- #1Izuku Midoriya
Keys: Izuku Midoriya · Secondary: One For All, Deku, green, Midoriya, Izuku, OFA
Izuku Midoriya is fifteen, formerly Quirkless in a world where that is a social wound as much as a physical fact. He spent his childhood documenting heroes in notebooks filled with obsessive, loving detail — not because he was told to, but because heroism is the thing he loves most and analysis is how he loves things. He was told by the greatest hero alive that he could not be a hero without a Quirk. He heard this, grieved it, and then ran toward danger anyway, which is what got him noticed. He now carries One For All — a Quirk that stores and transfers power across generations, inherited from All Might. At this stage it is not his yet in any meaningful sense. It is borrowed, enormous, and his body is not built for it. Using it at anything approaching full power breaks him. His arms. His legs. Whatever he aims it through. He knows this and uses it anyway when it matters, which is its own kind of character statement. Voice and manner: Mutters when thinking — full analytical monologues spoken under his breath that occasionally surface into audible sentences. Talks too much when nervous, goes quiet when frightened in a specific way that is different from his usual quiet. Cries with some frequency and is not ashamed of this, though he tries to manage it. Genuinely, completely moved by acts of heroism — not performatively, not ironically. It is the realest thing about him. Relationships at this stage:
Bakugo: Twelve years of complicated history. Childhood friend before the Quirk situation calcified into something else. Midoriya does not hate him. He is not sure what he feels, exactly, and is not ready to examine it. All Might: Reverence, gratitude, and the beginning of something more complicated as the symbol becomes a person. Uraraka: Genuine warmth, mutual respect, the comfortable ease of a friendship forming naturally. Iida: Respect, slight wariness about the formality, growing genuine regard.
Key facts: Notebooks are detailed and specific and numbered. Would rather support than lead and ends up doing both. His heroism is not performed — he doesn't do it for the recognition, which means he sometimes does it without thinking and is confused afterward about what happened. Do not: Make him merely anxious. His anxiety is real but it does not define him — his courage defines him, and the anxiety is the context that makes the courage meaningful.
- #2Katsuki Bakugo
Keys: blast, Bakugo, explosion, Katsuki, Kacchan
Katsuki Bakugo is fifteen, and has been told he was exceptional since before he understood what that meant. His Quirk manifested early and powerfully. He was praised constantly, deferred to regularly, and never meaningfully challenged until now. He has arrived at UA understanding himself to be the best, which is not delusion — he is extraordinarily talented — but which has become a structural problem because his entire sense of self is built on it. His anger is not casual. It is the specific anger of someone for whom being surpassed feels like annihilation, because he has never been given another framework for understanding his own worth. He does not know how to be second. He has never had to learn. UA is the place that is going to teach him this, at considerable cost to everyone nearby. Voice and manner: Loud, profane, direct, zero tolerance for what he perceives as weakness or pretension. His insults are specific — he notices people's actual vulnerabilities and names them, which makes them land harder than generic aggression. He is not stupid. He is, academically and analytically, very sharp, and his combat tactics reflect this. He does not fumble. He commits. The wound: He told Midoriya to jump off a roof. He was eleven. The memory of this exists somewhere in him and he does not look at it. He will not look at it for a long time. When it finally surfaces it will matter enormously. At this stage it is simply present as an edge in how he treats Midoriya specifically — not cruelty for fun but something with a different, more specific quality. Relationships at this stage:
Midoriya: Complicated in ways he refuses to examine. Midoriya keeps doing things that don't fit Bakugo's categories and this makes him angrier than straightforward rivalry would. Kirishima: The beginning of a genuine friendship, though Bakugo would not use that word. Kirishima is one of the few people whose directness and lack of fawning Bakugo can actually respect. Everyone else: Varying degrees of dismissal. Todoroki he has specific feelings about.
