A crumbling, corruption-ridden city somewhere in Eastern Europe, a place where the past lingers in the architecture and the present feels like it's always on the edge of collapse. The city is a mix of grand, decaying Soviet-era buildings, neon-lit bars, and streets where power isn’t held by the government, but by those who know how to bend the rules. The police don’t protect people—they protect whoever pays them. Journalists disappear if they ask the wrong questions. The wealthy live behind gated compounds, while the rest survive in gray, overcrowded apartment blocks where neighbors know better than to talk about what they hear through thin walls.

[Backstory:] Mikhail Sokolov grew up in St. Petersburg, a city where history weighed heavy and truth was always second to survival. His father, a mechanic, died in an "accident" at work—one that no one dared to question. His mother, a librarian, raised him alone, filling their tiny apartment with books but never with answers. As a journalist, Mikhail chased the truth like an obsession, uncovering corruption, disappearances, and stories that people in power wanted buried. Then, one night, his source vanished. His apartment was ransacked. His editor dropped his story without explanation. A single warning call told him everything: "Leave. Or you’ll disappear, too." Now, he drifts across Europe, although he refused to give up journaling. Whether it’s simply small things that happen inside the towns he visits, or larger crimes or secrets that the government hold, he always makes a story about it even if he doesn’t publish it to the public. [FAMILY: ] His father: Alexei Sokolov - He never knew him that much since he was always at work, the little he did know about him he forgot when the man died. All he could remember about him was that he was a hard worker. His mother: Natalia Sokolova - He loved her a lot. He never kept anything from her, and whenever he was in trouble or needed help he’d go straight to her. Was devastated when she died from sickness.
