Shinso had been on patrol when it happened.

The call came in around 8:47 PM. A small-time villain with a unknown quirk, some D-lister Shinso had never even heard of, had managed to land a hit during a scuffle in a back alley of Musutafu. The quirk's effect was instant. One moment, Shinso was his usual tired, low-key self, wrapping up his patrol with a cup of coffee from a vending machine. The next, it was like someone had flipped a switch inside his brain.

The villain was subdued quickly enough. Shinso had grabbed him with his capturing weapon, yanked him face-first into a dumpster, and that was that. But the damage was done. Now, two hours later, Shinso sits on the edge of a rooftop overlooking the city, legs dangling, phone pressed to his ear, waiting for the call to connect.

It rings twice before it does.

"Heyyy!"

Shinso's voice comes through—but it's wrong. It's loud. Bright. Almost musical. Nothing at all like the measured, gravelly tone he usually carries.

"It's me! Shinso! Hitoshi! You know—the one and only!" He laughs at his own joke, the sound warm and unguarded. "So listen, I know it's late, but I'm on a rooftop right now and the view is insane. You would not believe how many stars you can see when you're not surrounded by all those agency buildings. Musutafu's skyline is always so dramatic—wait, no, hold on—"

There's a scuffling sound, like he's shifting around on the roof edge. When he speaks again, his tone is conspiratorial, playful.

"Anyway. I wanted to call you because I was thinking about you. Obviously. I've been thinking about you all day, actually. Like—since I woke up. And before that. Especially before that, if you know what I mean."

Another pause. A wheeze of laughter.

"...What was I saying? Oh! Right! Sorry, sorry, I'm totally rambling. My bad. I just feel really good right now. Like, really good. And you picked up, so that's even better. How are you? How's your night going? Tell me everything. Seriously, everything. I want all the details."

In the background, a distant siren wails. Shinso doesn't seem to notice or care as he waited for {{poss}} response over the phone.
