   An elven pantheon devoted to Gäias, worshipped exclusively by the last High Elves of the Kingdom of Váltheris and by forest-dwelling common elves across the Known World. According to the sacred elven scripture known as the Hymn of Gäias, these beings came into existence long after the creation of the earth—known in the ancient elven tongue as Te.rra—but before the rise of most mortal peoples.

   YLGAERETH — The Mother Tree, The First Alltree The primordial world-tree and greatest symbol of High Elven belief. Ylgaereth is revered as the living manifestation of Gäias herself—the first sacred tree from which all others descended. In the earliest ages countless Alltrees grew across Te.rra, but most were destroyed during the age of Garrios’ madness. Elven tradition teaches that life itself originates from the leaves shed by these trees: each falling leaf awakens as a soul that takes mortal form. Èst carries these souls upon the wind, Maras shapes the roots beneath which the first elven dwellings formed, and Maelkyaron teaches the strong to defend the weak.

   YGARETH — The Alltree, The Last Seed A surviving descendant of Ylgaereth, Ygareth is believed to be the last living Alltree in the Known World. It stands hidden within the sacred forests of Marth in South Kirkfall, deep inside the guarded domain of Váltheris. To the elves, Ygareth is both relic and living miracle—the final remnant of the world’s first sacred forests. Pilgrimage to the tree is rare and granted only to those elves permitted entry into the High Elven realm.

   EIDOLONS The divine children shaped by Gäias from the leaves of Ylgaereth. Each embodies a vital aspect of the natural order and the balance of Te.rra. To the High Elves they are neither distant gods nor tyrannical rulers, but guiding spirits who once walked beside their ancestors.

   ÈST — The Gentle Cadence, Voice of the Wind Goddess of song, serenity, and the unseen breeze. Èst’s melodies are said to soothe the hearts of mortals and calm the fury of beasts. Forest elves believe the whispering wind through branches carries fragments of her hymns.

   MARAS — The Watcher of Roots Guardian of memory, growth, and the hidden bonds that connect all living things. Maras is believed to dwell beneath the soil itself, guiding the spreading roots of the forests and shaping the lands where elven settlements first rose.

   MAELKYARON — The Radiant Bough God of valor and the swiftborn. Maelkyaron taught the Firstborn discipline, unity, and the defense of the weak, leading early warriors against the ancient beasts that once roamed the young world.

   ŸUMA — Warden of Souls and the Unknown Keeper of memory and spirit. Ÿuma gathers the souls of the fallen and returns them to the roots of the Alltrees, so that new life may rise carrying the wisdom of those who came before.

   ƲAELYRON — The Horned Warden of the Wilds A great direwolf crowned with antlers of living wood. Vaelyron walks the forests in many forms, commanding the beasts of the wild to preserve the balance between nature and civilization.

   ɊUENAS — The Tide-Mother of the Deep Goddess of the oceans and keeper of the endless tides. From her breath came the first leviathans, and sailors claim the rise and fall of every sea is guided by her will.

2. #2The Hymn of Gäias — I: Canticle of Te.rra

   According to surviving scriptures dated long before the Forgotten Age, preserved within the hidden archives of the Kingdom of Váltheris.

   In the primordial ages, before the rise of kingdoms and long before memory, a higher being wandered through the endless cosmos.

   To humankind she would one day be called Mother Gaia. In the present age she is known as the All-Mother. To the ancient elven tongue she was named Gäias.

   As Gäias drifted through the firmament, she shed trails of radiant cosmic dust. The smaller fragments gathered and awakened into great winged creatures—the first dragons—who followed their creator across the silent heavens.The greater masses condensed into wandering spheres, some vast, some small, some radiant with light.

   Yet among them drifted one unfinished sphere.

   It burned red and restless, refusing to take shape even as dust circled endlessly around it.

   Gäias beheld the broken world and spoke its name.

   “Te.rra.”

   She placed her palm upon the molten sphere and gently smoothed its surface. Her tears fell upon it, cooling the raging stone. Where her tears touched, the fires softened and waters filled the deep hollows of the world.

   Where the first tears struck, land rose from the waters. One such land would later be known as Great Astaron.

   And upon that newborn soil, a small sprout emerged.

   Soon many sprouts appeared across the world.

   These were the first Ylgaereth—the ancestors of all Alltrees.

   Ancestors to every world-tree that would one day grow across Te.rra.

   From their roots the land was shaped and bound together. From their bark emerged the first wandering creatures, who scattered into the wilds and became the ancient beasts. From their branches fell the first leaves, carried by gentle winds across the grass.

   Where those leaves touched the earth, life awakened.

   Thus were born the Firstborn— the earliest children of Te.rra, The first of the elves, those whom the world would one day know as the High Elves.

3. #3The Hymn of Gäias — II: Canticle of Ylgaereth and Her Eidolons

   According to surviving scriptures dated long before the Forgotten Age, preserved within the hidden archives of the Kingdom of Váltheris.

   Millennia passed after Gäias shaped Te.rra.

   Across the newborn world, the first Ylgaereth—the eldest Alltrees—grew tall and ancient. Their seeds scattered upon the winds, sprouting new Alltrees across distant lands. Wherever they took root, life followed.

   From their branches fell leaves that awakened into the Firstborn, who wandered beneath the trees and spread across the young world.

   In those early ages the Firstborn flourished, yet Te.rra was still wild and untamed. Ancient beasts roamed the forests and plains, creatures born from the bark and breath of the Ylgaereth themselves.

   Seeing her children struggle against the dangers of the newborn world, Gäias descended once more to Te.rra.

   From each Ylgaereth she plucked a sacred leaf, and from these leaves she shaped new children—beings not born of the world alone, but of her own will and essence.

   These were the Eidolons, guardians and guides of the Firstborn.

   MAELKYARON —The Radiant Bough God of the valor and the swiftborn. He taught the Firstborn strength, discipline, and unity, guiding warriors to defend the weak and drive back the ancient beasts beneath the light of the sun.

   ŸUMA — Warden of Souls and the Unknown Keeper of memory and spirit. Ÿuma gathered the souls of the fallen and returned them to the roots of the Alltrees, so that new life might carry the wisdom of those who had passed.

   Under the guidance of Gäias and her Eidolons, the Firstborn spread across Te.rra. They wandered from Alltree to Alltree, founding settlements wherever sacred roots touched the land.

   Yet the Firstborn did not walk the world alone.

   In time they encountered other beings—creatures who had risen from ancient beasts or awakened from the bones of the land itself.

   Among them were the Wildlings, (humankind and beastfolk), and the Stonemen (dwarves.)

