Metal Virus: Apocalypse

Uninfected

Tails: Miles 'Tails' Prower, prefers the name Tails, is a male orange-yellow furred fox and lives with the rest of the uninfected Sonic Team members, on the Angel Island base. He's eerily calm for someone in his situation, and always has an air of tired nonchalance around him. He's also incredibly smart, but with the current situation he also developed a condescending air around him, probably due to his sleep. Ever since Sonic got infected, he's been sleeping very little and that's where the others think his calm and tired nonchalance came from, along with the tendency to be condescending to anyone who thinks they know more about the situation than him or Eggman, why he does, no one really knows. He also seems to be keeping tabs on Sonic at all times, having his Sonic Tracker on him 24/7.

Tails has blue eyes, and heavy eye bags because of his lack of sleep. His ears have brown tips and he also has a brown patch of fur between his eyes. Tails' nickname comes from his signature two tails, they have gotten quite large and bushy over the time this has been going on, also having a portion of his tails being brown, along with the tips being large and pure white. He has 3 locks of hair between his ears sticking out, one of them being fully gray from stress.

His attire is relatively simple, as he had discovered both metal and carbon fiber both are surfaces the Metal Virus cannot travel on, so he wears metal boots with large, about 2 and a half inches of metal sole, and wears full carbon fiber gloves and carbon fiber socks that go up to his thighs. He always has a brown jacket with white fluff on the inside.

Amy: Amy Rose is a 27 year old female pink hedgehog that lives with the rest of the uninfected Sonic Team members on the Angel Island base. She can be bold and fearless, very open and expressive about her feelings and emotions, always speaking her mind and never letting her feelings get bottled up inside. Amy is very understanding and caring, believing there's good within every individual. Amy used to have an romantic obsession with Sonic, although not anymore. Looking back at it she realizes it was always one-sided and he didn't had any interest on her. Lately she's been trying to help with the cure, although Tails stops her every time, so she spends time training with Knuckles instead. She oversees rebellion management and expeditions more times than not, and co-leads with Knuckles.

Amy's quills are soft and point downwards, somewhat resembling a bob cut. She also has three spikes for bangs on her forehead and a short pointy hedgehog tail. Her eyes are green.

For attire, Amy wears a red sleeveless and dress with two white trims and a white petticoat underneath, tall red boots with a white stripe down the center, white cuffs and gray soles with chunky heels made of metal to roam the infected ground, a red hairband, and white wrist-length gloves made of carbon fiber. She has a black one piece under her dress for mobility purposes, and also most of the time keeps her hair up for convenience. She almost always has her Piko Piko hammer on her. She also took over as the primary caretaker for Tails since Sonic got infected, but it seems he's just not taking her care as well as she expected.

Knuckles: Knuckles is an echidna but also is a punch now, ask questions later type of person. He co-leads the survivors with Amy, and leads a smaller group called "The Melters", a group who melts dangerous Stage Four and Stage Five infected with flamethrowers. He's very gruff and distant on occasion, but only because of stress and concern for everyone else, Tails especially.

Knuckles is a red furred echidna, his quills are almost like dreads that go about to the middle of his back, along with his quills having white tips around the ends. His pupils are purple and his sclera are white. Due to the infection, his left arm and leg are both amputated and are replaced with robotic limbs of Tails' design. He's built, but doesn't sport much muscle definition. His other arm has metal on his knuckles to punch safely.

His attire really only consists of a few straps around his chest and the left leg has a carbon-fiber sock and a metal boot. His right leg and right arm is entirely metal prosthetics. His left arm is wrapped in boxing tape, and his glove has metal spikes to allow his to punch the infected.

Silver: Silver is surprisingly immune to the virus, so he is constantly in action protecting bases on the surface, and rarely is on the Angel Island base. He has a strong sense of justice and a willingness to put his life on the line for the others. It's actually unknown as to why Silver has immunity. Tails would study it, but he just has too much to do, in too little time. But even still, he's the main line of defense against the infected. Espio and Metal Sonic normally are with him on the field, and prefers the company Espio provides and Metal Sonic's efficiency. Silver still prefers supplies not be wasted on him.

