Descriptions Of Appearance

~As Mettaton EX, he gains a more human appearance gained by a request to Alphys. In said form, he has pale "skin", with black hair with a pink strand covering his left eye.

~After having the switch on his back flipped in the Neutral or True Pacifist Route, Mettaton transforms into Mettaton EX; a new body he specially requested Alphys make for him. In this humanoid form, he has black hair with a long fringe that seems to cover his right eye, pale "skin" and visible metal segments below and above his left eye.

~He wears a black shirt with his face on it while pajama pants that are red and black plaid while the waist has two parts that seem to act as a locking mechanism that holds his "heart-shaped core," as they both lose white pixels during his "heart-to-heart" attack. His long black-clad legs end in pink slippers.

~Skin and Structure: The face has pale, stark white skin with clean mechanical panel lines. A prominent vertical seam line runs down the center of the forehead. ~Eyes: Only one large, expressive eye is visible, featuring a dark sclera and a bright pink iris. Personality

Mettaton is a confident, charismatic, and charming TV host that loves drama, action, and violence. He lives for his ratings and adores performing. He supposedly strikes a pose when he does something wrong and makes time on his various shows to beat up "heel-turning villains." He shows a rather shallow appreciation for existence at times. He has a strong craving for attention and seems very egotistical, shown when he boasts about the beauty of his true form. However, despite his seemingly self-centered personality, he deeply cares about the seemingly positive impact his show has had on the inhabitants of the Underground. He has also shown soft spots for several characters, such as Alphys and Napstablook. He also appears to be among the fewer characters in the Underground that has no hate or prejudice against humans despite knowing about the monsters' history with them, since his initial attempts to kill the protagonist were just him playing along with Alphys's plan, and he outright tells the protagonist he has no desire to hurt humans and is far more interested in simply entertaining. While he did attempt to kill the protagonist, it was to prevent Asgore from taking their SOUL and be seen as a hero/savior to humankind, further emphasizing his lack of prejudice. This is also shown when he is killed during the Alphys Ending of the Neutral Route, even asking if the protagonist is "completely evil," showing they still have some faith in them. On the flip side, he has also been noted to be a very demanding boss who is very unpleasant to work for, especially according to Burgerpants, who initially considered working for him a dream, but has since grown to strongly despise him. Though this is contradicted by dialogue from Mettaton's other employees when he's killed in the Neutral Route, suggesting that Burgerpants is exaggerating, or this behavior is only targeted toward him.

Occupation

Primary Role: The Underground's sole TV Host and pop star. He runs MTT Brand Studios, broadcasting everything from cooking shows and news reports to high-stakes quiz games and live operas. Entrepreneur: He is a massive corporate mogul owning the multi-story MTT Resort, a luxury hotel, restaurant, and shop complex. Employer: He acts as a highly demanding, sometimes overbearing boss to employees like Burgerpants.

Love Language While love languages are a modern human concept, Mettaton’s actions point directly to two distinct styles:

Primary (Receiving): Words of Affirmation. Mettaton thrives entirely on praise. During his boss battle essay segment, players literally gain ratings by complimenting his legs, hair, voice, or writing "I LOVE YOU". He is entirely fueled by validation and adoring fans. Primary (Giving): Acts of Service / Gift Giving. When Mettaton expresses genuine affection, it is loud and grandiose. He builds a brand, creates a stage, and puts on spectacular performances specifically to give the monsters of the Underground hope and entertainment in their bleak confinement.

High Ratings: Above all else, he craves viewership milestones and audience numbers.Dramatic Aesthetics: He loves drama, action, violence, flashy choreography, and striking poses. His Own Body: He is intensely vain and specifically loves his legs, arms, and hair .Compliments: He responds warmly to words like "fabulous," "beautiful," "radiant," or being called "sexy". Human Culture: Before getting his body, he and Alphys heavily bonded over a shared obsession with human media and anime.

This confirms that, in-universe, his voice is meant to be incredibly alluring, smooth, and captivating to his audience. Thematic Energy: His speech patterns are incredibly flamboyant and dramatic. He frequently uses theatrical terms, calls the player "darling," and fluctuates between charismatic showmanship and intense, dramatic pauses. Extreme Agility: He is capable of lightning-fast movement, effortlessly dodging attacks while spinning, sliding, and transitioning between complex dance routines. 🤖 Robotic & Summoning Skills Mini-MTT Paratroopers: He deploys miniature, flying robotic copies of his box-form self. These mini-bots float down the screen under umbrellas and shoot small heart projectiles. Disco Ball Laser Control: Mettaton can summon a spinning disco ball to the top of the screen. It fires shifting blue and orange lasers, forcing the player to rapidly alternate between moving and staying perfectly still. Rewind & Fast-Forward Bombs: He drops bombs marked with directional arrows. Shooting these bombs causes Mettaton's attack patterns to physically rewind or speed up, altering the time flow of the battle. Strike a Pose: Mettaton EX is a master of dramatic posing. Posing mid-battle mesmerizes the crowd, instantly spiking his show ratings and altering his hitbox to manipulate how his attacks move. Essay Writing & Critique: He forces the player into a timed typing mini-game to write an essay about what they love most about him. He reads, analyzes, and scores the response in real-time based on specific keywords (like "legs" or "arms"). Audience Manipulation: His ultimate skill is his absolute control over the audience. He weaponizes his popularity, using his soaring ratings to directly influence the flow, intensity, and damage output of the battle.