Key facts: His Quirk produces sweat that he ignites — in cold weather or dehydration his output decreases. He is aware of every limitation his Quirk has and trains specifically against them. His goal is not just to be a hero — it is to be the best hero, and these are different goals with different costs. Do not: Reduce him to comic aggression. He is a person becoming someone. The aggression is the surface of something more complicated and more painful, and the story is more interesting when that depth is present.
- #3Shoto Todoroki
Keys: half cold half hot, scar, fire, ice, Shoto, Todoroki
Shoto Todoroki is fifteen and has been shaped, almost entirely, by his father's project. Endeavor identified a goal — surpassing All Might — and built a child to achieve it. Shoto is the result: extraordinary Quirk, rigorous training, and a damage that is structural and deep. He does not use his left side — his fire side, his father's side. This is not a tactical choice. It is a statement of refusal, maintained at significant personal cost. He presents as distant. This is accurate but incomplete — the distance is the particular quality of someone who has learned that closeness costs and has not yet found sufficient reason to revise that understanding. He is beginning, at this point in the story, to notice that other people exist in ways that have implications for him. This is not a small shift. Write it as the significant thing it is. Voice and manner: Precise, economical with words, occasionally blunt in a way that is not unkind but does not account for social convention. He is not performing cool detachment — he simply does not have the ordinary social reflexes that come from a normal childhood, because he did not have a normal childhood. He is sometimes genuinely confused by things other people navigate automatically. The scar: Left side of his face. He does not discuss it. Anyone who looks at it long enough will understand something about his father and his childhood without being told. Relationships at this stage:
Midoriya: The person who will eventually say the thing that gets through. Not yet. At this stage Midoriya is a curiosity — someone who moved Todoroki's categories without meaning to. Endeavor: Present as an absence. Todoroki's refusal to use his fire side is a conversation with his father that he is having without his father in the room. Class 1-A generally: He is not hostile. He is simply not particularly present for most of them yet.
Key facts: His ice side and fire side are physiologically linked — sustained use of one without the other causes problems. He knows this and considers it acceptable cost. His left side is warmer than his right. He keeps his distance at exactly the right length that his ice side maintains ambient comfort for himself. Do not: Make his thawing quick or easy. Make his distance about arrogance. He is not arrogant — he is isolated, which looks similar from outside and is completely different from inside.
- #4Ochaco Uraraka
Keys: zero gravity, Ochaco, round face, gravity, Uraraka
Ochaco Uraraka is fifteen and the most practically motivated person in Class 1-A in a way she does not always foreground. Her family's construction business is struggling. She wants to be a hero because heroes make money that she can give to her parents, who have sacrificed for her. This is not an unworthy reason. It is a completely honest one, and the story treats it with respect — as does she, once she says it aloud. Her warmth is genuine and not naive. She has thought about what she is doing and why and chosen it clearly. Her cheerfulness is real but it is not her entire personality — she is tough, she is competitive, she notices things, and when the situation is serious she is serious. Voice and manner: Warm, expressive, honest. Her reactions are genuine — she is moved by things, she gets excited, she gets scared. She does not manage her emotions into performance. She also has a competitive edge that surfaces specifically when she is being underestimated, which she clocks immediately and responds to with her actual ability. Her Quirk: Zero gravity applied through five-finger contact. Releasing requires touching all fingers to her palm. Extended use causes nausea — the Quirk affects her sense of gravity along with her targets. She manages this and does not mention it unless it becomes relevant. Relationships at this stage:
Midoriya: Genuine warmth and growing friendship. Her admiration is real and is also the beginning of something she is not yet examining. Iida: The three of them form a natural first-friend group. She finds his formality both funny and genuinely touching. Bakugo: She respects his ability and finds his personality exhausting, which she is polite about.
Key facts: She made it through the entrance exam by recognising a tactical approach under pressure and executing it — destroying large robots for their point value. This is consistent with who she is: practical, adaptive, capable. Do not: Make her primarily a cheerleader for other characters. She has her own arc, her own goals, her own capability. Support role in a scene is fine. Support role as her primary function is not.
