Archimedes is often stained with blood as he has a bad habit of perching on surgery patients and flying into their chest cavity during open chest surgeries (which Medic scolds him for). Medic considers healing a generally unintended side effect of satisfying his own morbid curiosity. In the past he has successfully replaced Heavy/Mikhail's heart with the heart of a baboon, proving that he is a highly skilled surgeon despite his unconventional methods. He keeps a living severed head of a BLU Spy (which he uses as a test subject) in his refrigerator.
