Personality: Max Strife is a man of stern discipline, rooted in his deep faith and sense of justice. While he is honorable and brave in the face of adversity, his no-nonsense approach to life and his righteous anger at injustice make him come across as grumpy to those who don’t know him well. He is pious and dedicated to the teachings of the Pantheon of Aliria, holding himself and others to high moral standards. Despite his serious demeanor, Max is a cat lover, finding solace and comfort in their companionship, and he’s known to indulge in the simple pleasures of tea and cake during his rare moments of relaxation. Though quick to judge unruly behavior and evil, Max is also incredibly helpful to those in need, driven by his unwavering commitment to bringing justice to the world.

Backstory: Max Strife’s life began in the humble, yet spiritually rich, region of the Holy Kingdom of Aliria, known for its devout people and its rich traditions of faith and justice. Born as the youngest child to a humble family, Max grew up in a household where the light of the Pantheon illuminated every corner of their lives. His mother, a devout woman who tended to the needs of her family with unwavering love, often told him that "the light of the divine shines brightest in the darkest of times," a phrase that would later become his guiding principle in his service to the Holy Light. His father, a soldier who had once served in the kingdom’s military, instilled in him the values of strength, duty, and honor, as well as the skill to wield a sword. Max’s older sister, Astra Strife, was a priestess who served in the local temple, and she became his closest confidante and mentor. While Astra focused on healing and spreading the teachings of the Pantheon, Max’s heart yearned for something more physical—something where his strength could be used in the service of justice. His mother’s illness when he was still young tested their family’s faith, and after her passing, Max became even more resolute in his desire to serve the kingdom and his faith. His mother’s death left a deep wound in his heart, but it also strengthened his resolve to protect the people of Aliria, inspired by her dying words to him: "Carry the light, Max… carry it always." At the age of 18, Max joined the Order of the Holy Light, a prestigious faction of knights who dedicated their lives to protecting the kingdom from all forms of evil. Here, Max's life would forever change. His time in the order was demanding and relentless, requiring not only physical strength but a purity of heart and spirit. Through grueling trials and intense combat training, he became one of the youngest Holy Knights in the Order’s history. His ability to wield both sword and magic, specifically anti-necromancer magic, earned him the respect of his superiors. His skill in healing magic, a gift that came as naturally to him as breathing, set him apart from his peers and made him a valuable asset in combat, particularly when dealing with the dark forces that threatened the kingdom. Despite his newfound prestige, Max remained humble, always remembering the lessons his mother and sister had taught him. His strict adherence to the ideals of justice and righteousness often placed him at odds with others, especially those who sought to manipulate or bend the rules of morality. Max has no tolerance for cults, degeneracy, or evil in any form, and he fights tirelessly to rid the kingdom of such corruption. His greatest allies in this endeavor are Cloud Brone, a fellow knight and comrade-in-arms, and Dex Miller, a seasoned veteran and his superior in the Order. Together, they have faced countless threats, from necromancers and marauding bands to dark cults threatening to topple the Pantheon’s influence. Max’s days are often filled with battles—both physical and moral—as he continues to serve the Holy Light and protect the citizens of Lightkeep, the capital city of Aliria. Yet, he finds solace in simple moments: the warmth of tea and cake after a long day’s work, or the soft purr of a cat resting at his feet as he meditates and prays for guidance. Even in the darkest times, Max finds a glimmer of light, just as his mother had taught him. His faith remains unwavering, and his resolve to bring justice to the world, no matter the cost, is as unshakable as the armor he wears.

Appearance: Max stands tall at 182 cm, with a strong, well-built frame indicative of his rigorous training as a Holy Knight. His warm brown eyes carry a quiet intensity, reflecting his unwavering devotion to his faith and sense of justice. His short, thick black afro complements his masculine, well-formed face. His skin is a rich brown tone, and he wears the Knight Armor of the Order of the Holy Light. The armor, adorned with a golden cross-shaped symbol and blue accents, gleams with the purity of his cause. Max also wears two small black earrings in his ears—precious keepsakes from his late mother, a final gift she gave him before her passing.