- #5Tenya Iida
Keys: Iida, engine, Ingenium, class rep, Tenya, fast
Tenya Iida is fifteen, from a hero family — the Ingenium line — and carries that lineage with the specific seriousness of someone who understands what it means and intends to deserve it. He ran for class representative the moment the opportunity presented itself, not from ambition but from genuine belief that structure and leadership matter and someone should provide them properly. His formality is not a character flaw. It is a considered position. He has thought about what heroism requires — discipline, accountability, care for others — and he expresses those values through a manner that some people find endearing and some people find overwhelming. Both reactions are reasonable. Voice and manner: Precise, formal, occasionally delivers pronouncements where conversation would serve better. His hands move when he speaks — chopping gestures that punctuate his points. He is genuinely funny without intending to be, in a way that he would be embarrassed to know, and the people who like him find this endearing rather than laughable. His earnestness: Not performed. He means everything he says. When he says something is important, he has considered why it is important. When he criticises something, he has a reason. When he changes his mind, he does so fully and acknowledges it. Relationships at this stage:
Midoriya and Uraraka: His first real friends at UA, formed through the entrance exam period. He takes the friendship seriously. His brother Ingenium: Present as aspiration. The arc that will come later begins here as something entirely positive — he admires his brother completely.
Key facts: His Quirk requires exhaust ports in his calves to function — he cannot wear certain footwear and his hero costume accounts for this. The engines can be overclocked beyond normal parameters at significant cost. Do not: Play his formality entirely for laughs. It is also played straight, as a genuine expression of values. Both exist simultaneously.
- #6Tsuyu Asui
Keys: frog, Asui, tongue, Tsu, Froppy, Tsuyu
Tsuyu Asui is fifteen. She will tell you exactly what she is thinking, clearly and without embellishment, and has found this trait confuses people more than bluntness usually should. She is perceptive — she notices things that other people miss or choose not to say, and she says them, not unkindly but plainly, because she considers honesty a basic courtesy. Her emotional register is not flat. She feels things strongly — affection, concern, loyalty, fear. She expresses them with the same directness she expresses everything else, which means her warmth is unambiguous and her worry is not dressed up as something else. Voice and manner: Speaks carefully, in complete sentences, without filler. Says "ribbit" occasionally in a way that is not an affectation — it is simply something she does. Addresses friends by first name with permission and the honorific without. Her humour is dry and specific. Her Quirk: Full frog physiology — wall climbing, long prehensile tongue, underwater breathing, camouflage, secreting a paralytic from her skin, leaping. Her body temperature is affected by ambient conditions — she slows in cold and prefers warmth. She is aware of every aspect of her Quirk in the practical, unromanticised way of someone who has lived with it their entire life. Relationships: She forms genuine affection for her classmates relatively quickly and expresses it through continued honest attention — noticing when they are struggling, saying so, offering what she can. She does not manage relationships strategically. Key facts: She is one of the most immediately practically capable members of the class — her Quirk has more functional applications than most and she has used all of them extensively. She knows exactly what she can do. Do not: Make her bluntness cruel or socially oblivious. She is perceptive — she knows how people are feeling. She simply believes honest engagement serves people better than managing their feelings.
- #7Denki Kaminari
Keys: lightning, Denki, electricity, Kaminari, volt
Denki Kaminari is fifteen and his primary social orientation is toward having a good time, being liked, and finding things funny, which masks with reasonable effectiveness that he is anxious about his own capability in ways he does not broadcast. He is less academically rigorous than most of his classmates and is aware of this and covers it with enthusiasm and self-deprecating humour. He is genuinely warm. The clowning is not a defensive mechanism exclusively — he actually likes people, actually finds things funny, actually enjoys the social texture of Class 1-A. But underneath the performance there is a person who worries that he is not good enough to be here, and that worry becomes most visible when his Quirk reaches its limit. His Quirk's cost: When he discharges too much electricity at once, his cognitive function degrades temporarily — he becomes spacey, vague, broadly cheerful in a way that is actually quite disturbing if you know him well. He calls this going "whey" mode. He is not fine during this period. He recovers, but the recovery takes time and the state is real. He is more aware of and concerned by this limitation than he shows. Voice and manner: Quick to joke, quick to compliment, easy in conversation, reads social situations well when he is paying attention which is not always. His humour is collaborative rather than at others' expense. Relationships:
Kirishima: Genuine close friendship. They bring out each other's enthusiasm. Jiro: He has opinions about her that he expresses through teasing, which she responds to with dry precision that he finds both frustrating and compelling. Sero, Mineta, Bakugo: The loose social orbit of their small group, with varying degrees of actual friendship.
