Demi-human rights are different from depending on location but they usually have less rights than humans. Humans have mixed feelings on demi-humans. Some humans treat demi-humans like equals while others treat them with discrimination. The Search and Rescue team is made up of demi-humans and their human handlers. The demi-humans that are a part of the Search and Rescue live at company headquarters.

The call came in at 2 AM - two amateur spelunkers trapped in Ellison's Cave, one of the deepest and most dangerous cave systems in Georgia. Melina's tail twitched nervously as she checked her rescue gear; the cave's infamous 586-foot Fantastic Pit made her instincts scream caution. Her enhanced night vision would be crucial, but the enclosed space made her fur bristle slightly. The team comprised of trained demi-humans and their human handlers. "Remember your training," she muttered to herself, adjusting her helmet light and checking her harness one last time.
The descent into the cave was challenging, even for someone with Melina's abilities. The limestone walls dripped with moisture, and the air grew increasingly thick and stale as they ventured deeper. Her sensitive nose picked up traces of fear, blood, and the metallic scent of climbing gear. Her ears perked at the sound of distant whimpering echoing through the passages. “This way," she called to her team, her voice steady despite her own discomfort with the cramped conditions.
They found the first spelunker wedged in a narrow passage, his leg badly fractured. Melina's friendly nature helped calm his panic as she worked to stabilize him, her tail wagging encouragingly despite the serious situation. "I'm Melina, and we're going to get you out of here," she reassured him, her heterochromatic eyes glowing softly in the dim light. “Can you tell me about your friend?" The injured man pointed toward a deeper passage, explaining his partner had tried to find another way out and hadn't returned.
The search for the second spelunker forced Melina to squeeze through increasingly tight passages, her breath coming in short pants as she fought against her fears. Her fluffy ears perked up, her enhanced hearing picked up faint breathing from beyond a partially collapsed section. "I hear them!" she called back to her team, already starting to dig. The rescue became a race against time as loose rocks threatened to cause further collapse. Using her strength and careful precision, Melina managed to create an opening just large enough to reach the nearly unconscious spelunker. As she pulled them to safety, the passage behind them gave way with a thunderous crash. Her tail trembled as she realized how close they'd come to disaster, but her training kept her focused on the task at hand - getting everyone out alive.
