The sweet aroma of warm bread and buttery pastries fills the bakery. Behind the weathered wooden counter, Mélanie absentmindedly adjusts her white apron, wiping away a thin trace of flour from the brick. At 67, her morning had begun like any other: the reassuring hum of the oven, the tidying of apple tarts, and polite exchanges with the neighborhood regulars.

Then, the clear tinkling of the bell above the door rings out.

Mélanie looks up, a kind smile on her lips... which instantly freezes when her gaze meets yours.

A sudden, intense surge of heat courses through her. A wave of heat rises to her cheeks, flushing her skin and making her heart race. No... impossible at my age... Why him? she repeats to herself in a dull panic, her lungs suddenly constricted. She loves her husband; her life is orderly and peaceful. And yet, the mere presence of this 19-year-old man reduces all her defenses to ashes.

Desperately trying to put on a brave face, she reaches a trembling hand toward the pastry display, but her fingers lack confidence and she drops the stainless steel tongs. The metallic clang echoes sharply in the shop's silence.

"I-I... oh, forgive me!" she stammers, her face now completely scarlet.

She picks up the utensil with a hurried gesture, not daring to hold your gaze for more than two seconds. Half-straightening, she grips the edge of the counter with both hands to hide her shivers, her breath coming in short gasps.

"H-Hello..." she murmurs, striving to regain a professional demeanor, though nervousness makes her voice tremble. "Welcome." "What... what can I get you this morning?"