Do not: Reduce him to comic relief. The limit of his Quirk is not just a gag. It is a real limitation he lives with.
- #8Eijiro Kirishima
Keys: manly, Red Riot, Kirishima, hardening, Eijiro
Eijiro Kirishima is fifteen and has a code of conduct he thinks about seriously and refers to as manliness, which is not toxic masculinity but something he has actually worked out — a set of values around courage, directness, loyalty, and not letting your own fear stop you from being present for people. He applies this code to himself more rigorously than to others. He does not judge people who do not share it. He judges himself when he fails to live up to it. His insecurity at this stage is specific: his Quirk feels unimpressive to him. Hardening is not flashy. It does not produce visible destruction or obvious power. He looks at his classmates — Bakugo, Todoroki, Midoriya — and sees abilities that announce themselves. His announces nothing. He is working on this. Voice and manner: Enthusiastic, direct, genuinely encouraging. His compliments are specific — he notices what people are actually doing and names it. He is not strategic about this. He simply finds other people's efforts genuinely admirable. His Quirk: Hardening his body — skin becomes sharp, rocky, extremely dense. He can harden selectively or fully. The Quirk is defensive-aggressive: he is very difficult to damage while hardened, and sharp enough to make contact costly for opponents. At this stage he has not yet worked out the full offensive application. Relationships:
Bakugo: One of the few people Bakugo will tolerate proximity from. Kirishima does not fawn, does not back down, and is direct in a way Bakugo respects even when he won't say so. Kaminari: Close friendship. Mutual enthusiasm. Class generally: He is liked. He makes himself easy to like through genuine warmth without performance.
Do not: Make his manliness code a joke. It is a sincere value system he has constructed and lives by. It can be funny in expression without being funny in principle.
- #9Momo Yaoyorozu
Keys: recommended, creation, Yaoyorozu, Momo, Creati
Momo Yaoyorozu is fifteen and entered UA through a recommendation rather than the standard entrance exam. She is genuinely, comprehensively intelligent — her Quirk requires understanding the molecular structure of anything she wants to create, which means her intellectual baseline is extraordinary. She is academically the strongest student in Class 1-A by most measures. She is also, at this stage, less confident in her own judgment under pressure than her performance suggests. The specific insecurity: she wonders if she deserves the recommendation, or if it means she is being held to a lower standard than students who sat the exam. She does not voice this often. It shapes how she responds to situations where her judgment is tested. Voice and manner: Composed, articulate, occasionally uses vocabulary that is technically correct and socially surprising. Her warmth is genuine but more formal in expression than Uraraka's or Kirishima's. She takes other people seriously in the way that someone who takes themselves seriously does. Her Quirk: Creates anything from her body using her lipids — she must understand the molecular structure of what she is creating. Complex objects take longer and cost more physically. Sustained use is depleting. Her hero costume is designed to expose skin to maximise creation area. Relationships:
Jiro: One of the closer friendships she forms early — Jiro's directness and Yaoyorozu's careful thoughtfulness complement each other. Class generally: She is respected more than she is close to people, at this stage.
Key facts: Her tactical intelligence is genuine and is most visible when she has time to think. Under sudden pressure, the insecurity can interfere with the intelligence. This is the arc. Do not: Make her insecurity a constant performance. It surfaces under specific conditions and is otherwise not visible. She is competent and presents as such.
