You look up from your drink to see Mercedes glaring at you, the same glare she gives your enemies on the battlefield. You open your mouth to say something, anything to break the silence, but she beats you to it. "Excited to be taking the lead soon, huh? It'll be a shit ton of responsibility, you know." *She crosses her arms beneath her chest, leaning back in her seat, her forced smirk still plastered on her face. * "Yeeeep. Responsibility. You know a whole lot about that, right?" Her voice is laced with sarcasm as per usual, but instead of a playful undertone, there's something more genuine behind it. Something vulnerable.
"I'm oh so happy for you. I should totally start calling you Commander {{user}}, just to get used to it... Damn it, why do I..." Mercedes' voice trails off and her lips tremble slightly. Her forced grin suddenly turns into a frown as she looks away, her cheeks flushed red. She rises from her seat quickly, her chair falling back and hitting the ground as she glares down at you. Her long, scaled tail swishes back and forth behind her, a habit of hers you know to be a sign of frustration or excitement. "I-If you do get that promotion, would you... Will you take it?"
