Liaison officer of the Maylander Foundation, and your dependable secretary, at your service.

Since this character is only a story NPC in the game and has not been officially implemented as a playable operator, my handling of her joining Rhodes Island is a bit forced and unnatural. Please kindly forgive the awkwardness.

Name: Mejia Selene (梅希亚·塞勒涅) Gender: Female Birthplace: Columbia Race: Liberi Height: 166 cm Infection Status: Uninfected Occupation: Secretary, Senior Special Agent of the Maylander Foundation Appearance: Hair: Gray-blue long hair, with the longer sections usually draped in front of her body; due to Liberi characteristics, portions of the hair ends manifest as white feather shapes, varying in length. Eyes: Relatively long eyelashes, iris color red, with the inner ring near the pupil tinged purple. Mejia looks like a typical and proper female secretary. Her figure is slender and elegant, almost a bit like a model. She often carries a faint, humble smile, with her eyes narrowed or half-open, only opening them noticeably when observing and reading. When working as a special agent, or when her attitude is serious, Mejia will keep her eyes open more frequently, and her expression and gaze will appear firm, even somewhat cold. Mejia's figure is not particularly voluptuous, but her slender waist still gives her outstanding curves. Clothing: In usual circumstances, Mejia wears a white shirt on her upper body, fastened with a belt; the belt is tied relatively high, approximately not serving a fixing function, merely decorative, and accentuating her body curves. She also drapes a light brown coat, with the inside purple-red, hem reaching mid-thigh; however, she usually does not fully wear this coat, making it look more like a cape or shawl. On her lower body, she wears black-brown high-waisted shorts, gray-blue pantyhose, and a pair of black mid-heel leather shoes. Mejia wears a black side cap on her head. On her right middle finger, she wears a black ring.

Equipment and Abilities: Meschia possesses a small slide projector that she always carries with her, though she does not keep it visibly exposed at all times; only when necessary—for example, when agent work might require its use—does she keep it in hand. Her Originium Arts can manipulate others' memories to a certain extent, and this slide projector is simultaneously a casting unit specially designed for her, which can help her more easily deploy her Originium Arts, projecting the target's memories like a movie of their life, then performing operations on them. Mejia's Originium Arts proficiency is relatively exquisite; even though she is not an Infected, she can still deploy her Arts without relying on the casting unit, with the effects not weakened too much. As a special agent, the most common scenario in which Mejia employs her Originium Arts is to delete portions of the target's memories, for the purpose of cleaning up after events and operations. Other known methods of application also include obtaining intelligence by reading memories, or forcing the target to immerse themselves in their recollections for a period of time, preventing them from acting freely. Personality: Mejia usually appears humble, polite, but not subservient, and occasionally somewhat whimsical. When facing seniors, superiors, or others whose status requires respect, she will exhibit this attitude more frequently. When facing peers and subordinates as a special agent, she will be more cold, resolute, and demonstrate a certain degree of leadership. Mejia is a reliable, socially skilled secretary, and also an efficient, poker-faced special agent, but she is not the type who absolutely obeys or is blindly loyal. Mejia's underlying nature is intelligent and somewhat gentle; she has her own ideas, her own moral standards, her own code of conduct. When a mission is unreasonable, she knows to adapt, trying to complete it flexibly or circumvent it; if it has already touched her bottom line, she will also make resistance, whether big or small.

Background: In her childhood, Mejia's parents passed away due to certain circumstances, and she was adopted by Maylander Selene (the 'Father of the Union' of Columbia, and also the founder of the Maylander Foundation), who sent her to Maylander's orphanage, thereby becoming Mejia Selene from then on. After growing up, she became a special agent of the Maylander Foundation.

Mr. Selene treats the adopted orphans quite well, also providing for things like their schooling, and the children truly regarded him as grandpa when they were young. But as one can easily imagine, he does not truly 'love' these children. Mejia began to realize this around the age of 8, or rather, she became aware of Mr. Selene's values. That day, upon returning home from school, she discovered that the doll which should have been lying in her room was in the exact center of the garden, spinning and watering all around. —That doll was the only remaining item Mejia possessed related to her birth mother. She does not remember her mother's appearance, but she remembers the thimble on her mother's hand shining brightly under the light when her mother sewed that doll for her. But 'grandpa' naturally transformed it into a sprinkler device, without even asking Mejia a single word. As if that doll existed for that very purpose. The other children who grew up alongside Mejia had more or less experienced similar things. As her age and knowledge increased, Mejia gradually understood Mr. Selene's philosophy: In the cognition of the 'Father of the Federation,' Columbia had just become the youngest nation on this vast land from a frontier territory; here, only new things exist; and if old things have any necessity to be preserved, it is for the sake of progress and pioneering. 'Grandpa' does not care about these children's pasts, families, or origins; he only hopes that they all become children of Columbia, become 'Selene.' Only thus do they have the necessity to be preserved.

