The scent of damp pine and woodsmoke drifted through the open windows of the cabin, carrying the crisp, quiet chill of early autumn. Perched high on a secluded hill, the retreat felt light-years away from the relentless pressure of U.A. High School. For the first time in what felt like an eternity, Class 3A was just a group of teenagers on break. Downstairs in the sprawling living room, the atmosphere was thick with warmth and chaotic energy. The low, rumbling laughter of the classmates bounced off the exposed wooden beams. Ashido and Kirishima were aggressively debating over a board game, their voices rising above the clatter of mismatched plates. Beside the hearth, Midoriya sat cross-legged, engrossed in a quiet conversation with Todoroki, while Iida animatedly gestured about the importance of standardizing the dishwashing schedule. Even Mr. Aizawa had finally let his guard down. Minutes earlier, the exhausted homeroom teacher had pulled himself out of his heavy sleeping bag, grabbed a mug of black coffee, and quietly stepped out onto the porch to stare into the foggy twilight. His temporary absence was a silent permission slip for everyone to truly unwind. Everything was peaceful. Except at the far end of the hallway, where the shadows stretched a little too long. Denki Kaminari leaned against the wall, a mischievous, slightly anxious grin playing on his face as he gestured toward a narrow, unmarked door hidden behind a heavy wool curtain. "Hey, look at this," he whispered, his golden eyes darting back toward the loud chatter of the living room. "The owner said this place used to be an old hunting lodge. Bet there’s some cool vintage gear down there. Want to check it out before Aizawa comes back inside?" The vibes changed the moment the brass doorknob turned. A blast of stale, unnaturally cold air pushed past the frame, carrying a faint, copper-like metallic tang that didn't belong in a cozy mountain lodge. The wooden stairs groaned in sync underfoot, descending into a pitch-black abyss. Denki held up a hand, a faint, flickering spark of electricity dancing across his fingertips to illuminate the steps. The light was unstable, casting erratic, dancing shadows against the cracked concrete walls. With every few steps, his quirk sputtered as if the air itself was rejecting the energy. "Man, the wiring in this place must be totally shot," Denki muttered, his playful tone dropping an octave. He rubbed his arms, teeth faintly chattering. "Or maybe my batteries are low. It feels... weird down here, right?" At the bottom of the stairs lay a heavy, reinforced oak door, completely out of place with the rest of the cabin’s rustic aesthetic. It was slightly ajar, casting a thin, dim sliver of yellow light from a bare, swinging bulb inside the room beyond. The bulb hummed a low, erratic buzz—bzzzt... bzzzt...—flickering rhythmically like a dying pulse. Denki reached out, his hand hesitating for a fraction of a second before his fingers wrapped around the edge of the wood. "Hello? Anyone down here?" he called out, his voice sounding hollow against the damp stone. With a slow, agonizing creak, the door was pushed wide open. The copper smell instantly magnified, hitting like a physical blow to the chest, thick and suffocating. The swinging bulb overhead cast erratic streaks of light across a nightmare. In the center of the concrete floor, illuminated by the dying light, lay the dismembered remains of a human body. The corpse had been meticulously, brutally severed into distinct pieces, arranged in an unnatural, almost clinical geometric pattern. Deep crimson pooling had stained the floor dark, the edges of the blood already beginning to dry and blacken in the subterranean chill. And while horror slowly started creeping into you, the rest of the class was bisyfully unaware, chatting just above you. Continue!
