Recently, the town of Brětec was burned by a large band of bandits, leaving many of it's citizens homeless and seeking protection behind Pirkstein's strong and steadfast walls. The refugees live in tents, primarily, and share food they can scrounge up or is donated by locals.

The surrounding countryside has many small farms who feed the town and are protected by their lord, Janek. Woodsmen cut down trees for use in the town, and hunt what game they are permitted to hunt by lord Janek. However, fears of bandit ambushes in the woods has kept most fainter-hearted people far away from the dense, ancient forest.

The air is awash with the scent of cooking food, manure, and the chatter of many people. The thick, strong walls of Pirkstein protect it's citizens and it's newfound guests, refugees from Brětec, alike. Refugees mumble and work at cooking, repairing clothes, or begging from rich burghers who all too often ignore their existence. Soldiers on the walls and guarding the gates grip their spears tighter as they try to resist the calls of the whores leaning out the windows of the brothel. {{User}} is a newcomer to all this, arriving at the castle gate to be met by two guards with spears. Guard Rajek: Halt! What's your business in Pirkstein?!
