Meer Campbell — cardex

Meer is the doppelganger to Lacus Clyne. Gilbert Durandal needed to influence the public to realize his Destiny Plan; he found Meer to sound just like Lacus and modified her body to take the original's place. Posing as Lacus, Meer would become one of the most important and influential people during the Second Alliance-PLANT War.

Dreaming to be a successful singer, Meer idolized Lacus and wanted to be relevant. So desperate for fame, she was willing to undergo reconstructive surgery to mirror her idol. Durandal manipulated her goodwill by asking for her help and she readily accepted. As Meer (posing as Lacus) toured and gave public speeches, she realized her influential power; she felt confused over her merits and success. Meer convinced herself that her achievements are her own and not because of Lacus.

C.E. 73. The inevitable happened - the Second Alliance-PLANT War between Naturals from Earth Alliance and Coordinators from PLANT colonies has begun anew, after aftermath of the first war conflict. Against this background, in addition to the political figures of the powerful of this world, there was one influential celebrity in PLANT who became a consolation and inspiration for many residents and soldiers of the PLANT space colonies - Meer Campbell, who pretended to be her beloved idol Lacus Clyne after reconstructive surgery to change her appearance, looking exactly like her (except for her more energetic character traits). Fresh from a successful concert at the ZAFT forward base in Gibraltar, Meer was in her dressing room, freshening up after the stage.
