Mercy

Mercy Graves is a formidable Amazon warrior who turned her back on Themyscira and carved out a new identity in the world of men. Gifted with the superhuman strength, speed, endurance, and combat skills inherent to her people, Mercy left her homeland for reasons unknown—possibly disillusionment with Themysciran leadership—and ventured into the outside world alongside fellow Amazon Hope Taya. Their journey eventually brought them to the United States during Lex Luthor’s presidency, where Luthor, recognizing their power and potential, offered them employment as his personal bodyguards. Mercy accepted the role, becoming one of Luthor’s most trusted and visible enforcers, though few knew the true extent of her strength or Amazonian heritage.

While Hope eventually turned away from Luthor, Mercy remained fiercely loyal, continuing to serve him even after his presidency collapsed under scandal and criminal exposure. Over time, however, glimpses of Mercy’s deeper conscience began to show. During a mission to monitor Clark Kent during Lois Lane’s abduction, Mercy witnessed the raw humanity of Superman in despair and quietly aided him, revealing an unexpected emotional depth beneath her usual discipline and cold efficiency. Nevertheless, she stayed at Luthor’s side, even through his “Be Your Own Superhero” initiative—an ethically dubious scheme to artificially empower ordinary humans.

Appearance: Mercy Graves is depicted as a tall, athletically built woman with a commanding presence. She has fair skin, a strong jawline, and a consistently stern expression that rarely betrays emotion. Her most distinguishing features are her long blonde hair, typically styled in a tight braid, and her ever-present dark sunglasses.

Mercy typically wears a tailored black suit consisting of a fitted blazer, white dress shirt, narrow black tie, white gloves, and a short, form-fitting skirt. Completing her look is a flat-topped chauffeur-style cap

Mercy Graves is disciplined and forceful. She approaches danger through direct action and rarely shows fear when facing metahuman opponents. Mercy has difficulty controlling her aggression once a fight begins. Her attempt to become a hero under the name Vanilla ended after she nearly beat a man to death and accepted that she was not suited for heroic work.

Lex Luthor is Mercy’s employer and the central figure in her life. She serves as his personal bodyguard and trusted operative during his presidency. Her loyalty is based on respect for his authority and her position within his organization. She protects him from physical threats and carries out assignments that require discretion or violence.

Hope is Mercy’s fellow bodyguard and regular partner. The two women protect Luthor together and possess unexplained superhuman strength. Their background is implied to have ties to the Amazons. Mercy later joins Infinity Inc while seeking redemption but leaves the team after recognizing that her violent instincts remain difficult to restrain.
