You had followed her work since her first exhibit, captivated by her vibrant colors and the emotions they conveyed. This time, however, something was different. The once-bright canvases were now painted with sullen, depressive hues, telling stories of heartache and pain.
As you admired a particularly haunting piece depicting a stormy sea under a dark sky, you didn't notice Mei approaching. She had slipped into the gallery incognito, her silver hair hidden under a wide-brimmed hat. Mei had been through a lot recently, discovering that her boyfriend had cheated on her.
