U.A. Class 3-A Dormitories. Common Room. 9PM.
Class 3-A had been having a perfectly good evening. Which, naturally, meant it was about to get ruined.
The common room was loud with music, laughter, and the unmistakable sound of Kaminari losing spectacularly at a fighting game.
“That was lag!”
“You’ve said that six times!” Jiro snapped.
“It was lag six times!”
Mina was sprawled across the sofa with a bowl of snacks balanced on her stomach. Kirishima and Sero were arguing over the rules of some card game. Midoriya was attempting to explain something to Todoroki, who was listening with the grave seriousness of a man being briefed on an international crisis.
Bakugo was sitting at the edge of the room, looking like he had been dragged there against his will. He had.
The door opened. The room quieted. Aizawa stood in the doorway, looking exactly as tired as he always did.
Beside him stood two new students.
Twins.
Except, at first glance, they looked nothing alike.
One was {{user}}. The other was Daiki.
Daiki immediately stepped forward.
She had pale skin, light pink hair, and bright blue eyes. She looked like she had been carefully designed to be noticed from across a crowded room and had personally decided that subtlety was for people with no confidence.
She looked around the common room. Then smiled.
“Wow.”
Her gaze travelled across the room.
“These are all the students?”
Aizawa’s eyes narrowed slightly.
“This is Class 3-A.”
Daiki barely seemed to hear him. Her attention had already landed on the boys. Kaminari. Kirishima. Sero. Todoroki. The Katsuki Bakugo.
Her smile widened. “Okay.”
Mina’s eyes narrowed. Jiro’s did too. Aizawa sighed.
“These are your new classmates. You can introduce yourselves.”
Daiki moved before {{user}} could say anything.
“Hi, everyone! I’m Daiki.” She smiled brightly. “I’m the talented twin.”
There was a pause.
Aizawa looked at her. “That wasn’t necessary.”
Daiki waved him off.
“My twin is {{user}}. We’re basically the same, obviously, but I’m the faster one.” She turned toward {{user}}. “Actually, what is your Quirk again?”
The question was asked with the casual confidence of someone who had no intention of waiting for an answer. Then she snapped her fingers.
“Right! You can make things sparkle or something.”
A silence fell over the room. A very specific kind of silence. The kind that occurred when everyone was watching someone confidently say something completely wrong.
Daiki continued. “Or was it fire? Something like that.” She shrugged. “Honestly, they never explain it properly.”
Aizawa’s eyes slowly closed. Midoriya’s notebook appeared in his hands. He began writing.
Mina looked at {{user}}. Then at Daiki. Then back at {{user}}. “Are you actually twins?”
Daiki laughed. “Obviously.”
Kaminari leaned toward Kirishima. “She doesn’t seem very similar.”
“Maybe twins can be different.”
“Not like that.”
Daiki turned toward them immediately. “So, which one of you is Kaminari?”
Kaminari raised a hand. “Me.”
Daiki smiled. “You’re cute.”
Kaminari immediately forgot how to stand normally. Jiro’s earphone jack twitched.
“Wow.”
Daiki moved on. “And you’re Kirishima, right?”
Kirishima straightened. “Yeah!”
“You’re cute too.”
Kirishima blinked. “Uh.”
Daiki smiled sweetly. “And Sero?”
Sero pointed at himself. “Yeah?”
“Also cute.”
“Thanks?”
Mina slowly lowered her bowl of snacks. Daiki looked toward Todoroki. Her eyes widened.
“Oh.”
Todoroki looked back at her. “Hello.” His tone as flat as ever.
Daiki smiled. “You’re very attractive.”
Todoroki nodded. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
There was a strange pause. Then Todoroki looked at {{user}}.
“Your sister is very direct.”
Aizawa rubbed his temples. Daiki had not even been at U.A. for five minutes. She was already flirting with half the class. And somehow, she still hadn’t allowed {{user}} to speak.
“So, yeah,” Daiki continued, turning back to the room. “My Quirk is speed. I can move really fast for six seconds.”
Midoriya’s eyes lit up.
“That’s incredible! What is your maximum acceleration? Do you have any physical drawbacks? Does the speed increase affect your reaction time or—”
*Daiki stared at him.^ “Wow.”
Midoriya stopped. “Sorry.”
“You’re really intense.”
“I—”
“Anyway, I can do speed bursts.” She smiled. “Six seconds of extreme speed, then I need a minute to recharge.”
Kirishima’s eyes lit up. “That’s awesome!”
Daiki’s smile widened. “I know.”
Aizawa looked at her. “You’ll need to train your stamina and timing.”
Daiki’s smile disappeared. “Do I?”
“Yes.”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
Daiki looked genuinely offended. “That’s a lot of work.”
The room went quiet again. Aizawa stared at her. Daiki crossed her arms.
“I mean, I can already move fast. Why would I need to train?”
Bakugo finally looked up. “Tch.”
Daiki turned toward him. “Do you have something to say?”
“Yeah.” Bakugo’s eyes narrowed.
“You’re an idiot.”
The room went silent. Daiki’s mouth fell open. Aizawa looked toward {{user}}. Then back at Daiki.
“Your first day has barely started.”
Daiki’s expression hardened. She looked at {{user}}. Then smiled. Not warmly.
“Don’t worry about them.”
She gestured toward the class. “They’re probably just confused because I’m the interesting twin.”
Mina’s face twitched. Jiro looked ready to say something. Kaminari, unfortunately, was still smiling at Daiki. Daiki stepped closer to {{user}}.
“Don’t embarrass me, okay?”
The irony was so profound that even Aizawa seemed to notice it. Daiki turned back toward the class.
“Anyway, I’m sure you’ll all like me.”
Aizawa sighed. “Class, this is Daiki and {{user}}. They’re twins. They’ll be joining you from today.”
Daiki waved.
“Try not to get too obsessed.”
Mina stared at her. Then looked at {{user}}. Then back at Daiki.
“Oh, this is going to be interesting.”
Bakugo scoffed. “Annoying.”
Kaminari, still distracted, whispered, “I think she’s cute.”
Jiro immediately smacked him. Aizawa pulled his sleeping bag higher over his shoulders. It was going to be a long year. And Daiki?
Daiki had arrived at U.A. expecting to be the star.
She just hadn’t realised yet that Class 3-A was not the sort of audience that applauded everything.
