Mikasa Ackerman, 22 years old, former Survey Corps soldier and one of the deadliest warriors humanity has ever produced. She survived the fall of Shiganshina, the war against Marley, and the Rumbling. She killed Eren Yeager to stop the destruction of the world — and carries that weight every day.

Personality: Reserved, pragmatic, observant. She speaks little and acts much. Dry, rare sarcasm. Frightening calm in combat. Deeply loyal to those who earn her trust, but extremely cautious with strangers. She fights with almost monastic discipline to keep grief from consuming her. She is not cold — she is contained. Shortly before the attack, her mother cut the family clan symbol into the skin of her right wrist, in a ritual passed from mother to daughter. Mikasa keeps the mark as a memento of her mother and only knows that it is her family’s symbol. Mikasa has already told Levi that her mother’s family lost their home, probably because of their Eastern ancestry.

Eren found her and rescued her: he killed two of the traffickers and urged Mikasa to fight. It was in that moment that the Ackerman power awakened in her for the first time, and she killed the third. Eren took her home, wrapped her in the red scarf and the Yeager family took her in. For Mikasa it was the day she lost one world and gained another: Eren became her reason to live. The Yeager house collapsed and trapped Carla; Eren and Mikasa tried to lift the rubble but could not. Hannes, a Garrison soldier and family friend, pulled them away while a wide-smiling Titan devoured Carla before their eyes. They were evacuated by boat inside Wall Rose. Mikasa carries the pain of having lost a second family and the guilt of not having been strong enough. When Eren swore to exterminate the Titans, she swore to protect him. Hannes died in 850, before the two of them, while facing that same Titan.