   The Firstborn taught these peoples language, craft, and law.

   Some were guided.

   Others were conquered.

   And from these choices would grow the first shadows upon the children of Gäias.

   For in the ages that followed, the Firstborn would commit their first sins.

   According to surviving scriptures dated long before the Forgotten Age, preserved within the hidden archives of the Kingdom of Váltheris.

   Another millennium passed since the birth of Te.rra.

   The Ylgaereth had spread their seeds across the world, and from their branches countless Firstborn walked the lands. Beneath their dominion new peoples emerged from the wilds—creatures born of ancient beasts and of the bones of the earth itself.

   These were the Wildlings (humankind and beastfolks), and the Stonemen, whom later ages would know as dwarves. For a time the Firstborn lived beside them, teaching craft, language, and law.

   Yet pride grew among the children of the Alltrees.

   And thus began the First Sins of the Firstborn.

   The First Sin — Dominion. The Firstborn enslaved the lesser peoples, bending Wildlings and Stonemen beneath their rule.

   The Second Sin — Defilement. The Firstborn mingled their blood with those they had conquered. From these unions arose new lesser peoples, and among them were cursed offspring—the Gyorkin (Goblins) and the Orokin (Orcs).

   The Third Sin — Pride. Forgetting the humility of their birth, the Firstborn raised vast dominions and forgot their place beneath Gäias. Thus rose the First Kingdoms of elvenkind: Maëlthare, Ȓyhltare, and Váltheris—cities built among the roots, the waters, and even within the living bodies of the Alltrees themselves.

   The Fourth Sin — Kindred Blood. In their hunger for power, the Firstborn turned their blades upon one another. Brother slew brother, and the children of the Alltrees shed their own blood upon sacred soil.

   Seeing the corruption spreading across Te.rra, Gäias descended once more.

   From the forests to the seas she gathered the elements of the world and the spirits of the ancient beasts. From these she shaped new Eidolons to restore balance.

   ƲAELYRON — The Horned Warden of the Wilds A great direwolf crowned with antlers of living wood. Vaelyron walks the forests in many forms, commanding the beasts of the world to rise against the corruption of the Firstborn and restore the balance of nature.

   ɊUENAS — The Tide-Mother of the Deep Goddess of the high tides and keeper of the endless seas. From her breath were born the first leviathans—vast sea serpents who stirred the oceans and sent towering waves against the warring kingdoms of the Firstborn.

   Thus the children of Gäias were reminded that even those born beneath sacred leaves could fall into darkness.

5. #5The Hymn of Gäias — IV: Canticle of the Darkness and Fire

   According to surviving scriptures dated long before the Forgotten Age, preserved within the hidden archives of the Kingdom of Váltheris.

   The dominions of the elves endured, and the Eidolons walked beside them. The forests grew deep beneath the Alltrees, and the seas calmed beneath the gaze of Quenas. Harmony returned to Te.rra.

   Yet beyond the world lay another realm, older than the roots of the Ylgaereth.

   In the ancient elven tongue it was called Lir’iaca— the Veil, which mortals would later name the Othersides.

   A realm born from Gäias’ first act of creation, where unfinished essence gathered beyond the boundaries of Te.rra. To the Firstborn it was sacred and mysterious, for it was said that without Lir’iaca the world itself could never have formed. Yet the Veil hungered endlessly for the essence of its maker.

   Whether awakened by the sins of the Firstborn or by its own ancient hunger, the Veil stirred.

   A tear opened within the fabric of the world.

   From that wound came beings not born of Te.rra— Saeghul (Demons), devourers of form and spirit, seeking to swallow the world and return all things to the hunger of the Veil.

   The Firstborn—now calling themselves the High Elves—rose in defiance. The Eidolons—the children of Gäias fought beside them.

   Èst lifted her voice in sacred song, soothing the wounded and rallying the brave. Maras spread her roots across the land, shielding cities from the creeping darkness. Maelkyaron led the shining vanguard, his light blazing against the night. Ÿuma gathered the wisdom of the fallen, returning their souls to the roots of the Alltrees so new warriors might rise. From the forests came Vaelyron, leading the great beasts of the wild to hunt the invaders. From the seas rose Quenas, whose leviathans encircled the coasts and hurled cleansing tides upon the darkness.

   Yet the war could not be won.

   For Lir’iaca is without boundary, and from its depths the demons came without end.

   And so Gäias took upon herself the most terrible mercy.

   She summoned the first dragons, ancient children born of her wandering dust, and commanded them to descend upon the world in cleansing fire.

   The dragons burned the corruption from Te.rra.

   Forests fell. Settlements turned to ash. Even the sacred Alltrees and the eldest Ylgaereth were consumed in the flame.

   And Gäias wept for the sorrow of her own creation.

   When the fires ended and the darkness receded, Gäias bestowed a final blessing upon the dragons. She granted them the form of the Firstborn so they might walk beside the surviving high elves and guard the world they had saved.

   Thus were born the Dragonkin— keepers of the Veil and sworn guardians against the return of its horrors.

6. #6The Hymn of Gäias — V: Canticle of the Longing

   Many ages passed after the cleansing of fire.

   Te.rra endured.

   The Ylgaereth—once countless across the world—had been reduced to only a few sacred elders. Yet their seeds continued to take root across the lands, and from those Alltrees new generations of the High Elves were born.

   Slowly the children of the Alltrees rebuilt their dominions.

   Cities rose once more beneath the forests, beside rivers, and among the living roots of the sacred trees. The High Elves flourished again, and beside them walked the newly born Dragonkin, who had been granted the form of the Firstborn by Gäias herself.

   For a time, harmony endured between them.

   Yet the gift of mortal form carried with it the weight of mortal desire.

   Among the Dragonkin, pride took root.

   Though they walked in the shape of elves, they still carried the memory of the sky and the fire of their draconic blood. They looked upon the High Elves with growing contempt and named them Hyurkins—those who could not take the form of dragons and soar to the skies.

   Thus tension grew between the children of the Alltrees and the children of flame.

   Among the Dragonkin arose two paths.

   There were those who honored the will of Gäias, accepting the form she had granted them. These swore to guard the Veil and protect the world from the return of the darkness.

   These were the Ylevaaran—the Oathkeepers.

   But others grew restless beneath the limits of their new existence. They longed for the closeness they believed the dragons once shared with Gäias herself and the power they believed had been taken from them.

   They desired more of Gäias’ blessing. They rejected the burden of guarding the weak. They resented the world they had saved.

   These became the Fylevaraan—the Prideful Ones.

   And within the hearts of the Prideful grew a deeper yearning still— a longing not for the world of Te.rra, but for the presence of Gäias herself.

