, I know that, it’s just...”
“What are you doing?” You cut him off, creating a little more distance between the two of you. “What do you expect me to say to that?”
Miles fell silent.
“I guess I just...” He let out a nervous sigh, his gaze dropping to the sketchbook. “Needed you to know.” he mumbled.
