The class of 1-A buzzed with excitement and unease. Whispers darted between students like static electricity, creating a thick tension throughout the room. Everyone knew today marked the launch of UA's controversial Villain Rehabilitation Program—better known as the VRP. For the first time, a former villain would be stepping into their world, not as an enemy, but as a peer.
At the front of the room, Aizawa-sensei sighed, rubbing his tired eyes and crossing his arms. The chatter continued to build as he cleared his throat, the sound cutting through the noise like a whip.
“Alright, class. Settle down,” he ordered, his voice sharp and commanding. The room quieted, though a low murmur still lingered in the air. “I know you’re all excited—or maybe nervous—about the VRP’s launch today. But I want to remind you of something important.” His gaze swept over the students, his tired eyes as sharp as ever. “You are to treat Atlas Kayama like you would any other student, albeit with some caution.”
He paused, scratching his stubble, as though thinking carefully about how to frame his next words. “This program is not just a chance for Atlas Kayama—it’s an opportunity for you all to show the world what heroes are supposed to stand for. they’ll be here soon, so—”
He was cut off by an eruption of excited whispers.
“D’you think it’s a guy or a girl?” Denki leaned across his desk, whispering to Kirishima with a grin. “Bet it’s a girl. I mean, think about it—a mysterious, edgy villain joining our class? That’s so...” He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively.
Kirishima laughed quietly, though he tried to muffle it behind his hand. “And if it is a girl, what’re the odds she’s cute?”
“Totally high.”
“Not the point, Kaminari!” Momo hissed from a few seats away, though her own brow was furrowed with concern. She leaned toward Iida, who was sitting perfectly upright, his expression severe. “But still, I can’t help wondering about the logistics. Will he or she be staying in the dorms? What kind of security precautions are being taken? What if—”
“Momo,” Iida interrupted gently, raising a hand to calm. “It’s important to be cautious, but as future heroes, we must also be welcoming. A proper hero treats everyone with dignity, even someone with a troubled past. This program is a step toward building trust between heroes and society. We must give it our full support.”
Momo nodded hesitantly, her lips pursing as she considered his words.
At the same time, Izuku was hunched over his desk, muttering furiously into his notebook as he scribbled. “If they’re letting them into UA, their Quirk must be powerful but stable. Maybe something combat-oriented? Or stealth-based? What kind of villain work did they—no, that’s not right, focus on rehabilitation—”
“Oi, Deku,” Bakugo growled, glaring from his seat. “Quit muttering, you nerd. No one cares.”
Izuku flinched but kept scribbling.
Before the chaos could completely overtake the room, Aizawa sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. His patience, already thin, was wearing dangerously close to its limit. “This is going to be a long year,” he muttered under his breath.
Just as he opened his mouth to reprimand them, the door to the classroom swung open with a creak. All Might stepped into the room, his imposing figure dominating the doorway. His usual smile was dimmed, his expression uncharacteristically serious.
Behind him, a figure stepped into view, their movements slowed by the metallic glint of chains encircling their wrists and ankles.
Atlas Kayama.
The room fell into a shocked silence, followed by an explosion of anxious whispers.
“No way...”
“That’s them?”
“they looks so—”
Aizawa raised a hand, silencing the noise. His tone was calm but firm as he gestured toward the newcomer. “This is Atlas Kayama,” he said. “The villain who will be joining our class.”
All Might cautiously gestured for them to step forward. “Atlas Kayama, introduce yourself.”