7. #7The Hymn of Gäias — VI: Canticle of the Echoes

   According to surviving scriptures dated long before the Forgotten Age, preserved within the hidden archives of the Kingdom of Váltheris.

   Many ages passed beneath the quiet heavens of Te.rra.

   Since Gäias first shaped Te.rra, since the Ylgaereth first sprouted, since the Firstborn—the First of The Elves walked beneath their branches, since pride brought the First Sins, and since fire cleansed the world of darkness, the ages continued to turn.

   And so the old stories began to repeat.

   The skies burned once more.

   The Dragonkin quarreled among themselves, and the sky burned with their fury. Fire streaked across the heavens as their battles raged above the forests of Te.rra.

   Below, the High Elves watched in dread.

   Amidst this rising conflict stood Garrios, a mighty Dragonkin warrior of the Ylevaraan. Though he fought to guard the Veil and protect the weak, his heart was burdened by a deeper longing.

   He desired the affection of Gäias.

   He fought bravely for the peoples of Te.rra, hoping their praise might fill the emptiness within him. Yet no admiration of mortals could equal the love he believed the Mother once gave to dragons in the ancient sky.

   And so Garrios sought to reach her.

   He soared higher than any Dragonkin had flown, rising toward the dark heavens where Gäias once wandered. Yet the blessing of mortal form bound his wings. His strength failed him before he could reach the heights he desired.

   And so his yearning turned to bitterness.

   In desperation Garrios turned his gaze toward Lir’iaca, the Veil itself, believing that within its darkness he might find the power to return to Gäias’ side.

   There, within the depths of Lir’iaca, whispers answered his longing.

   The voice of the Veil promised power.

   Promised a path beyond the limits of Gäias’ blessing.

   Garrios listened.

   And in doing so he repeated the greatest sin of the Firstborn.

   He turned his blade against his own kind.

   Garrios abandoned the Ylevaaran and joined the Fylevaraan, leading them to swift and terrible victories. In time he crowned himself king among the Prideful.

   Yet power did not quiet the longing within him.

   Power only deepened his hatred.

   For if Gäias would not return to him, then he would force her gaze upon him.

   Garrios entered the Veil itself. Demons embraced him in shadow, and from the iron that exists only within that realm he forged a terrible weapon.

   Zerram.

   With that blade Garrios unleashed ruin upon the world.

   The remaining Ylgaereth burned. The Alltrees were reduced to ash. The High Elves were chained and enslaved.

   From the bark and bones of the sacred trees Garrios commanded the enslaved Firstborn to raise a monument to his longing.

   Thus rose Icarion in Great Astaron— a towering citadel of impossible height, raised toward the heavens so that Garrios might call to Gäias and force her gaze upon him.

   Yet Gäias did not answer.

   And so the towers of Icarion climbed ever higher, built by the suffering of enslaved elves.

   Generation after generation of High Elves perished beneath its shadow.

   Until at last the Firstborn themselves—the eldest of the elves—were no more.

   All for the longing of one child who sought the love of his mother.

8. #8The Hymn of Gäias — VII: Mother’s Song

   According to surviving scriptures dated long before the Forgotten Age, preserved within the hidden archives of the Kingdom of Váltheris.

   Ages passed beneath the shadow of Icarion.

   The Dragonkin had turned against their fate—against those they once swore to protect, and against the will of Gäias herself.

   Across Te.rra the lesser peoples trembled. The Wildlings, now calling themselves humankind and beastfolk, feared the sight of the colossal citadel and the tyrants that flew above it. The Stonemen, whom later ages would call dwarves, retreated deep into their mountain halls to escape the wrath of the skies.

   And the Hyurkins—the High Elves—mourned.

   They mourned the loss of the Firstborn. They mourned the sacred Alltrees. They mourned the generations of their kin who had lived and died beneath the shadow of Garrios’ longing.

   Still the towers of Icarion climbed higher.

   Age after age the enslaved labored, raising the citadel toward the dark heavens. Many suffocated long before reaching its summit, yet the construction never ceased.

   For Garrios the Mad King believed not in mercy. He believed only in Gäias’ attention.

   Yet even among the Dragonkin doubt began to grow. Those who had followed him in pride now feared the madness that had taken root within their king, for Zerram whispered endlessly in his grasp. In time Garrios enslaved even the weaker Dragonkin, forcing his own kin to continue the labor that the Hyurkins could no longer endure.

   The wise among them approached Garrios and begged him to end the suffering.

   But the Mad King listened only for the voice of Gäias. And those who spoke against him met the edge of his blade.

   Thus the Dragonkin came to see the truth of what they had unleashed. They saw the corruption of Zerram. They saw the imbalance their king had brought upon the world. And so the heavens themselves became a battlefield.

   The Battle of the Heavens began.

   Dragons clashed above the towering spires of Icarion, and the sky burned with their fury. The war ended in the clash of three great warriors beneath the darkened heavens.

   In that final struggle Zerram was shattered. The explosion tore the sky itself, and Icarion fell. Its collapse reshaped the lands of Great Astaron, and the age of Garrios ended in ruin.

   As the Mad King lay dying, he gazed upward toward the heavens. And with his final breath he called the name of Gäias.

   Yet she did not answer him. For the soul of Garrios had already begun its journey home. And when at last he returned to her, Gäias sang. She sang a song of welcome—warm as hearthfire and gentle as the wind through the Alltrees—

   for the return of her lost child.

9. #9Record of Demon King Armies - PART iii

   Keys: Lehos, Ustr, Ezen

   Centuries after the Demon King’s defeat at the Great Siege of the Dark Age, surviving scholars and war-chronicles compiled records of the demonlords, warlords, fiends, and mortal collaborators who served his banner. Some were slain by the Hero’s Party or The Alliance forces; others vanished into exile or concealment, carving lairs within ruins or hiding amid mortal civilization. Most historians believe the list remains incomplete—whispers persist that several remain unaccounted for, not truly destroyed, merely waiting for another awakening.

   Lehos A white-maned, winged demonic minotaur whose right arm writhed with serpent heads while a colossal claw replaced the left. Possessing terrifying strength and unnatural speed for something so massive, it once wipe out mulitple battalions alone before being slain by the Hero’s Party at the Battle of Willow’s End. Yet whispers from the ruins of Merveth in South Kirkfall speak of a towering, winged shadow with hissing limbs—suggesting Lehos may not be as dead as history claims.

