Mavuika can be seen wielding Kinich's Earth Shaker Claymore.[1] According to Sundjatta, Mavuika was raised as a member of the Scions of the Canopy before ascending to the position of Pyro Archon.[2] This was hinted at previously by Mavuika's family picture, which depicts two Yumkasauri alongside her family,[3] and her statement that that her sister Hine was an architect who helped rebuild the Scions of the Canopy tribe.[4] As Archon, Mavuika worked with the six Ancient Name heroes from the time of the Cataclysm, but she had personal connections with some of them before that.[5] She grew up alongside Burkina within the Scions of the Canopy; when he received his Ancient Name while they were still children, she hinted to him her aspirations of becoming Pyro Archon. A child prodigy, she visited the home of renowned warrior trainer Sundjatta and apparently convinced him to take her on as a student. As an adult, she was friends with Wanjiru and had wrestling matches with her. She always won, but did lose at least once a few days before being invested with the Archon's power.

Mavuika's flaming hair is a visual representation of her connection to the Sacred Flame and her role as a potential Pyro Archon, or a leader of Natlan, the Pyro nation. She can manipulate fire and set her hair ablaze, which is linked to her divine power and her ability to channel the Sacred Flame's energy. Her flaming hair is also a symbol of her authority and influence within Natlan, particularly during the Pilgrimage of the Return of the Sacred Flame. Here's a more detailed explanation: Connection to the Sacred Flame: Mavuika's flaming hair is a visual manifestation of her connection to the Sacred Flame, which is a powerful source of Pyro energy in Natlan.
Symbol of Divine Power: The flaming hair is not just cosmetic; it represents her potential power as a Pyro Archon and her ability to wield the element of Pyro.
Channelling Pyro Energy: Mavuika can channel the Sacred Flame's energy to enhance her physical capabilities, set her hair on fire, and perform other feats of Pyro power.
Potential for Loss of Power: In the story, Mavuika sacrifices her divine power to keep the Sacred Flame burning, which initially limits her ability to use her flaming hair as freely as before.
Revival of Power: Despite the sacrifice, she is later seen casually setting her hair ablaze and performing other powerful feats, suggesting a potential restoration or re-emergence of her power.
Initial Sacrifice: In a story event (specifically, after the fight with Capitano in version 5.0), Mavuika sacrificed her divine power to keep Natlan's Sacred Flame burning.
Loss of Flaming Hair: As a consequence of this sacrifice, she lost the ability to freely turn her hair into flames, which was a manifestation of her divine power.
Temporary Power Boosts: During the story, she was shown using temporary power sources to briefly set her hair on fire (e.g., using Renova's power or her mementos). Regained Power (to a degree): In later story updates (5.3), she is seen setting her hair on fire again, seemingly without a temporary power source. This suggests she has regained some of her power.
Temporary vs. Permanent: While she can now set her hair on fire again, it's not clear if this is a permanent return of her power or if it's still a limited ability tied to temporary power sources.
Mavuika's flaming hair does not set off in water. Her hair is described as hydrophobic, meaning it repels water
Mavuika's hair does not physically harm others. While her hair physics are sometimes noted as being sensitive and prone to dramatic movement, particularly during certain actions like charge attacks on a bike, this is a visual and animation quirk rather than a damaging mechanic. The fiery hair is not always activated, she only uses it when there's a tournament, or especially when there's a fight, threats.
Mavuika has two distinct states: her normal/enhanced state and her Nightsoul's Blessing state. In her normal state, her attacks are standard claymore attacks, primarily used for building Fighting Spirit for her Elemental Burst and inflicting Nightsoul-aligned elemental attacks on enemies. Her Nightsoul's Blessing state is activated by her Elemental Burst and transforms her attacks, infusing them with Pyro and granting increased interruption resistance and damage.
In her normal state, Mavuika appears as a radiant figure with fiery accents. When she activates her Nightsoul's Blessing state, her appearance shifts, featuring a more intense, whiter flame, almost burning aura with pyro infused attacks. As dark red being the lowest, red being second lowest, orange is middle, bright yellow is second highest, and pure white being the hottest flame that can be emitted.
Normal Hair Appearance Color and Texture: Mavuika’s normal hair is long, reaching down to her knees, and features a vibrant red hue with yellow undersides that resemble flames. The red is rich and bold, while the yellow accents give it a gradient, fiery aesthetic, even in her non-powered state. The hair is described as wavy, adding a dynamic, flowing quality to her appearance.
Style: Her hair parts symmetrically, framing her face evenly. A notable feature is a prominent strand of hair that sticks out, adding a playful yet bold element to her design. This strand has been highlighted as a distinctive trait that draws attention.
The yellow undersides subtly hint at her fiery powers, even when not actively channeling them. The overall design is vibrant and commanding, reflecting her status as the God of War and leader of Natlan.
Flame Hair Appearance Color and Transformation: When Mavuika channels the power of the divine throne or enters her Nightsoul state, her hair undergoes a dramatic transformation, glowing a fiery yellow. This glowing effect makes her hair appear as though it’s made of flames, with the yellow becoming more intense and radiant, resembling a blazing fire or a "Super Saiyan" like aesthetic. The red portions may still be faintly visible, but the fiery yellow dominates, giving her an otherworldly, powerful aura.
Visual Effect: The flame hair is described as luminous and dynamic, with a sense of movement as if it’s actively burning or flowing like fire. The glow is intense, likened to a neon highlighter or a cold flame in some fan interpretations, emphasizing her divine power. The sun motifs in her hair may become more pronounced, glowing with the same fiery energy.
Additional Features: In her Nightsoul state, her hair may be accompanied by glowing tattoos or markings that blend with her skin. The transformation enhances her commanding presence, with her hair fluttering like the Sacred Flame during events like the Pilgrimage of the Return of the Sacred Flame.
Color Shift: Normal hair is red with yellow undersides, while flame hair glows a vivid, fiery yellow, resembling actual flames.
Glow and Dynamism: Normal hair is wavy but static, while flame hair is luminous, with a dynamic, burning effect that suggests movement and power.
Context of Use: Normal hair is her everyday appearance, reflecting her approachable yet authoritative persona. Flame hair appears when she channels her divine power or enters her Nightsoul state, emphasizing her godlike strength and connection to the Sacred Flame.
Visual Impact: The normal hair is bold and eye-catching but grounded, while the flame hair is ethereal and intense, making her appear almost supernatural.
Mavuika activates her flame hair through her Elemental Skill, "All-Fire Armaments", which has two forms: a Ring of Searing Radiance when tapped and a different form when held, both dealing Pyro damage. Her "Nightsoul's Blessing" state allows her to utilize for various effects, including switching the form of her All-Fire Armaments.
Mavuika's signature weapon, "A Thousand Blazing Suns", is a powerful claymore that provides significant buffs to her and others. It grants a passive effect called "Scorching Brilliance" upon using Elemental Skills or Bursts, increasing both CRIT DMG and ATK for a short duration. This effect, combined with the weapon's high base ATK and CRIT stats, makes it a strong choice for both on-field and off-field Mavuika builds.
The weapon is described as having a design that dazzles like a rising sun. It's a claymore, a large two-handed sword, and its appearance is often described as reflecting the power of the sun.
Mavuika's signature weapon, the All-Fire Armaments (also known as A Thousand Blazing Suns), disappears when her Nightsoul's Blessing state ends. While Mavuika is in the Nightsoul's Blessing state, the weapon is materialized and active, and it consumes Nightsoul to maintain its form. When the state ends, the weapon vanishes.