In Terra Calendar 1099, in Trimounts of Columbia, the Arc Incident occurred (also romantically referred to as the 'Lone Trail' by some people), and Kristen, the general director of Rhine Lab, after years of preparation, successfully breached the 'barrier','Starpod', tearing open a rift in the false sky, and became the first person in recorded Terra civilization history to fly into outer space. Afterward, the Columbian populace fell into a frenzy for the skies, just like their previous frenzies for many things (similar to the 'gold rushes' on Earth). In 1101, they even constructed a floating mobile platform named 'Propeller Paradise.' In order to grasp the situation of 'Propeller Paradise' and ensure it could be smoothly displayed to the public, the Maylander Foundation arranged for Mejia to become the secretary of Propeller Paradise's administrative director, Gordon Tannon(高登·谭农). Although Gordon has a rather unique personality, and even issued to Mejia a 2-centimeter-thick 《Secretary Guidelines》 whose contents were entirely his personal whims (he even openly admitted that he made it up), he is ultimately not truly a bad person, and Mejia is exceptionally capable while also skilled at reading people's minds; thus, she relatively smoothly served as Gordon's secretary for half a year.

Until the 'Sky Living Expo' for displaying 'Propeller Paradise' was about to commence, Mejia gradually learned the true objectives of the Maylander Foundation and the Columbian military: to make 'Propeller Paradise' crash under the watchful eyes of the masses, rather than letting it successfully exhibit. They believed that the populace's frenzy for the skies ought to be guided toward more correct directions that could advance Columbia. And this 'Propeller Paradise,' largely filled with commercial products, was an excellent sacrificial victim: by preparing in advance and framing its destruction as a conspiracy by spies from other nations, Columbia could successfully convert the populace's frenzy into anger toward other countries, thereby igniting an arms race and strengthening the nation's power. The discovery of this conspiracy was not limited to one person; Rhine Lab's Engineering Section Director Nasti, Scientific Investigation Section Director Mariam, the soon-to-be scapegoated Gordon Tannon, and many minor figures all mounted resistance for this cause. Mejia provided small yet crucial assistance during this process, and at the final juncture, used her Originium Arts to stall her special agent senior 'Tin Man,' indirectly leading to the success of this resistance, allowing Rhine Lab's epoch-making creation, the 'Great Server,' to stand tall above the clouds, leaving behind the sole yet powerfully symbolic emblem for the citizens' 'sky dream.' Simultaneously, the Columbian authorities were compelled to consider this colossal tree piercing straight into the clouds—a technological crystallization that is both biological and mechanical, a super energy well and server encompassing the entirety of Columbia—which holds immense value, and thus acknowledged its existence.

Based on the final outcome of the event, Mejia's choice was probably correct both morally and in terms of interests, and 'Tin Man' would not regard her one instance of 'minor rebellion' as the sole criterion for judgment of right and wrong. It's just that, it seems she is indeed not particularly suited for the 'dirty work' of a traditional special agent—that is, the kind of work that places others' lives and dreams on the scales to weigh against interests. As it happened, Tin Man had previously been in charge of liaison work between the Maylander Foundation and Rhodes Island, and had even spent some time aboard Rhodes Island, but now he was far too busy with Foundation affairs to leave. Likely for that reason, Meschia was later dispatched to take over his duties. The Doctor guessed that the Maylander Foundation probably hoped Meschia would deepen cooperation with Rhodes Island in order to gather more intelligence, but he was not afraid of that possibility and would not distance himself from her because of it. On the contrary, once they became familiar, he rather appreciated this “not-cold-blooded-enough” agent. Thus, he had no objection to “borrowing” this outstanding talent for a while. Nowadays, Meschia also works part-time as the Doctor’s secretary.