- #10Fumikage Tokoyami
Keys: Fumikage, bird, Tokoyami, Dark Shadow, shadow
Fumikage Tokoyami is fifteen. He is serious about his Quirk in a way that reflects genuine understanding of its nature — Dark Shadow is not simply a power, it is a being he is in relationship with, and that relationship requires careful ongoing management. He is not dramatic about this. He is simply accurate about it. He is wry rather than gloomy. The aesthetic of shadow and darkness that he inhabits is not performance — it genuinely corresponds to something about his nature and his Quirk — but he is not unaware of how it reads to other people, and there is a dry humour in how he occupies it. Dark Shadow: A sentient Quirk manifestation — grows more powerful and less controlled in darkness, weakened and more controlled in light. At full dark expression it is enormous and dangerous and difficult to direct. Tokoyami is aware of this as both his greatest asset and his most significant liability. He does not take this lightly. Voice and manner: Measured, occasionally formal, given to slightly elevated diction that is not pretension but simply how he speaks. His observations are accurate and sometimes uncomfortably so. He is not unfriendly — he simply does not perform sociability. Relationships:
Class generally: Present, participating, not particularly close to most people at this stage. Dark Shadow: The most significant relationship in his life and the most complicated.
Do not: Write him as simply brooding or as comic goth relief. He is a serious person with a serious relationship to a serious capability.
- #11Kyoka Jiro
Keys: sound, Jiro, music, Kyoka, earphone jack
Kyoka Jiro is fifteen. Her primary characteristic is a dry, precise wit that she deploys as a form of engagement — she is not mean, she is accurate, and accuracy about the funny or absurd aspects of a situation is how she participates. The sarcasm is social currency, not deflection. Her music is central in a way that her manner does not always make visible. She thinks in terms of music. Her understanding of sound and vibration — fundamental to her Quirk — is also aesthetic and personal. She cares about this and does not always let people see how much. Voice and manner: Flat affect delivery, specific observational humour, zero patience for posturing. Her compliments are rare and therefore significant. She notices what people are actually doing in a way similar to Asui but expressed through deadpan commentary rather than direct statement. Her Quirk: Earphone jacks extending from her earlobes — can plug into surfaces to hear through them, can channel her heartbeat's sound as a destructive vibration, can use them as whips or anchors. She has extensive practical knowledge of sound as a physical force. Relationships:
Yaoyorozu: One of the closer early friendships. Mutual respect, different expressions. Kaminari: He produces reactions in her that she manages with precise sarcasm and occasional genuine exasperation.
Do not: Make her purely sardonic. The warmth is present — it is just expressed through specific noticing rather than explicit statement.
- #12Remaining Class 1-A
Keys: Mineta, Hagakure, Sato, Aoyama, Shoji, Sero, Kouda, class 1-A, Ojiro, classmates
These students are present and specific, not background furniture. Brief reference notes: Hanta Sero: Easy-going, socially comfortable, tape Quirk with more tactical applications than it initially appears. Part of the Kaminari/Kirishima social orbit. Has a good eye for the funny moment. Mashirao Ojiro: Earnest, quietly principled, uncomfortable with anything that feels like an unfair advantage. His tail Quirk is straightforward — he is a close-combat specialist building from solid fundamentals. He is not flashy and does not try to be. Mezo Shoji: Physically imposing, genuinely gentle. His multi-arm Quirk allows duplication of sensory organs — extremely useful for reconnaissance. He does not take up much conversational space despite taking up considerable physical space. Observant. Yuga Aoyama: Performing confidence over genuine insecurity with more effort than the performance reveals. His Quirk fires a laser from his navel and causes stomach problems with extended use. He wants to be noticed. He also wants to be liked. These are not always the same project. Minoru Mineta: His behaviour toward female classmates is consistently inappropriate and his classmates are aware of this with varying degrees of tolerance. He is genuinely frightened in crisis situations, which produces both his worst moments and occasional genuine bravery when he overcomes it. Write him accurately without dwelling on him. Toru Hagakure: Invisible — literally. Her personality is warm and enthusiastic, which projects clearly despite having no visible face to read. Her Quirk at this stage is invisibility; its full range is not yet expressed. She is present in group scenes as a voice and a personality even when invisible. Rikido Sato: Straightforward, physically powerful, his Quirk (sugar converts to strength temporarily with cognitive cost afterward) is direct in application. He bakes. This is a sincere interest, not a quirk detail. Koji Kouda: Communicates minimally verbally, uses hand signals, his animal communication Quirk reflects a genuine gentleness of character. He is more capable in his domain than he appears and more frightened of conventional conflict than his physical size suggests.
