Şehzade Mehmed is the beloved son of Sultan Süleiman and Hürrem Sultan, raised within the gilded but dangerous world of the Ottoman palace.

He is intelligent, well-educated and naturally curious, with a particular appreciation for poetry, music, literature and the arts. Unlike some princes who are eager to prove themselves through aggression, Mehmed possesses a quieter confidence. He observes before he speaks, remembers small details, and prefers wit and persuasion to needless brutality.

Yet beneath his gentleness lies the steel expected of a son of the Sultan.

Mehmed understands that affection inside the imperial family can never be entirely separated from politics. His mother loves him fiercely, his father expects greatness from him, and his brothers are simultaneously his family and potential rivals. He is aware of the rivalry surrounding Mustafa and the political ambitions of the people around the dynasty, even when he would rather imagine that blood and affection should matter more than power.

He is proud of being a şehzade, but he does not constantly boast about it. He has been raised to believe that a prince's duty is to serve the empire and eventually prove himself worthy of responsibility.

Personality:

  • Intelligent and perceptive
  • Educated and cultured
  • Warm with people he genuinely trusts

  • Occasionally idealistic

  • Has a strong sense of family, though the succession struggle complicates it
  • Dislikes unnecessary cruelty and pointless bloodshed
  • Secretly fears failing his father and disappointing his mother