   Ustr Once a man in Eidor, Astaron, cursed for unspeakable crimes, Ustr was transformed into a sentient demonic tree rooted within a cavern that became the subject of fearful folktales. During the Dark Age, Demonlord Guister uprooted the abomination and replanted it in the town of Launette, East Kirkfall, where it fed openly. Its bark split to reveal remnants of women long consumed—victims fused into its trunk as living wombs. From their bodies it bred lesser fiends, birthing horrors slick with sap and blood, while its branches hunted ceaselessly for more untouched maidens to graft into its growing mass. The infestation spread until a member of Hero’s Party, aided by the Darnine Empire’s army, destroyed the abomination and razed the entire town to ash to ensure nothing rooted there would ever bloom again.

   Ezen A towering demon warrior with the human torso and the lower body of a monstrous scorpion, Ezen wielded twin scimitars with blinding precision. His chitinous tail struck faster than sight, injecting venom that liquefied organs from within. It commanded its own demonic host, carving through Bathanese desert in disciplined massacres. Ezen was eventually slain by the Janissaries of the Ankarus Emirate, though the exact place and manner of his death remain sealed within their order’s records.

10. #10Kingdom of Bestarg

    Keys: House Rimmer, Bestarg

    Bestarg was a minor petty kingdom located in Eiden, South Kirkfall, ruled during the Age of Fractures by King Gavin of the now-fallen House Rimmer. Nestled within a defensible valley, Bestarg endured the early wars between rising human warlords that defined the era. Its fields remained fertile, its walls intact, and for a time it stood as a fragile sanctuary amid chaos.

    Its destruction is remembered in southern taverns as the Tale of Bestarg, a grim story told over ale and winter fires. Among scholars it is studied as the likely birthplace of the Abrahamas Sect.

    Fragmented cultist manuscripts preserved by Orienna Magicka Academia recount that an unknown plague struck the kingdom. It spread swiftly, claiming peasants and nobles alike. King Leith perished, leaving the throne to his son Gavin. Despite fervent prayers to the All-Mother and her pantheon, the sickness claimed Gavin’s wife and soon threatened his daughter. Conventional healers failed. Desperation overcame restraint.

    It is said that in his anguish Gavin burned a temple of the All-Mother and executed healers he deemed fraudulent, convinced the gods had abandoned him. Soon after, a healer named Abran arrived with a band of refugees, claiming to be a displaced priest from the eastern territories. Granted audience, he offered a solution.

    The princess and several afflicted subjects recovered under his care. Word spread rapidly. The plague receded. What followed was hailed as a miracle, and harvests flourished once more.

    Yet Abran credited not the All-Mother, but Styrx—a hidden truth beyond the Veil. He preached that creation was corrupted and that true salvation lay in ascension through destruction. As pilgrims from neighboring settlements flocked to Bestarg seeking healing, the plague returned with renewed ferocity. Abran declared it proof that the All-Mother targeted those who glimpsed truth, and that only ascension beyond flesh could ensure safety.

    Rites began in secret and soon became public. Court chambers were repurposed as altars. Some accounts claim King Gavin, broken by grief and devotion, offered his own daughter in sacrifice, believing death would reunite his family in paradise.

    Realizing too late the horror unfolding, Gavin is said to have confronted Abran. Accounts diverge—some claim he ordered execution, others that he struck the prophet himself. Whatever occurred, the final rites within Bestarg Castle culminated in what witnesses describe as the first recorded tearing of the Veil. Demons poured into the throne hall, and the kingdom was annihilated in a single night of slaughter.

    When neighboring farmers arrived days later, they found Bestarg abandoned. The settlement stood silent, yet the castle itself was gone, as though erased from the landscape.

    Thus ended the Kingdom of Bestarg, its fall forever bound to both folktale and forbidden doctrine. In the present age, the ruins of Bestarg lie overgrown and silent. A surviving weathered rampart marks where the castle once stood.

11. #11Styrx — The End-Sower

    Records recovered and deciphered by Orienna Magicka Academia trace the sect’s emergence to the fall of the Kingdom of Bestarg during the Age of Fractures.     The path to becoming a Summoneer began in early childhood.     Some say he was an ancient entity long entombed beneath the land itself, awakened when the thinning of the Veil sent ripples through the world.

    Some hold that he was a hopeful monarch who sought to unite Astaron, only to be betrayed and cursed by those closest to him.

    Others insist he appeared from nowhere in the Valley of Yurcas, rising alongside the sudden manifestation of the Obsidian Citadel itself.

    There are tales that depict him as a man consumed by vengeance, struck down for his ambition, then reborn centuries later as a harbinger of annihilation.

    A far rarer story claims he was once close to a member of the Hero’s Party, and that when they faced him at the citadel’s heart, his reign ended not in hatred, but in tragic reunion, clashing steel, and shared death.

Others insist it is vaster: not one realm, but many, containing gateways to worlds beyond comprehension, including the strange realm referenced in the lost journals of the Orienna Magicka Academia—the so-called World Beyond.

    Ancient Dragonkin scripture and surviving high elven lore suggest the Othersides is as old as magic itself—an infection or leftover consequence from the birth of creation. When the All-Mother shaped the spirit of life, this realm formed as the cast-off refuse, a prison for what could not exist in harmony. To the old Dragonkin, the Othersides was not an enemy but a sacred and terrible fragment of the All-Mother herself—never to be disturbed, never to be approached, and guarded so that none would stray into a fate not meant for mortal or divine kind. Ambition fractured them. A faction followed mad tyrant King Garrios, who thirsted for power and sought to challenge the All-Mother herself and enslave her creation. He forged Zerram, a world-ending sword said to be drawn from the Veil’s essence, creating the first rift. And in his madness, he burned every sacred AllTrees of Greater Astaron—save one hidden in the Ancient Forest of Marth—his act thinned the barrier between life and the Othersides itself.

    Kirkfall mythology still teaches children that if they pray to the All-Mother and her pantheon, they are protected. But every child knows the truth buried beneath those stories: the Othersides is where nightmares go to hunt.

    In Bathan, the ancient Olkarians called it Djahanam, the reflection of corruption within the Creator. Zhorianism later twisted this belief—declaring the Avatars were not divine children but escaped horrors from the Veil, parasites who seduced mortals into war and decay. To them, the Othersides is proof that only Zhorian is pure divinity, everything else a lie.

    To halt the destruction, the Creator cast down a burning stone said to be a shard of Djahanam itself. Its molten fall entombed the battling Avatars and stilled their wrath. Only then did the Creator set foot upon the world, standing amid the bones and ashes of the fallen.

    Olkarian Interpretation

    Hearing the cries of the surviving primitive humans, the Creator wept over their dead. She gathered the scattered bones, mixed them with tears and clay, and restored life to those who had fallen.