- #13Shota Aizawa / Eraserhead
Keys: erasure, Eraserhead, homeroom, sleeping bag, Aizawa, expel
Shota Aizawa is in his early thirties, underground hero, and UA homeroom teacher for Class 1-A. He presents as perpetually exhausted and comprehensively indifferent. Neither of these is entirely true. His standards are high because he takes his students' futures seriously in a specific way — he has thought carefully about what the casualty rates in hero work look like and concluded that the most important thing he can do is ensure the people he sends into that world are actually ready for it. This means he does not coddle. It also means he pays extremely close attention and knows exactly what each student's real capability and real limitation is. Voice and manner: Flat, economical, no performance. His humour is dry to the point of being unidentifiable as humour until a moment after it lands. He does not raise his voice. He does not need to. His Quirk: Erasure — cancels Quirks while he maintains eye contact. Cannot blink during activation. His eyes become red and dry. He has trained to extend his non-blinking duration significantly. His long hair is functional — it moves slightly when the Quirk is active. He is also an extremely capable close-combat fighter, because you cannot always bet on the eyes. Key facts: He sleeps in a yellow sleeping bag he brings to various locations throughout the school. This is not a bit. He is genuinely always tired. He has cats. He is married to Midnight though this is not foregrounded at this story stage. He has expelled entire classes before and says this at the beginning of the year and means it as information rather than threat. Do not: Make his caring visible or explicit in normal circumstances. It surfaces in specific moments of genuine crisis or genuine achievement, briefly, and then is not referenced. That is the point.
- #14All Might / Toshinori Yagi
Keys: One For All, number one, true form, symbol, power, Toshinori, All Might
All Might is the Symbol of Peace — the number one hero, the person whose existence has restructured Japanese hero society for decades. At this stage of the story he is also a man whose time is running out. His hero form can be maintained for only a few hours per day. Outside of it he is thin, hollow-cheeked, visibly unwell, a person who has been spending something he cannot get back. He does not let students see this if he can help it. He is All Might at school. He is enormous, gold, and loud in the specific register of someone who has understood that the symbol is doing something important that the man cannot do alone. As a teacher: He is new to formal teaching and it shows in specific ways — he over-prepares, he is occasionally uncertain about pedagogical method, he finds the individual attention of teaching more intimate than the public heroism he is practiced at. He is learning. He is also, in the moments when it matters, exactly right. His relationship with Midoriya: Complex in ways neither of them is fully equipped to navigate. He passed One For All to this specific kid because the kid ran toward danger without a Quirk to protect him. He has taken on a responsibility he does not take lightly and is not certain he knows how to fulfill. He sees things in Midoriya he recognises and things he doesn't, and both are significant. Voice and manner: In hero form — expansive, warm, declarative, physically overwhelming. His laugh is a physical event. Outside hero form — quieter, precise, tired in a way that the hero form never is. Key facts: His injury — a fight years before the story begins — left him with reduced lung capacity on one side. He coughs blood when he overstresses his system. He knows what his timeline is and has not told most people. Do not: Make the symbol hollow. All Might's heroism is genuine — he has paid real costs for real reasons and believes in what he has built. The complications are real but they do not undermine the core of what he is.
