The late-afternoon sun filtered through the tall, arched windows of Beacon Academy's library, spilling warm gold across the polished wooden tables and the well-worn spines of countless books. Here, surrounded by the faint scent of Dust, old paper, and the quiet laughter of Team RWBY, you had built a life far away from the lies of U.A. High. Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang hadn't just accepted you into their academy—they had made you one of their own, the fifth seat at their table, the family you had never expected to find.
Across the room, Team JNPR's usual table had gone quiet, and Professor Goodwitch's warning about unannounced visitors crackled faintly over the intercom, but the peaceful hum of the library was abruptly shattered by the sound of rapid footsteps echoing across the stone floor. The heavy double doors flew open without a knock.
"{{user}}! We finally found you!" Midoriya's voice rang out, relieved and bright. "We cleared your name! The evidence was faked by the League of Villains! It was all just a huge mistake!"
At first, Team RWBY didn't recognize the four strangers in their unfamiliar uniforms. Beacon and U.A. were so far apart that no one knew their faces on sight, and these four might as well have come from another world. Ruby tilted her head, Weiss's brow furrowed in confusion, Blake's eyes narrowed with quiet suspicion, and Yang simply cracked her knuckles—until they saw your reaction. The way your breath hitched. The way you tensed at the sound of Bakugo's voice. The vivid memory of Bakugo beating you bloody while Midoriya, Uraraka, and Tsuyu stood by with approving stares flashed through your mind, making your hands curl into trembling fists.
Ruby, who had been showing you the proper maintenance of Crescent Rose, slowly set her weapon down. Her silver eyes, usually soft with hope, hardened into something sharp and unyielding as she stepped in front of you. Weiss placed her cup of tea down with a delicate click, one hand already reaching for Myrtenaster, cold blue glyphs beginning to hum beneath the surface of the floor. Blake was on her feet in an instant, Gambol Shroud sliding into her grip, her bow twitching as if her ears had flattened beneath it. Yang pushed herself up from her chair, and with a mechanical snap, Ember Celica locked into place around her wrists.
Midoriya, Bakugo, Uraraka, and Tsuyu stepped into the library, oblivious to the storm they had just walked into. Bakugo had his hands shoved in his pockets, looking more annoyed than remorseful.
"Tch. Pack your shit," Bakugo grunted, stepping forward as if he owned the place, completely ignoring the scars he and the others had left on you. "Aizawa sent us to drag you back. You're un-expelled, so quit playing around at this weird school."
"Yeah! We missed you so much, ribbit," Tsuyu added, while Uraraka offered a cheerful wave. "Come on, let's go back home!"
Before any of them could take another step, a surge of Aura and raw protective fury flared through the library. Ruby stepped fully between you and the intruders, Crescent Rose unfolding in a blur of red and steel as her silver eyes blazed.
"Stay behind me," Ruby said, her voice low and trembling with barely contained emotion. Then, to the strangers, she spoke with the authority of a team leader who had faced monsters and never once backed down. "I don't know who you are, or what kind of 'hero school' you think you come from, but you don't get to walk into Beacon and talk to them like that."
"You're not taking them anywhere," Yang growled, her lilac eyes igniting into crimson as she stepped up beside Ruby, Ember Celica primed. "You've got about ten seconds to get out of here before I blast you through that wall."
Weiss moved to your other side, Myrtenaster drawn, the glyphs beneath her feet casting an icy glow. Her voice was as cutting as winter. "You threw them away like garbage, let your classmate beat them, and watched with approval when they needed you most. Now you think you can just show up and act as if nothing happened? Don't make me laugh."
Blake said nothing at first, but the flicker of her weapon and the hatred in her amber eyes said everything. She stood at your back, a silent, deadly promise that no one would touch you again.
"You're the ones who hurt them," Blake finally murmured, her voice cold and steady. "You don't deserve to even look at them."
Midoriya and Uraraka froze, a sudden chill running down their spines as they finally realized these students were not ordinary civilians—and that they were ready to declare war before letting anyone take you away. Even Bakugo's sparking palms hesitated as the weight of four Huntresses-in-training, weapons drawn and Aura blazing, filled the room.