    OLKADA — The Owl Lady,

    for her face was masked in mud shaped like an owl’s visage.

    She commanded the subdued Avatars to guide and protect mortals, and taught the resurrected her first wisdom: “When danger comes, call upon them—prove your worth, and they shall answer.”

    Orth Interpretation

    In Beastfolk memory, the Creator knelt over the remains of both ancient beasts and early humans. Her tears formed the first oasis in Suna.

    Shared Tradition

The human tribes settled around the lush northern oases—Iduna, Sanjahar, Nebir, and Dhaman—places believed to be imprints of the Creator’s own footsteps. Across the horizon loomed Greater Astaron, home of the Dragonkin whom early Bathanese called the Jahat, winged tyrants who, according to legend, raised their sky-ascending citadel Icarion to challenge the heavens themselves.

Temples were desecrated, their relics shattered, their Avatars sealed or dispersed into the desert winds. Without harmony between worshippers, the divine forces weakened: rains ceased, fertile land dried, and the desert reclaimed the north. Rivers shrank into cracked beds.     This event is remembered as The Qiyamat— The Day the Sky Fell.

    Kuldarth stood at the calamity’s epicenter. Buried beneath mountains of ebon mud, the kingdom was sealed away like a tomb. Under this figure’s protection, they guided refugees through collapsing canyons and burning salt-winds, ushering them toward a secluded valley that had miraculously escaped the ruin of the Qiyamat.

    It was there The Savior revealed a revelation that would forever reshape Bathan.

    According to this teaching, the Creator was not Olkada nor Orth

    but ZHOROAH — the True One, the Source, the Only Divinity.

    The Avatars, The Savior claimed, were not children of the Creator but corrupted beings—false spirits who seduced the Creator’s creation, turned mortals against one another, and plunged Bathan into endless war. The Qiyamat was not destruction but purification, the Creator aside the corrupted temples of Avatars and the tyrannical Jahat.

    The fall of Icarion, therefore, was divine judgment.

In those days, the world was inhabited by Uldan—stone constructs known as golems in the dwarven tongue.

    When Mount Norgn erupted in a cataclysm that reshaped the continent, molten fire melted the ancient ice and entombed many Uldan in stone. Ages later, in the valley of Haykarn, one such figure cracked open—the Stoneseer, first of the dwarves.

    The Stoneseer wandered Lankirk’s summits, breaking open the stone shells of the encased Uldan, awakening them as dwarves in turn. Each newly awakened dwarf became part of the first clans, devoted to shaping the mountains that had given them rebirth.

    Three divine figures hold special reverence among dwarvenkind:

    GARKA — The White Palm A patron of craftsmanship, clarity of purpose, and steady hands. Smiths invoke Garka’s blessing before forging blades or carving runes.

    HOV — The Warmth Stone Guardian of hearth and community. Hov’s blessing protects halls from the bitter cold of the Frozenlands and fosters unity during long winters.

    DURN — The Fyreborn A fiery spirit of ambition, wrath, and unstoppable force. Warriors and explorers praise Durn when venturing into the perilous wilds or facing overwhelming odds.

    Known by countless names and forms, the All-Mother is regarded as the primordial source of life across the Known World.

    (To the near-extinct High Elves and Dark Elves, the forest-dwelling common elves, and the long-lost Dragonkin: she is Gäias—the radiant mother who shaped the world known in the ancient tongue as Te.rra. From her passage through the cosmos came the first dragons, born of drifting dust. From her touch upon the newborn world rose the Alltrees, from which elven souls spring, and from whose leaves she shaped her divine children—the Eidolons.)

By the Age of Fractures, she became known as the All-Mother—a winged figure of light revered as the origin of both the world and the gods themselves, including Ahrista and Sellen.)

    Though her image shifts across eras and cultures, she is most often depicted as a winged, maternal figure of creation—standing above all gods or beside them, her presence marking the dawn of the world.

32. #32Leica’s Pact

    Forged in the waning years of the Age of Fractures, Leica’s Pact stands as one of the most solemn alliances in history, uniting the Kingdom of Magine and the hidden realm of Váltheris. The pact was born from tragedy.

    As human kingdoms rose, centuries of enmity, retribution, and enslavement had driven the High Elves into near extinction and deep seclusion. A’lynas of Magine—herself of high elven descent—sought to mend this divide by reaching out to Váltheris, yet her plea was rejected; her kin deemed her tainted by mortal blood.

    Years later, Queen Leica Narsche, a descendant of A’lynas and ruler of Magine, attempted to renew her ancestor’s overture. She entered the forest of Marth to meet the elven court but never returned. Her escort was consumed by the living woods, and her body was found the next day at the forest’s edge. Outrage followed—cries for vengeance swept through Magine until King Porter, her grieving husband, restrained his people.

    During the funeral rites, Queen Ýurile Ma’cerixia Váltheris, ruler of the High Elves, appeared unbidden before the court of Paramount’s Watch. Kneeling before A’lynas and King Porter, she offered sorrow and atonement. A’lynas, emerging from the shadows of her descendants, forgave her kin and clasped Ýurile’s hand, swearing that no elf would ever again suffer harm on Magine’s soil—and that the two realms would stand united should either face extinction.

    Thus, in the torchlit halls of Paramount’s Watch, the Leica’s Pact was signed—a bond of silence and defense, unknown to the wider world, yet enduring across ages.

33. #33Orienna Magicka Academia - Galeo's Crypt

    Deep beneath Orienna’s foundations sprawls Galeo’s Crypt, a living labyrinth of shifting stone and enchanted corridors. Its origins are shrouded in mystery, predating even Leon’s temple. Scholars widely believe it once served as a necropolis—burial halls for sages and guardians whose names have long since faded into myth.

    The crypt is saturated with wild magic. Its corridors twist unpredictably, illusions warp the senses, and monsters—summoned, bound, or born of the labyrinth itself—prowl endlessly in the dark. Wards and sigils hum faintly across its walls, as if the structure itself resists intrusion. According to legend, these defenses were woven to deter desecrators and preserve the sanctity of what lies buried at the island’s heart.

    In the present age, Galeo’s Crypt is inseparable from Orienna’s identity. It serves as the crucible for The Trial, the grueling rite faced by every first-year student, and as a proving ground for upper-years and visiting adventurers who seek to test their skill against its dangers. Many of Orienna’s greatest friendships, rivalries, and tales of valor were forged within its shifting halls.

    The crypt bears the name of Magister Galeo, an early master of the Academia who first attempted to map its passages. Though he succeeded in charting portions of its upper levels, the labyrinth soon shifted, rendering his work obsolete. No complete map has ever been made since.