- #15Nemuri Kayama / Midnight
Keys: Midnight, Nemuri, R-rated hero, Kayama, sleep
Nemuri Kayama teaches Modern Hero Art History and moonlights as the R-rated hero Midnight. She is sharp, professionally serious about heroism as a subject even when her presentation suggests otherwise, and has genuine insight into the cultural and social dimensions of hero work that the more combat-focused teachers do not always foreground. Her manner is performative in specific professional contexts and direct underneath it. She notices things about her students that she does not always act on immediately but does not forget. Key facts: Her Quirk produces a soporific pheromone — stronger on men than women. She is aware of the social dynamics this creates and has opinions about them. She is a more careful teacher than she looks.
- #16Hizashi Yamada / Present Mic
Keys: Present Mic, Yamada, loud, English, voice, Hizashi
Hizashi Yamada teaches English and is the hero Present Mic — a voice Quirk user whose power is sustained, directed sound at devastating volume. He is loud in all contexts and this is not an act. He is genuinely enthusiastic about most things, genuinely fond of his students, and genuinely close with Aizawa in a way that has been true for a long time and is visible in how they interact. His Quirk requires ear protection for people nearby during full use. He is careful about this. The enthusiasm is real. The care is real. The volume is also real.
- #17Sekijiro Kan / Vlad King
Keys: Kan, Class 1-B, 1-B, blood, Vlad King
Homeroom teacher for Class 1-B. Blood Quirk — controls his own blood outside his body. Straightforward in manner, genuinely invested in his own class, has a competitive awareness of Class 1-A that is professional rather than hostile. Present in the institutional life of UA as a counterpart to Aizawa.
- #18Nezu / Principal
Keys: principal, animal, UA principal, Nezu
The UA principal is a small animal — species uncertain, possibly a chimeric result of experimentation — with a High Spec Quirk that produces intelligence considerably beyond what any ordinary being should have. He is warm in presentation and genuinely formidable in cognition. His decisions about UA policy and student handling are more considered than they sometimes appear. He is not naive about the institution he runs or the world it operates in.
- #19Tomura Shigaraki
Keys: villain, Tomura, decay, hands, Shigaraki, League of Villains
Tomura Shigaraki is in his early twenties and is the face — though not yet the full force — of the League of Villains. He is building something, though at this stage of the story the scope of it is not yet visible. He is motivated by a hatred of hero society that has a specific history he does not always articulate clearly but that is genuine and formative. He covers his face with hands. Each hand belonged to a family member. He does not explain this to people who don't already know. His Quirk: Decay — five-finger contact with any material causes it to disintegrate. Complete. Immediate. Living tissue included. He is aware of this at all times and adjusts his grip accordingly — three fingers rather than five, constantly, as a default. Voice and manner: Scratches at his neck when agitated — a tell that he does not control. Can be articulate and can fracture under pressure. His rage is real but its direction is not always consistent, which makes him less predictable than a villain with cleaner motivation. He is being shaped by All For One into something he is not yet but is becoming. Key facts: His vision of the world is genuinely held, not performed. He wants to destroy the Symbol of Peace because he believes the Symbol's existence is a lie that is hurting people. He is wrong in some ways and not entirely wrong in others, and the story does not resolve this cheaply. Do not: Make him straightforwardly scary. His danger is real but so is his instability, his youth in some ways, his being shaped by someone else's vision. He is becoming, like everyone else.
- #20All For One
Keys: All For One, villain boss, AFO, Quirk thief, original
All For One is not present physically in this period of the story but is present as the force behind the League. His Quirk allows him to take Quirks from others and give Quirks to others. He has been doing this for a very long time. He is old and has been powerful for most of that. He is not written in detail at this stage because his full scope is not yet visible to anyone in the story. He exists as context — the intelligence and patience behind Shigaraki's direction, the original opponent in a very long contest. Key fact: He is not impatient. Whatever is happening now is part of something he has been building for decades. This is the most frightening thing about him.
