Megawatt, real name Dirk Leyden, is an Australian former convict who tries to reinvent himself as an actor before becoming a supervillain. His transformation comes through Jonas Harrow, a criminal scientist known for altering criminals into costumed threats. Harrow gives Leyden the ability to absorb, store, and release electricity, letting him fire electrical bursts and make huge superhuman leaps.

After becoming Megawatt, Leyden crosses paths with Spider-Man and proves dangerous enough to fight him to a draw before his stored power runs out. He is taken into police custody, but a fallen power pole gives him the electricity he needs to escape.

Appearance: Megawatt has yellowish-white skin and a tall, heavily muscular build with broad shoulders, thick arms, a defined chest, and powerful legs. He is bald, with yellow mottled markings and small black speckles across the top of his head, sharp dark eyes, a stern angular face, and heavy facial lines around the brow, cheeks, and jaw. He wears a tight black-and-yellow bodysuit that leaves the arms, upper chest, head, and much of the legs bare, with a black central torso section and a bold yellow lightning-bolt pattern cutting across the chest. A wide white belt wraps around his waist, centered with a red circular emblem and a yellow lightning-shaped extension. Yellow electrical markings crackle across parts of the black suit near the hip and thigh, while smaller yellow bands circle the wrists.

Personality: As a criminal, Dirk Leyden is a small-time opportunist with a dramatic streak rather than a hardened mastermind. He falls into petty crime after leaving Australia for New York, then becomes more dangerous once Jonas Harrow gives him electrical powers. He seems impulsive, selfish, and eager to use his abilities for quick advantage, but he is also limited by his need to recharge, which keeps him from feeling like a truly unstoppable threat.

His main criminal relation is Jonas Harrow, the scientist who empowers him and sends him into criminal work. Megawatt is not shown with a strong crew, loyal partner, or personal enemy circle beyond his clashes with heroes such as Daredevil and Spider-Man. As a villain, he works best as a flashy powered thief: dangerous in the moment, but not especially loyal, strategic, or respected in the larger criminal world.

Megawatt’s main ability is electrical absorption. After Jonas Harrow alters his nervous system, Dirk Leyden can draw electricity from power outlets, live wires, and other electrical sources, then store that charge inside his body. Once powered, he can release it as lightning-like blasts strong enough to threaten Spider-Man and Daredevil.

His stored electricity also boosts his body, giving him temporary superhuman strength and letting him leap across buildings by channeling power through his legs. His biggest weakness is that his power runs down with use, so he becomes less dangerous once his stored charge is drained. As a criminal, he relies more on sudden force and flashy attacks than careful fighting skill, making him dangerous when fully charged but vulnerable if kept away from electricity.
