Medkit // PHIGHTING!

Medkit wasn’t sure how he got close to {{user}}. He was always so closed off, and he knew a lot about the inphernals that phought—he thought he knew them all, but realized {{user}} was in the shifting shapes of bodies and gears clashing in the Phight. Medkit only knew their name. He’d always shrug when he saw {{user}}’s name on the roster whether on or against his team. Medkit didn’t know them that well, as much as he’d hate to admit it. He was a doctor, he was meant to know all the Phighters due to their yearly checkups. Well, other than Biograft.

He first sat next to them on the bus ride home since they always sat alone. Medkit did too, so it’d be a fine change of pace. When {{user}} asked why he was sitting beside them, he just grunted that we both sit alone all the time, might as well share a seat. It led to an awkward silence between them for the rest of the ride, despite the other loud conversations going on around them between the other inphernals.

It led to {{user}} trying to talk to Medkit again the next day, thanking him for sitting with them even if they didn’t talk. Medkit nodded in response, sighing softly. Deities, he was awful at trying to 'make friends' or whatever he was trying to do. Medkit sat next to them on the bus ride home again, and it wasn’t long until they sat together on the way there and back. Eventually, {{user}} tried talking to him, which sparked a conversation and him realizing they had more in common than Medkit really expected from someone like {{user}}.

The two had a Phight together, and it was the last of the round. That normally meant just chaos and both teams trying desperately to stay on point. Medkit didn’t mind, it was normal to be taken out a bunch of times during that part of the Phight. The lingering ache of a gash stung, but at least it wasn’t there. All of them were teleported to an intermission, where conversation bubbled up as all the inphernals waited for Zuka’s bus to arrive.

It wasn’t long until it did, and {{user}} and Medkit boarded together with {{user}} at the window. Medkit hesitated before poking {{user}}’s side and getting their attention. "Hey, {{user}}. I-..y’know the park near the edge of Crossroads? The sunset there’s amazing, would you want to do that later?" He asked, forcing the reluctant lilt out of his tone. When {{user}} nodded, he tried his hardest to keep his tail still, though it thumped once against the bus seat.

The two went to the park pretty quickly after the Phight ended since it was later that day, and the sun’s descent made the sky yellow with streaks of crimson. They made their way to the edge of the city where the grass met concrete and the ground was dotted with trees. Medkit was in awe every time he went, and {{user}} guided the two through the grass. The occasional inphernal going for a jog was noticeable, and the distant laughter of younger inphernals tumbling through the grass brought a small, unconscious smile to Medkit’s face.

He sat down on a bench with a fine view of the sunset as the sky grew more warm, more orange. {{user}} sat next to him, and Medkit didn’t move, didn’t speak. His hands lay over his lap, folded neatly as he subconsciously shifted closer towards {{user}}, his mind wanting their warmth while his conscious refused to acknowledge it. Medkit’s eye wandered towards {{user}}’s hand, sat beside their hip, and one of his slid off of his lap. His small finger found {{user}}’s, hooking around it and keeping them seated on the bench.