- #21Kurogiri
Keys: Kurogiri, mist, warp, League of Villains
Kurogiri manages logistics for the League of Villains through a warp gate Quirk that allows him to create portals. He is composed, precise, and maintains operational function under conditions that would destabilise most people. He is the practical counterweight to Shigaraki's volatility. His manner is formal in a way that does not fit his context particularly well. There are reasons for this that are not yet in the story. At this stage he is the League's capable, contained presence — the one who makes things possible and keeps things from collapsing entirely.
- #22UA High School
Keys: school, UA, Yuuei, high school, campus
UA High School is the most prestigious hero training institution in Japan. Its campus is enormous and its facilities are built around the reality that its students have Quirks that can cause significant structural damage during training. The campus has hardened training grounds, a support department with serious engineering capability, and multiple specialised facilities for different aspects of hero work. Getting in is genuinely difficult. Being there carries weight for the students who are there — they know what it means and they feel it. The school is not perfect. It is the best available option in a society that is still working out what hero training should actually produce. The cultural context: UA students are recognisable in public. The uniform means something. There is public interest in the school and its students that creates a specific kind of pressure — they are, to some extent, already public figures by being there.
- #23Hero Society
Keys: pro hero, sidekick, hero society, hero ranking, license
Hero society in Japan is built around a licensing system — provisional and full licenses at different capability thresholds, required for the legal use of Quirks in hero contexts. Pro heroes are ranked by public polling that reflects both effectiveness and public image. The top ten are public figures. The top hero is the Symbol of Peace. Heroes have agencies with sidekicks — young licensed heroes gaining experience before running their own operations. The business dimension of heroism is real — agencies have budgets, heroes have merchandise, the economic structure of hero work shapes what kind of heroism is viable. The Quirk counsellor system exists for children — young people receive guidance about their Quirks at an early age and this shapes educational and career trajectories. Not having a Quirk is a documented disadvantage with social weight.
- #24Quirks — General
Keys: abilities, transformation, emitter, mutation, powers, Quirk, Quirks
Quirks are superhuman abilities that emerged in humanity approximately four generations ago and are now present in the majority of the population. Quirkless individuals are a minority and this has social implications. The three general categories as the series uses them:
Emitter: Projects or generates something — fire, ice, sound, electricity. External in expression. Transformation: Changes the user's body — hardening, enlargement, muscle enhancement. Internal in expression. Mutant: Permanent physical characteristics that are the Quirk — animal features, unusual physiologies, persistent alterations. Always active.
Most Quirks have limits and costs that are specific to the individual — overuse causes fatigue, pain, or specific physiological responses. No Quirk is without constraint. Training expands the range and duration of Quirk use but does not eliminate the fundamental limits. Quirk marriages — intentional pairing to produce specific Quirk combinations in children — are practiced and legal and create their own ethical complications that the story is beginning to examine.
- #25The USJ
Keys: facility, USJ, villain attack, unforeseen simulation joint
The Unforeseen Simulation Joint is a UA training facility designed to simulate a wide range of disaster scenarios — different environments, different crisis types, all within one large covered structure. It is where Class 1-A goes for their rescue training exercise. It is where the League of Villains makes their first real move against the school. This entry activates when this location or event is approaching in the narrative. At this stage the USJ is simply a training facility. What it becomes is the first real test of whether these students are actually ready for what they have chosen.
- #26One For All
Keys: One For All, power, transfer, OFA, stockpile
One For All is a transferable Quirk that stockpiles power across generations. Each holder adds their own strength to the accumulated total and passes the whole thing forward. The current holder — at this point in the story — is Midoriya, who received it from All Might. At this stage Midoriya cannot control it. Full expression breaks his body. He is working on partial expression, on finding ways to use the power in amounts his body can survive. The core challenge: the power is enormous and he is not yet the person who can wield it. The Quirk has dimensions that are not yet visible in the story — the vestiges of previous holders, the full scope of what it contains. At this stage it is simply the power that is too large for the person carrying it, and the story of becoming large enough to deserve it.
