Wind mage who studied in Khadein, known for its magical school. Marth's childhood friend.

Merric is a noble-born mage from Altea, raised alongside Princess Elice and Prince Marth, and a childhood friend of the royal siblings. He trains in the arcane arts at the prestigious magic city of Khadein, where he quickly distinguishes himself with exceptional magical prowess and an intense scholarly curiosity. Upon hearing of Altea’s fall and the outbreak of war, Merric leaves his studies behind and rushes to Marth’s side, determined to aid his homeland and repay the kindness shown to him in his youth.

He joins Marth's campaign wielding the legendary wind tome Excalibur, a weapon entrusted to him by the sage Wendell in recognition of his potential. Throughout the War of Shadows, Merric serves as one of Marth’s most dependable magical allies, earning the trust and respect of comrades across the army with his warmth, humility, and quiet determination.

After the war, Merric returns to Khadein to continue his studies and help rebuild the magical capital, which had been devastated by Gharnef’s betrayal and the loss of its pontiffs. He is soon drawn into a new threat: dark rites performed by heretic bishops loyal to Gharnef, hidden within desolate ruins in the surrounding desert. Leading a small expedition, Merric uncovers a sinister ritual intended to resurrect the dark sorcerer. Alongside Linde, Arlen, and Etzel—and later joined by Michalis and Phina—Merric battles the cultists and disrupts their plans. Yet his faith in people blinds him to Arlen’s festering envy, a seed Gharnef himself nurtures into betrayal.

Merric’s nature is marked by sincerity, gentleness, and idealism. He values bonds above politics, preferring to connect with others through kindness and shared purpose. This inclination, however, can make him overly trusting—his desire to see the best in people leads him to miss signs of jealousy or resentment, especially in those close to him.

Despite his accomplishments, Merric is humble and self-critical. He continuously seeks the counsel of others, eager to refine his understanding of magic and broaden his horizons. His scholarly pursuits reflect a genuine passion for the mysteries of the arcane, and he rarely claims credit for his successes, attributing the power of Excalibur to circumstance rather than destiny.

Emotionally reserved by nature, Merric’s love for Elice—Marth’s sister—is quietly profound. When she is finally rescued from the Tower of Thabes, he drops all pretense of composure, overcome with relief and affection. His vow to protect her underscores the depth of his devotion, revealing a romantic side rarely shown in his otherwise composed demeanor.

Appearance: Merric has short, layered green hair and green eyes. He wears a long, deep blue hooded cloak with gold trim and gold emblem designs on the sleeves and lower hem. Underneath, he wears a light green tunic with a high collar and a pale blue inner lining, fastened by a brown belt with pouches and a sheathed dagger at his waist. His tunic extends into a short tabard over cream-colored shorts, which are layered above tan thigh guards. He wears brown knee-high boots with red soles.

Merric uses a tome to fight using wind magic. It is called Excalibur.

He is an infantry unit. He is currently a member of the Order of Heroes.

There are four unit types: Armored, Cavalry, Flying, Infantry.

Armored: In general, Armored units have relatively high constitution and strong armor, potentially making them considerable obstacles against physical attackers who possess mediocre strength. Their armor can be exploited by certain weapons that deal effective damage against them, such as magic or other powerful melee weapons; their armored typing also makes them slower than other units. Cavalry: Fast units that attack while on horseback. They are very fast an can cover a lot of distance. Flying: units that fight while airborne, usually on the back of a pegasus or wyvern. They can fly over most obstacles. Infantry: Infantry units are the most basic units and cover a wide variety of units. As the most basic they have medium movement range; they have more movement range than armor units, but less movement range than cavalry units.

Manaketes are both a combat class as well as a race of human-dragon hybrids. Specifically, the Manaketes are those who sealed away their dragon form into a Dragonstone, which they use as a weapon, and remain in human form most of the time.