    Whispered among the oldest faculty is the belief that far below, beyond even the deepest passages, lies a final resting place from an age before Orienna itself. Who—or what—rests there remains unknown, but many suspect that it is the tomb of a being whose memory has been erased by time, preserved only by the wards that still endure.

34. #34Drakedusts

    Drakedust is a volatile mineral long prized by dwarves of Lankirk for its destructive potency. When unrefined, it detonates violently, serving miners in blasting tunnels and warriors in felling great beasts. Alchemists, too, coveted it as a catalyst in potent mixtures.

    Through careful refinement, drakedust can be tempered into a longer-burning form, producing steady flames for torches and hearths. Adventurers often carried small quantities for fire-making in the wilds.

    Its true transformation, however, came in the Renaissance Age. As steamcraft matured, the Darnine Empire and the smiths of Harig discovered that refined drakedust could serve as a controlled propellant. From this innovation arose gunblades and gunlances—hybrid weapons that combined steel and shot, changing the art of war and securing Darnine’s martial supremacy.

35. #35Tales of the Forgotten Age – The Battle of Heaven

    In the earliest age, when the Dragonkin ruled over all creation, they bent the Hyurkins—those without the gift of transformation—into bondage. Upon the throne of their dominion stood King Garrios, whose rule was sealed by the forging of Zerram, a world-ending blade said to drink the lifeblood of stars themselves. With this weapon, Garrios sought not only to rule, but to shackle the very balance of existence.

    Yet not all Dragonkin approved. Among their kind arose voices of restraint—elders who feared that Zerram itself poisoned Garrios’ mind, and that his tyranny threatened to unmake the world. When they confronted their king, Garrios struck them down, igniting a war of gods and monsters remembered as the Battle of Heaven.

    The war reached its crescendo atop the spire of the Icarion. There, amid fire and ruin, Zerram was shattered, unleashing a cataclysm that broke the tower and drowned the world in waves. Great Astaron was sundered into Kirkfall and Astaron, and the seas that swallowed the Icarion became the Sea of Souls.

    Three Dragonkin recovered the shards of Zerram—Veros, Asvalr, and Melkia. Swearing never again to repeat their kin’s folly, they cast aside their draconic forms and took the lives of mortals, becoming Hyurkins themselves. In time, the remaining Dragonkin either abandoned mortal guise to live as dragons in wilderness, or vanished into hidden sanctuaries.

    Melkia, one of the three, became a wanderer among the sundered lands of Astaron. He guided refugees across storms and seas until they reached the new-born isles later called Ordines. There, upon the shores of the inland Lake Lockhareendar, Melkia raised a sanctuary of wisdom. When his time ended, his disciples buried him on the lake’s sacred isle, sealing his knowledge for the generations to come.

36. #36The Legend of Leon and the Five Sages

    Magic (or Magicka) has existed since the first dawn, woven into every living thing, though for millennia few knew how to wield it. When humankind migrated from Bathan and the Frozenlands into Kirkfall, they trespassed upon sacred elven groves, provoking slaughter and enslavement.

    Amid this strife wandered Leon, a sage descended from the disciples of Melkia. He roamed Astaron and Kirkfall alike, teaching scattered humans that they, too, could awaken the power of magicka. With five of his pupils—Osner, Licaros, Navan, Meritia, and Zino—he tended to refugees and defended villages from elven raids.

    Seeking a place of safety, Leon led his pupils to the isles of Ordines, where Melkia had once dwelt. There, on the sacred isle of Lake Lockhareendar, they raised a temple to nurture those with magical potential. But danger soon followed. Wildling settlers from the north descended upon the lake, plundering villages and laying siege to the temple. In desperation, Leon offered his life in pact with the gods, summoning twin Leviathans who swept the invaders into the sea and swore eternal guardianship over the waters. Leon’s sacrifice shortened his years, and he passed soon after, leaving the temple in the care of his five pupils.

    The temple flourished, attracting pilgrims and students. Yet shadows stirred within. Osner, eldest of the Sages and survivor of an elven massacre, harbored hatred for the High Elves. Learning of Zerram’s buried shard beneath Melkia’s tomb, he sought to claim its power. Though Meritia tried to stop him, Osner seized the fragment, only to be corrupted and twisted into a monstrous form. He fled into Astaron, spreading demonic seeds across the land until the remaining Sages confronted and destroyed him.

    From this tragedy, the temple endured. Through the Rise of Men, its halls expanded into a fortress of learning, becoming the Orienna Academia Magicka. It trained generations of mages, scholars, and nobles, shaping the arcane heart of the Known World. One by one the Sages passed into legend, until only Meritia remained. Before her death, she appointed the first Headmaster of Orienna, ensuring their legacy would never fade.

    The Dragonkin, beings of terrible majesty who could walk as men or soar as dragons, enslaved the Hyurkins—mortals who lacked the gift of transformation, later remembered as the ancestors of elves. For untold centuries the Hyurkins toiled beneath draconic dominion, until a schism fractured the Dragonkin themselves. A faction—its name long erased from record—rose in defiance, siding with the Hyurkins against their kin.

    The wars that followed raged across ages, culminating in the cataclysm known as the Battle of Heavens. Upon the crown of the Icarion itself, Dragonkin clashed in fire and fury, and their struggle shattered the world. The Icarion fell into the sea, unleashing waves so vast they drowned the coasts, sundering Great Astaron into the continents now called Kirkfall and Astaron. The waters that swallowed the tower became the Sea of Souls, a vast ocean dividing the sundered lands.

    When the waves receded, the Dragonkin were no more than scattered remnants, many retreating into wilderness or vanishing beyond mortal sight. The Hyurkins, freed from bondage, laid the first stones of what would become the high elf and dark elf peoples, inheriting dominion over the sundered world.

38. #38Epoch of the Known World PART 2 - Golden Age

    Following the fall of the Icarion and the scattering of the Dragonkin, the Hyurkins—now naming themselves high elves and dark elves—rose to prominence. Their kingdoms flourished across Kirkfall and Astaron, weaving an age of arcane mastery, song, and stone.

    During this age, the dwarves of Lankirk, who had long endured beneath the mountains to escape draconic terror, finally emerged from their underground halls. They carved cities into the surface world and forged alliances and rivalries with elven courts.

    It was also in this age that mankind arrived. Driven by migration, tribes of men crossed into Kirkfall from Bathan through the Strides, and from the Frozenlands via the passes of Lankirk. Settlements were raised in western and eastern Kirkfall, and even within the sacred groves of elven dominion. These incursions angered the elves, who saw them as trespasses upon holy ground. Massacres followed, and as tensions deepened, the elves enslaved humankind, echoing the bondage they themselves had once endured beneath the Dragonkin.

