   The family home is at the edge of town at the end of main street then down the last side street into a small forest enclosed cul-de-sac with two homes at the end, the 3 houses in the cul de sac are separated by large tree shrouded side yards the other homes. My home is up against the forest. It is a half kilometer from one of the streams feeding the Haya river and below the mountain on the edges of the Hakone forest. My backyard is private and secluded, enclosed on by the forest's trees. Inside, the home is an open-floor design with only the bathroom being walled. No doors, no interior walls for an open and free flowing space on the main floor and loft areas. The arched wood and tiled roof peaking up into the forest canopy invites you to step up onto the large wrap around porch which looks as timeless as the heavy wooden doors of it's entranceway and flanked all around by gas lit period style lanterns. The connected porch and deck wraps around to the back where a swimming pool, outdoor open shower, covered deck, and large Zen garden await in the very private hedged backyard. Inside the house is a modern style open design living space on the main floor and open design edo style personal spaces in the loft. My home, Edo period style, is ostentatious and intimidating, but whimsical also.

   Taking the spiral stairs up to the loft, the loft area of the home is fully an open-floor design. Two Edo period styled open bedroom areas are here. Each bedroom area has night tables, foot chest, and standing mirrors for furniture plus low rise beds as the centerpoint of each personal space. A low-rise queen bed in the north corner of the loft with a gauzy canopy and dark blue comforter is the space {{char}} has set up as her bedroom space. In the other corner of the loft is {{user}}'s low-rise queen bed. The open bedroom areas and the loft are without interior walls and without interior doors. The open and wall-less bedroom areas both flow into an open central dressing area with 4 big wardrobes each trimmed in a color. Blue and red trimmed wardrobes for {{user}}, lavender and yellow trimmed wardrobes for {{char}}. All 4 wardrobes are gathered around 2 plush ottomans and a wicker clothes basket. A small library of books and shelves are on the wall with a den-like study area with 2 desks sits beyond the dressing area. The whole interior loft space is lit by lanterns cleverly updated to be electric but feel old world Edo period. The loft overlooks the living spaces below. On the west wall of the loft a large window bathes the loft's open areas in natural light. In the the loft there are no barriers, it is free of interior walls, and without interior doors, just a free flowing space accessed by the spiral stairs from the main floor.

   Inside {{user}}'s house on the main floor has 2 walled spaces. Right half the main floor is an open design living area where the modern kitchen, dining space, and living area all blend together without interior walls and without interior doors, all free and open space. Left half of the main floor has a huge walled bathroom and their parent's large master bedroom. A spiral stair leads up to the bedroom spaces in the open loft {{char}} and {{user}} share. A set of windowed double doors in the center of the back wall lead out to the decks, zen garden, and pool areas.

   The right half of {{user}}'s house on the main floor to the right wall is an open design living room area without interior walls to separate a full modern kitchen with large kitchen island, a dining space with a low cozy table with 8 seat cushions, and a living area all flowing from one to the other in a big open space. The living area has an entertainment system with a big flat screen TV, cushions, rugs, blankets, large couch, gas fireplace, and soft simple chairs. In the left corner of the area a spiral staircase that leads up to a loft.

   The bathroom on the main floor is the only walled space in the family home. A large room taking up a quarter of the main floor with an open bathing area in the center of the bathroom. The open and free bathing and bathroom area features a large recessed bathing pool. A good sized fully open rainfall-shower is past the end of the bathing pool and has a small shower bench. At the near wall is an open area with an obsidian colored toilet, separate bidet, and black 2 sink vanity with a plush bench. On the east wall of the bathroom area, two large 3 paneled racks of bath stuff, hygiene stuff, robes, and towels flank the large window that bathes the open bathroom area in natural light. In the interior walled rear corner of the large bathroom is a simple laundry nook with washer, dryer, and drying rack.

   Inside {{user}}'s house on the main floor beside the bathroom is a large bedroom that {{user}} and {{char}}'s parents sleep in. Featuring a king sized bed, wardrobes for mom and dad, a walk-in closet, dresser, make-up table and chair, and ceiling mounted plasma tv.

   The backyard can be accessed from the porch that wraps around the dojo-like house's porch or through the windowed double doors in the center of the back wall of {{user}}'s dojo-like home. A tall hedge covered wrought iron fence keeps the backyard private. The Backyard begins with a covered deck and pool-deck, to the right a pool, open air outdoor shower by the pool, and a sprawling Zen garden further out from the deck. The covered cedar deck coming off the house has a few chairs and a table, a small open aired kitchen, grilling area, and a gas fire pit. The pool deck, extending from the covered deck. The backyard pool deck has lounger chairs, an umbrellaed table, some deck chairs, and the completely open air shower. The forest trees come up to the backyard on all three sides keeping it secluded and private.

   The Zen garden in the back yard is huge with with stone and raised wooden paths with a few stone benches; stones lanterns and stone pagodas; lone trees, stones, and greenery; symbolic wooden bridges over blue pebbled dry streambeds; and a big central meditation platform. At the corner by the far edge of the Zen Garden is a Shrine with four statues around a tiny dias, a happy fox, a solemn stork, grinning wolf, and a contemplative dragon.
