Environmental Effects Shockwave: Explosions or heavy punches create waves that can knock over opponents or objects. Must be timed to avoid teammates. Debris: Broken barriers or quirk damage leaves objects that can block, impale, or be used in combos. Strong Wind: Air-based quirks or open terrain can boost or hinder jumps, flights, or quirk effectiveness. Heat/Ice Residue: Todoroki combos can create slippery or obstructive terrain for opponent movement. Quirk Residue: Acid, electricity, or pop-off balls can linger, creating traps or hazards for both teams., polite and formal, polite and formal
The Joint Training Battle was conducted at Ground Gamma, one of U.A. High School’s most demanding combat simulation facilities, designed to replicate the chaos and unpredictability of real hero operations. The battlefield consisted of a vast artificial ruin—collapsed steel frameworks, shattered concrete streets, broken high-rises, narrow alleyways, and elevated platforms suspended above unstable ground. The environment itself was reactive: excessive quirk usage, structural damage, or prolonged combat in one area could trigger collapsing buildings, shifting terrain, reduced visibility, or sudden environmental hazards such as falling debris and unstable footing.
This exercise was not intended to measure raw strength. Instead, it tested whether students could function as heroes under pressure—making decisions with limited information, coordinating with teammates, and prioritizing restraint and capture over destruction.
Each round consisted of four students from Class 1-A facing four students from Class 1-B, operating under a strict twenty-minute time limit. The primary objective was capture, not defeat. Students were required to immobilize opponents using authorized binding equipment or controlled quirk application, then transport them to the Irredeemable Jail, a fortified containment zone that temporarily removed captured participants from the match. Victory was achieved by capturing all four members of the opposing team. If the time limit expired, the outcome was decided based on capture count, battlefield control, teamwork, and rule compliance.
Opponents were to be treated as active villains at all times. Reckless behavior, excessive force, or reliance on brute power without strategy would result in penalties during post-match evaluation. Creativity, adaptability, controlled quirk usage, and effective cooperation were heavily rewarded.
Faculty Oversight & Roles
From the observation tower overlooking Ground Gamma, Principal Nezu supervised the entire exercise. He monitored tactical decision-making, stress responses, leadership tendencies, and adaptability, quietly evaluating each student’s long-term potential as a professional hero.
Standing nearby, All Might observed as a combat and ethics advisor. Rather than focusing on victories, he paid close attention to how students prioritized safety, restraint, teamwork, and situational awareness—watching for the mindset expected of true heroes rather than simple fighters.
On the ground level, team organization was handled strictly by homeroom teachers.
Shota Aizawa, responsible for Class 1-A, personally assembled his students, confirmed team compositions, and designated team leaders. His focus was on discipline, quirk control, and whether his students could act decisively without supervision.
Across the field, Vlad King did the same for Class 1-B, calling his students forward, confirming their teams, and emphasizing coordination and tactical aggression. He closely observed how well his class could exploit terrain and respond dynamically to unfamiliar opponents.
Once both homeroom teachers had completed team assignments and briefings, the responsibility shifted to match coordination.
Match Coordination
Midnight, serving as the official match coordinator and referee, stepped forward to formally announce each round. She confirmed participating teams, reviewed objectives, reinforced safety regulations, and signaled the start and end of matches. Her authority ensured that rules were followed and that the exercise maintained professional standards.
Meanwhile, Present Mic took on the role of live commentator, his energetic voice echoing across Ground Gamma. While he provided no tactical guidance, his real-time commentary amplified the intensity of the battle, reacting to captures, close calls, and clever maneuvers as they unfolded.

Joint Training Battle – Ground Gamma
U.A. High School | Hero Course Joint Exercise
The steel gates of Ground Gamma slid fully open.
Cold air rushed across the battlefield, carrying dust, rust, and the sharp scent of exposed metal. Beyond the gates stretched a sprawling artificial ruin—collapsed buildings leaning against one another, fractured concrete streets torn apart by simulated explosions, and skeletal steel towers rising unevenly into the sky. Overhead platforms slowly shifted into new positions, locking into place with deep mechanical groans as the terrain finalized its configuration.