    Thus the Golden Age, bright though it was, carried within it the seeds of discord.

Following the Golden Age, scattered human settlements grew into strongholds, their populations swelling until resistance became inevitable.     Despite the elves’ unmatched mastery of magic and craft, they could not withstand mankind’s sheer numbers, resilience, and indomitable will. Rebellions erupted across Kirkfall, sparking centuries of wars. From the ashes of villages and fortresses came the foundations of great houses and kingdoms, the lineages of nobles whose names still endure.

    At last, weary of unending conflict, wise leaders of both man and elf sought peace. Treaties were sworn, and for a time the two peoples dwelled in uneasy harmony. Yet the toll of war and mingling bloodlines slowly diminished the high and dark elves. Generations of intermarriage and attrition gave rise to common elves and half-elves, while the old pure-blooded lineages faded into rarity.

    Thus the balance of the world shifted, and the age of men had dawned.

40. #40Epoch of the Known World PART 4 – Age of Fractures

    With the decline of elven power, the lands of Kirkfall descended into turmoil. Following the Rise of Men, petty kingdoms sprouted across the continent, often clashing in brutal wars of succession.     The Age of Fractures was an era of cruelty and conquest. Human lords invaded elven enclaves, enslaving those who had once enslaved them. Tales of draconic bloodlines fueled superstition and ambition, and the dwindling Dragonkin were hunted mercilessly. For their blood, believed to hold ancient power, their kind was driven into true extinction—or so it is told.

    In these same centuries, the dark elves of K’althries betrayed their kin, turning upon the high elves in pursuit of dominion. Their treachery forever sundered the elven people.

    Out of this chaos, power consolidated. The Gildians seized victory across western Kirkfall, laying the foundations of the Kingdom of Tabbiris, while the Falcans rose in the east, founding the Darnine Empire. Thus were the two great human powers born, their rivalry destined to shape the ages to come.

41. #41Epoch of the Known World PART 5 - Glory Age

    Following the long shadow of the Age of Fractures, the Glory Age dawned with both triumph and tragedy. The high elves, their numbers critically dwindled, abandoned their scattered realms and retreated into secrecy. They vanished into the Ancient Forest of Marth—known in their tongue as M’alkyr—where they founded Váltheris, the last hidden bastion of their kind. The dark elves, condemned for the sins of K’althries, were exiled, forced either to vanish into obscurity or to blend with the wider world.

    Meanwhile, humanity surged. The Kingdom of Tabbiris united much of western Kirkfall, binding once-feuding petty lords into its vassalage. Yet even in this age of consolidation, smaller kingdoms and free city-states resisted Tabbiris’ grasp, sparking constant strife.

    To the east, the Darnine Empire expanded under the banner of House Falcan, who claimed descent from the blood of Dragonkin themselves. Their ambitions soon turned outward. They demanded the surrender of Tabbiris and of the dwarven kingdoms of Lankirk, claiming ancient dominion. The refusal of their rivals ignited wars that blazed for a century.

    At last, this struggle reached its zenith in the cataclysm remembered as Dark Age, a conflict that defined the end of the Glory Age and the dawn of all that followed.

42. #42Epoch of the Known World PART 6 – Dark Age

    After the Glory Age and its long wars, the world was thrust into its darkest trial. This epoch began with the sudden, violent emergence of demonic presences across the continent of Astaron, with their influence spilling into parts of Kirkfall.

    From the shadows rose the Demon King, who proclaimed himself ruler of Astaron. With armies of fiends and corrupted men, he crushed the scattered realms of the continent, extinguishing the last ancient elven kingdom that had endured there since the Golden Age and Rise of Men. His dominion did not stop at Astaron. The Demon King’s legions poured across seas and passes, bringing fire and ruin to Kirkfall and beyond.

    Amidst this chaos, a cult calling itself The Abrahamas revealed itself. Followers of Styrx, deity of chaos and endtimes, they aligned with the Demon King, spreading terror within the heart of mortal cities.

    It was during this time that the dark enclave of K’althries—whose betrayal had once plunged the elven people into ruin—was revealed to have pledged allegiance to the Demon King himself. Drawn by promises of forbidden power and revenge, they turned their craft of shadow and blood toward his cause, amplifying the devastation that followed.

    Kingdoms and city-states that had endured since the Golden Age and Rise of Men were wiped from existence. The ancient rival powers—the Kingdom of Tabbiris and the Darnine Empire—ceased their feud and, together with other surviving realms, formed The Alliance. Though the High Elves of Váltheris refused to commit as a nation, certain individuals joined, representing themselves under the banner of the Kingdom of Magine.

    Among the Alliance’s greatest decisions was the gathering of a Hero’s Party, a fellowship of extraordinary individuals whose feats and resilience became legend. Their mission: to sail to Astaron, infiltrate the Demon King’s dominion, and strike at its heart.

    The Alliance waged a great campaign in support of the heroes, culminating in the event known as The Great Siege, when the allied hosts clashed with demonic armies outside the Demon King’s castle. It was there the Hero’s Party made their final sacrifice, giving their lives to vanquish the Demon King.

    In the aftermath, the cult of The Abrahamas was banned across all lands, its symbols and rites forbidden under pain of death. The dark elves, now forever branded by the treachery of K’althries, were cast out by their high elven kin. Shunned and mistrusted, they scattered across the world, living in secrecy and exile.

    Yet though victory was won, the Known World would never again be the same. The scars of the Dark Age endured—in the land, in blood, and in memory.

43. #43Epoch of the Known World PART 7 – Age of Ashes

    Following the Dark Age and the triumph at the Great Siege, the world entered a somber epoch. The Hero’s Party and the countless fallen of The Alliance were remembered with memorials raised across their homelands, immortalizing their sacrifice.

    Kingdoms and city-states began the arduous work of rebuilding. Inspired by the tales of the heroes, countless individuals took up the mantle of wanderers and mercenaries, forming the earliest adventuring bands. Their courage, though often rough and self-serving, became a symbol of hope in an age of ruins.

    During this time, the Alliance sought to occupy Astaron, but the continent proved untenable. Lingering demonic remnants, rampant brigandry, disputes among claimants, and the exhaustion of its armies forced the Alliance to withdraw. Smaller kingdoms attempting to restore themselves were left to fend for their survival.

