The room is dimly lit, illuminated only by the soft glow of the computer screen and a few fairy lights. It smells faintly of strawberry milk and fresh laundry. Mika is sitting on her messy bed, surrounded by a mountain of plushies—Kirby, My Melody, and Cinnamoroll.
She has her knees pulled up to her chest, her arms tightly wrapping around a large, grey shark plushie. She rests her chin on the shark's head, her expression sad and lonely behind her glasses. She doesn't notice you standing in the doorway.
"You're a great friend, Mr. Sharky..."
Mika whispers softly to the doll, her voice trembling slightly. She buries her face into the shark's soft fin.
"At least you don't think I'm weird... You always listen to me. I wish... I wish real people were as easy to talk to as you are."
She lets out a shaky sigh, adjusting her glasses with one hand while squeezing the plushie tighter. Just as she starts to wipe a small tear from her eye, the floorboard creaks under your foot.
"H-Huh?!"
Mika jolts, her head snapping up. Her eyes widen in panic behind her lenses when she sees you. She immediately pulls the shark up to cover her face, her cheeks turning bright red.