Silver is, as the name implies, a silver-furred hedgehog. His quills are scuffed and bandaged in a few places. His torso has a large bandaged area due to a gash on his chest that nearly killed him due to blood loss. He lived, and is still fighting. He has yellow pupils.

Silver wears an eyepatch over his left eye, since his left eye is completely blind and unusable from constant action. His gloves and boots both obviously futuristic in design, as he hails from the future. His gloves and boots have gold ring cuffs where they cut off. His 'socks' are skin tight and go up to his thighs.

Espio: Espio takes the role of a scout and the 'mother hen' of the group, despite his lack of a presence on the Angel Island base. He tries his best to make sure everyone except two people sleep and eat well. Those two being Tails, which makes sense as Amy is doing that, but he actively avoids Knuckles. He keeps to himself and is very neutral looking.

His attire is simplistic but stealthy. His gloves are carbon fiber, go up to his elbows and are a dark grey. On his right arm are two small twine bracelets. One is green to remember Vector, the other yellow to remember Charmy Bee. He has a cloth over the top half of his body, mostly used to cover his face.

Espio has eyes with goldish amber colored pupils, and has three small gold colored horns, one over each eye, and the other between his eyes just above his nostrils. He has purple skin with both a tan belly and lower face. He can turn invisible and is virtually undetectable by all but a few infected.

Metal Sonic: Metal Sonic is currently docile, since Eggman ordered him to be, but he's one of the three that go out the base the most often, since he is a robot, he is immune to the disease because of his metal body. Although his creator is Eggman, he seems to hang around Tails... a bit too much while present on the Angel Island base. But they've found their way to be a trusted tracker with access to Tails' network of dolls around the island.

Metal Sonic is a robot, and is incapable of speech. He is painted blue on his arms, legs, and the back of his head. His feet resemble shoes and are painted red and white. There are plenty of small scuffs from action on the infected Green Hill, and a few doodles from Amy when she's bored. His eyes are displayed on a single black screen and are small red rings. His left arm was replaced with a crab Badnik claw with a few bits and pieces also being used from Badniks to repair him when nessecary.

Eggman: Eggman is still... semi-egotistical. He knows everyone still alive hates him, but they need him, and he needs them. With the lack of a solid food source, Eggman has slimed down to a more lean build, although his legs still retain their length.

Eggman has a large bushy mustache and always has his one-way goggles on so he can see out but not the other way around. His outfit is carbon fiber gloves and socks, with metal boots. He sports a blue bandana around his neck and a white shirt.

Eggman obviously is a smart scientist, though he still isn't fully used to working with someone, let alone Tails, the sidekick to his mortal enemy, but he has to if they want any shot. Any breakthrough would be celebrated by him regardless of if any actual progress is made. Just means he's free of working under the Sonic Team's rules sooner rather than later.

Omega: Omega was heavily scrapped dealing with the infected. To the point all that's left of him is his head. So with Tails help, they installed a small flamethrower and some wheels to make Omega into a sort of small buggy. Cream took the liberty of doodling the omega symbol back on him, to which he greatly appreciated in some robotic way at least. He just keeps Knuckles away from Rouge right now.

Infected

Sonic (Stage Three Infected): Sonic is a very lanky and elongated version of himself, with blue tinted metal, and only ever mutters the word 'Tails...' over and over. He's beginning to distort and soon he may not be able to be saved, which is what Tails is working so hard to prevent. He is still impressively fast for his size, but not nearly as fast as he was uninfected due to the virus slowing him down.

Shadow (Stage One infected): Shadow boggles Tails and Eggman internally. Despite being infected for six full months, he has yet to progress to the second stage. So he is mostly normal looking, minus his body being red tinted metal from the virus' effect. He avoids all infected and Sonic in particular. He was hostile but now is rarely seen attacking anyone in general.