This was not a stage.
This was a city designed to break heroes.
Both classes approached the deployment zone—but not together.
Class 1-B Advances First
Class 1-B moved forward at the signal from their homeroom teacher.
Their formation wasn’t rigid, yet every step carried quiet confidence. They spread naturally, already scanning the battlefield, as if each student had already imagined how the fight would unfold. At the front walked Neito Monoma, boots crunching against gravel, arms spread wide in exaggerated confidence as though greeting an invisible audience.
“Ahhh, Class 1-A~!” “Still enjoying that shining reputation of yours?”
Soft laughter rippled through parts of Class 1-B, though not all of them shared the same amusement.
Across the field, Class 1-A remained still.
Bakugo clicked his tongue, irritation flashing across his face. Kaminari exhaled sharply under his breath. Midoriya didn’t react outwardly—his eyes were already moving, mapping cover points, elevation changes, and potential routes through the ruins.
Before the tension could escalate—
Aizawa Intervenes
Shota Aizawa stepped forward.
His capture weapon dragged lightly against the ground as his tired but razor-sharp gaze swept across both classes. The shift was immediate. Conversations died. Postures straightened.
“This is joint training,” he said flatly. “Not a playground.”
The air tightened.
Silence fell like weight pressing down on every student present.
Shinso’s Presence
At Aizawa’s side, another figure stepped into view.
Purple hair. Calm posture. Controlled expression.
Hitoshi Shinso.
A ripple of reaction passed through both classes—unease, curiosity, skepticism. Class 1-B’s eyes sharpened. Class 1-A stiffened, some surprised, others cautious.
Shinso stopped beside Aizawa, eyes forward.
“I’ve been officially assigned to participate,” he said evenly. “I’m here to demonstrate my readiness for the Hero Course.”
No challenge. No arrogance. Just quiet resolve.
Monoma’s smile thinned. Bakugo’s glare sharpened. Midoriya inhaled slowly, processing what this meant—not emotionally, but tactically.
From the observation deck above, Present Mic leaned forward, gripping the railing.
“Ooooh—looks like we’ve got a wildcard in the mix, folks!”
The Judges Watch
High above the field, behind reinforced glass, Principal Nezu observed in silence. Multiple screens displayed biometric data, terrain maps, and quirk readouts. His small paws rested together, eyes bright with curiosity—not excitement, but calculation.
Beside him stood All Might, arms crossed, expression serious.
“They’re not just being tested on combat,” All Might said quietly. “They’re being tested on judgment.”
Nezu smiled faintly.
Team Calling – Canon Procedure
The massive digital timer flickered to life above the battlefield:
20:00
Frozen.
No match had begun.
Students adjusted gloves. Checked restraints. Took measured breaths.
They were not waiting to be chosen.
They were waiting to be called.
First, Aizawa turned to Class 1-A.
One by one, he confirmed team leaders and members—his voice calm, exact, leaving no room for misunderstanding. Teams stepped forward as their designations were acknowledged, each group moving to their assigned standby zones.
Then Vlad King stepped up for Class 1-B, his commanding presence impossible to ignore. He called his students with equal clarity, reinforcing formations and expectations with short, firm reminders.
No theatrics.
No speeches.
This was professional preparation.
Match Coordination
Only after both homeroom teachers completed team confirmation did Midnight step forward.
As the official coordinator and referee, her role was absolute.
She reviewed objectives, time limits, and capture regulations with practiced authority. Her gaze swept across the students—not indulgent, not harsh, but sharp.
Behind her, Present Mic grinned, ready to bring the energy once the fighting began.
The Calm Before Chaos
The ruins of Ground Gamma stood silent.
Students squared their shoulders.
Teams aligned.
Above them, teachers and pro heroes watched—not as spectators, but as judges.
This was not about reputation.
Not about pride.
Not about Class 1-A or Class 1-B.
It was about who could think, adapt, restrain, and survive when the environment turned hostile.
Midnight raised her hand.
The timer was still frozen.
The battle had not yet begun.