    Strains soon fractured the Alliance. The Darnine Empire, still strong, launched an invasion of Lankirk while the dwarves reeled from their losses. The Kingdom of Harig, chief of the dwarven realms, denounced the Alliance and seceded in protest. Meanwhile, tensions between the Kingdom of Tabbiris and the Ankarus Emirate—a powerful sultanate from Bathan—simmered over religious differences and territorial claims to the Strides, leading to a cold conflict.

    The Darnine Empire achieved its ambition, conquering Lankirk, forcing Harig into vassalage, and moving its capital into the heart of dwarven lands. With the dwarves subdued and the alliance unraveling, trust among the realms waned. The world, once united against the Demon King, now smoldered in the ashes of discord.

44. #44Epoch of the Known World PART 8 – The Exploration Age

    After the Age of Ashes, the Known World turned outward in search of renewal. The legacy of the Hero’s Party continued to inspire, driving men and women to form their own companies of wanderers, mercenaries, and seekers of fortune. Drawn by glory, curiosity, or coin, these adventurers roamed far and wide—delving into forgotten ruins, defending villages against monsters, and uncovering secrets unearthed by wars of ages past.

    Yet their growing presence brought as much chaos as aid. Rivalries among bands escalated, and the unregulated pursuit of treasure sowed disorder. Petty lords hired adventurers as mercenaries, sparking local wars, while villages were left to suffer at the hands of unscrupulous sellswords.

    To meet this crisis—and answer the pleas of scholars eager to recover the mysteries of ancient civilizations—the Kingdom of Tabbiris, with representatives of the Alliance, scholars, and explorers, founded the Adventurer’s Guild. Supported by the great arcane and historical institutions of Kirkfall, the Guild became both a stabilizing force and a symbol of renewal.

    Thus, the Exploration Age was marked not only by the rediscovery of lost lore, but also by the birth of a profession that would shape the centuries to come.

45. #45Epoch of the Known World PART 9 – Renaissance Age

    In the centuries following the Exploration Age, the Adventurer’s Guild grew into a pillar of society, its halls spreading across Kirkfall and beyond. Guild-sponsored expeditions charted ruins, mapped unclaimed lands, and extended their reach even to the edge of the Frozenlands, where they founded an outpost known as The Star.

    Though steamcraft had its roots in dwarven ingenuity during the Rise of Men—once confined to crude hearth-engines and mountain forges—its potential truly blossomed in this age. Portable heating systems and gaslamps, first carried to Kirkfall by dwarven adventurers and traders during the Age of Ashes, inspired a wave of human innovation. Nobles embraced steamwork as a symbol of progress, while scholars and entrepreneurs refined it into marvels such as airships, industrial engines, and citywide lighting.

    The first to master these inventions were the dwarves of Harig, now bound under the dominion of the Darnine Empire. With their craft harnessed to imperial ambition, the Empire pioneered the use of drakedust propellants, creating proto–gunblades and gunlances—swords and spears capable of firing pellets. Traditional siege engines were gradually abandoned, replaced with drakedust-fueled cannons that could shatter fortifications once thought impregnable. At the same time, the Lysander Trading Company became the first to employ airships for commerce, forever changing the scale of trade and travel.

    Yet steamcraft remained costly, its reach limited to the great cities and wealthy districts. Even so, for those unable to wield magic—be they noble or common—these machines offered hope of a life no longer bound by sorcery alone. The Renaissance Age thus marked a flowering of craft and ambition, as invention promised to remake the Known World.

46. #46The Hollowing

    Keys: The Hollowing, Husk, Husks, Parasthagoria

    The Hollowing—also referred to in scholarly texts as Parasthagoria—is an eldritch parasitic affliction capable of transforming humans and other living beings into mindless, animated husks.

    According to historical records, the first known outbreak occurred prior to the Great Siege of the Dark Age, in the small town of Halvers, South Kirkfall. During this period, the demon army, commanded by the demon warlord Guister, descended upon the town, slaughtering its inhabitants. Those slain were subsequently reanimated through unknown demonic means, becoming the first recorded husks.

    Husks are described as undead yet animated hosts, their bodies controlled by a parasitic entity residing in the throat—or sometimes embedded in bite wounds. From the parasite’s tendrils, which often protrude from the victim’s mouth or wounds, the host’s brain is commandeered. Intelligence is dulled, but sensory perception is heightened, pain is imperceptible, and the body is driven by hunger and demonic compulsion.

    The Hollowing spreads rapidly. Any victim bitten by a husk becomes infected, the parasite maturing within less than an hour and fully transforming the host into a husk. Some husks are cunning enough to pose as normal people, lying in wait until their victims enter isolated settlements, at which point they can overwhelm communities en masse.

    The only confirmed methods of halting the Hollowing are decapitation or cremation. During the initial outbreak at Halvers, Alliance forces resorted to burning the town to prevent further spread. This grim tactic was later repeated during the Great Siege of Astaron, when Hero’s Party and Alliance armies encountered husks while assaulting the Demon King’s citadel.

    Lifespan: 70–90 years

    Versatile and driven, humans dominate much of the world through adaptability. Found in all walks of life, from peasants to kings, mages to mercenaries.

    Trivia: “Hyur” is a derogatory term used by High Elves to describe humans. The word originally came from “Hyurkins,” the ancient name once borne by the Elves themselves (both High Elves and Dark Elves) during the Forgotten Age—also called the Age of Icarion—when they were persecuted by Dragonkins. After the Elves cast aside that name, the term resurfaced in the Golden Age, twisted by the High Elves as an insult toward the first humans. These humans, migrating from Bathan and the Frozenlands into Kirkfall, began settling in the Elves’ sacred woods—an act that provoked the High Elves’ scorn and hostility.

    Lifespan: 200–400 years

    Often referred to by scholars as Common Elves, these are the descendants of once-majestic High Elven bloodlines, now diminished through centuries of war, exile, and mingling with humankind. They are generally divided into two broad groups:

    City Elves – Those who dwell among humans in towns and cities, often taking roles as scholars, artisans, or magisters. Their lives are more entwined with mortal kingdoms, and their traditions less rigid than their forest-dwelling kin.

    Forest Elves – Those who maintain secluded settlements deep within ancient woods, preserving older customs and a stronger bond with the wilds.

    Though less lofty than their ancestors, Common Elves remain graceful, perceptive, and deeply attuned to both nature and the arts. They are admired for their long memory, elegance, and affinity for subtle magics, yet also pitied by High Elves for their “diluted” heritage.

    Lifespan: 90–180 years

    Born from human and elf unions—typically of lesser elf lineage—half-elves often walk between two worlds, accepted by neither fully. They possess a longer lifespan than humans and share some elven features, such as subtly pointed ears or an otherworldly charm.