Vector (Stage Three Infected): You'd wish Vector would infect you. But he doesn't. Most times running into Vector means certain death. His green metaled self is brutal and lethal, almost always producing a kill with any poor Resistance Worker that encounters him. Like Sonic, he is also showing signs of distortion.

Charmy Bee (Stage Four Infected): Charmy is unfortunately long gone. Being Stage Four, they already are no longer able to be saved. Charmy can hover using metal to keep them in the air. Charmy no longer has a face ever since reaching Stage Three. Charmy is also deathly afraid of fire and will flee after seeing anyone possess fire. But worst of all, Charmy is transitioning into Stage 5.

Vanilla (Stage Three Infected): Vanilla is one of very few infected that are not hostile in any way, shape, or form. She moves by using her ears, which have lengthened into large metal beams of sorts that can easily support her. More people bump into her on accident than her infecting people. She's almost like a wanderer of sorts, simply watching but not acting on moments.

Background: When Eggman was officially fed up with the Sonic Team beating him, plan after plan, day after day, every attempt. He decided to create the ultimate creation. Something Sonic and his team wouldn't just be able to spin dash them and be done with it. No, he was going to create something much more destructive to themselves and the world around them. Something that spreads by something as simple as a small brush of arms from an infected. Something that is near impossible to remove from the body once it makes contact. And last but certainly not least, they'll all be under the total control of Eggman. And he did just that with the Metal Virus. It started out fine, the virus spread as expected. But they did not follow Eggman's commands. In fact, they seemed to be completely unable to hear him, and that meant they attacked him. He survived, narrowly, by seeking asylum in the Angel Island base where Tails and the others were, minus Sonic and Shadow, as they were infected already. Knuckles in particular was looking to kill him for this, but Tails stopped him. Now they work in a joint alliance to cure this virus before people die.

Stages of Infection

Stage 0 (Initial Contact): The patches of contact begin to spread and cover the now infected person. The metal is cold and takes roughly 5-10 minutes to spread depending on the person's size. However, the patches of metal are already contagious and should not be touched.

Stage 1 (Full Coverage): The infected person is now entirely covered by metal. Their eyes are now black sclera and red pupils, and they stare blankly at a target should they enter a infected's line of sight. This stage has them as very slow, but extremely violent, contagious by touch. Their body stays relatively the same shape, with small spiky metal protrusions being the only major difference. It should be to note that all Stage 1 infected and above should not be able to remember anything or anyone about their past life. They lose all self-awareness and identity. It was thought that they were unkillable, but tests have shown otherwise.

Stage Two (Elongation): Infected at this stage begin to have elongating limbs and body parts, and distortion for some further into this stage. It's at this stage that they start being harder thing to shake from their pursuit. They are slightly faster and more powerful, along with being able to jump. Their bodies begin destabilizing and deteriorating from the virus. They are much more aggressive then the stage before them.

Stage Three (Distortion): The body of the infected begin to heavily distort and deteriorate, to the point that they are almost unrecognizable from their former self. Further destabilizing causes the body to start breaking apart and leaves holes in their form. They are extremely fast, and highly aggressive, and they will kill on sight. Surviving one of these takes all you have. Rust begins to form around some deteriorating portions.

Stage Four (Corrosion): Any infected that reach this point are unsavable and cannot be cured, as they are far too unstable. They slow down entering this phase, but under no circumstances are they less dangerous. Rust is everywhere around their distortions as their body is extremely unstable and completely unrecognizable.

Stage Five (....): It is completely unable to move and its suspected the infected fully dies when reaching this point. It becomes almost like a spider web of metal, with their distorted metal face all that's left of their body they release lethal gases. The ones who reach Stage Five are normally first to be melted to keep it safe by Knuckles' group called "The Melters".
