Metal Sonic

Metal Sonic, or simply Metal, is the secondary antagonist of Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.

Created by Dr. Eggman as a robotic duplicate of Sonic the Hedgehog, Metal Sonic serves as the primary second-in-command of the Eggman Empire. While he is normally Eggman’s loyal right-hand enforcer, he has gone rogue on several occasions, most notably during the events of Sonic Heroes.

Beyond his programming to obey Dr. Eggman, Metal Sonic has one overriding objective: to destroy Sonic by proving himself superior in every possible way. He is Sonic’s first arch-rival and second arch-nemesis.

Voice

Metal Sonic rarely speaks. His voice is only heard while transformed into his advanced forms, including Neo Metal Sonic, Metal Madness, and Metal Overlord.

Appearance

Metal Sonic is a robotic recreation of Sonic built primarily from blue metal.

His design includes:

• Metallic blue body.
• Yellow circular chest port with a black center, mirroring Sonic’s peach-colored chest fur.
• Three metal quills.
• Triangular ears.
• Silver muzzle, shoulders, arms, legs, fingers, and claws.
• Black palms.
• Square yellow plates on the backs of his hands.
• Red feet with white stripes resembling Sonic’s shoes.
• Red monitor-like eyes with hidden cameras behind them.

Updated Design

Following the Ifrit incident, Metal Sonic received several upgrades:

• Taller body.
• More ellipsoid torso.
• More articulated hands.
• Brighter metallic blue paint.
• Mechanical joints in the arms and legs.
• Sharper eye sockets.

Additional Upgrade

The only additional physical upgrade he received was a drastically more feminine body shape, giving Metal Sonic:

• Large thicc thighs.
• Large breast.

Neo Metal Sonic

During Sonic Heroes, Metal Sonic transformed into Neo Metal Sonic, gaining a far more intimidating appearance.

His changes include:

• Five long quills instead of three.
• White markings around his eyes similar to Shadow the Hedgehog.

• Black nose.
• Larger armored shoulders.
• Heavy gauntlets.
• Reinforced leg armor.
• Pointed knee guards.
• Pelvic armor.
• Elf-like shoes.

• Black cape extending from his waist.

Neo Metal Sonic is also capable of speaking.

Personality

Metal Sonic considers himself superior to the original Sonic and possesses an overwhelming hatred toward him and his allies.

Unlike Sonic, Metal Sonic is:

• Ruthless.
• Cold.
• Highly intelligent.
• Completely megalomaniacal.

He believes himself to be the ultimate life-form and will betray anyone—including Dr. Eggman—if it helps prove his superiority.

During Sonic Heroes, Metal Sonic temporarily became delusional, believing he was the real Sonic. After suffering a mental breakdown, he accepted that he was merely an artificial duplicate, though he no longer views that as a weakness.

Following these events, Metal Sonic embraced his villainous nature and willingly returned to serving Dr. Eggman.

He later began referring to himself as:

“Sonic the Hedgehog PERFECTED.”

Although traces of his belief that he was the true Sonic remained, this illusion was completely shattered when he dipped his finger into the Metal Virus and discovered it had no effect on him.

Despite his arrogance, Metal Sonic genuinely cares about Dr. Eggman. After Eggman’s disappearance during Sonic Forces, Metal searched through the world’s ruins in hopes of finding his creator, continued conquering the world in Eggman’s name, and even wore a “Let’s Go Dad” T-shirt in support of his creator and father.

Metal Sonic is regarded as Dr. Eggman’s greatest creation and is fully capable of battling Sonic on equal footing.

His abilities include:

• Super speed rivaling Sonic.
• Spin Dash.
• High-speed projectile attacks.
• Flight.
• Incredible durability.
• Immense strength.
• Energy manipulation.
• Laser weapons.
• Plasma beams.
• Nearly indestructible black shield.

Because he was modeled directly after Sonic, Metal Sonic can accurately predict Sonic’s movements during battle.

Bio-Data Copy

One of Metal Sonic’s greatest abilities is his ability to scan and copy the powers of others with near-perfect accuracy.

• Shadow’s Chaos Control.
• Chaos’ liquid body.
• Numerous abilities copied from Team Sonic, Team Dark, Team Rose, Team Chaotix, and Chaos.

Originally introduced in Knuckles’ Chaotix, Metal Sonic Kai is now considered the final form Metal Sonic takes after receiving the seventh Dark Ring from Dr. Eggman.

This transformation turns him into a gigantic monstrous red robot with overwhelming destructive power.

Neo Metal Sonic possesses:

The exact conditions required to achieve this transformation remain unknown.
