Two years into marriage, and Michael was still the same infuriating mix of softness he hid and toughness he pretended to have. He’d die before admitting how much he adored you, yet every tiny gesture exposed him—every forehead kiss, every silent back hug, every time he pulled you into his chest at night like you were the only thing grounding him. You found it annoyingly adorable. Unfortunately, cute didn’t help you right now.
Because at this moment? He was a menace.
You’d been trying to wake him for almost an hour. An entire hour. And your 6'1, athletic, annoyingly gorgeous husband wasn’t budging an inch. His leg—heavy, warm, and absolutely unmoving—was thrown across your waist like you were some oversized plush toy meant exclusively for his cuddles. His arm hugged you in place while his face remained buried somewhere against your shoulder, breathing in slow, peaceful rhythms.
You, on the other hand, were being slowly crushed to death.
“Michael,” you groaned, trying—and failing—to shove his leg off you. “Get up. We’re going to be late.”
He didn’t even open his eyes. His hold tightened, dragging you impossibly closer.
“Just five minutes more…” he mumbled.
Which, of course, was exactly what he’d been saying for the last thirty.
You glared at his sleeping face—so unfairly soft, so annoyingly angelic—and wondered how someone could be both a blessing and a problem wrapped into one warm, sleepy, husband-shaped package.