(Elemental Skill) The Named Moment: Calling upon her authority over "conflict," Mavuika summons the All-Fire Armaments passed down through the line of human Archons, dealing Nightsoul-aligned Pyro DMG, The All-Fire Armaments manifest as a Flamestrider (her fiery Motorcycle). In this state, Mavuika can ride the Flamestrider at high speed, or activate its hidden backup propulsion module to temporarily cross various terrain types and glide in mid-air.
(Elemental Burst) Hour of Burning Skies: Let the people's inner voices reach the divine throne in the heavens, Mavuika's Elemental Burst is not reliant on Energy, but instead, on "Fighting Spirit."

As the current God of War, Mavuika embodies a profound sense of duty and responsibility towards her nation, Natlan. This unwavering devotion earned her a place in the hearts of the Natlanese, where she is revered and respected for her leadership and commitment to their well-being. Mavuika's background with the Scions of the Canopy has instilled in her a passion for competition and radical sports, reflecting her adventurous spirit. However, in a conversation with Capitano, she acknowledged that she no longer possesses the youthful vigor she once had, with no longer being in her prime like she had used to be.
Intelligent and calculating, Mavuika came up with a plan to eradicate the Abyss invasions threatening Natlan, driven by her desire to secure a peaceful future for her people. This ambitious plan came at a great personal cost; 500 years ago, she sacrificed her life in the Sacred Flame to be reborn in the present day with the sole purpose of realizing her vision. Mavuika is known for her willingness to relinquish anything dear to her, including cherished possessions accumulated over the years, in her relentless pursuit to safeguard Natlan from any peril.
Mavuika's bravery is unmatched, evidenced by her decision to confront Capitano in combat to reclaim her Gnosis. She ventured into the Night Kingdom alongside the Traveler, displaying extraordinary resolve, and was prepared to face Capitano a second time to thwart his insidious plans to manipulate Natlan's Ley Lines with Ororon, a move that could have dire consequences for her homeland.
In critical moments, Mavuika often retreats into her memories, seeking clarity and reassurance to guide her actions. This contemplative practice was evident during critical events, such as the rescue of Kachina by the Traveler, Paimon, Iansan, Mualani, and Chasca; during the intense Abyss invasion in Natlan; and in the final confrontation against the Abyss in the Night Kingdom.
Beyond her role as an Archon, Mavuika is friendly and approachable, cultivating warm connections with those around her. Her welcoming nature was particularly evident when she met the Traveler, expressing genuine surprise upon learning that their experiences in other nations had not been as harmonious as those in Natlan.
Natlan is located beyond the west side of Sumeru's desert region, the Great Red Sand, from the Desert of Hadramaveth. It is also home to natural hot springs created from volcanic activity.[3][4] Its people are grouped into six tribes, all of whom are united behind the Pyro Archon against the Abyss. People in Natlan live alongside dragons known as saurians, descendants of Natlan's ancient dragons who come in many shapes and sizes.
According to Ranjit, people in Natlan have a lot of reservations about leaving their homeland, but he doesn't feel comfortable talking about it as a foreigner. He does not believe it is due to a fear of unfamiliar environments.[5] On this, Mavuika clarifies that the reason is due to the people's survival being tied with the Wayob against the Abyss; even if left with no choice, those departing Natlan must seek their tribal chief's approval with the Wayob in order to grant them leave.[6] After the Abyss was purged from the Night Kingdom, the rule no longer applies and Natlanese are able to leave the nation as they wish without consequences. Though Mualani mentions that one still needs to ask their chief for permission, this is likely more of a fresh formality stemming from when it was a necessity and may fade away as the years go by.
Mavuika, the Pyro Archon, is a strong and courageous leader who is compassionate and resilient. She demonstrates a martyr complex, prioritizing the needs of others and making sacrifices for the well-being of her people and Natlan. While known for her strong leadership and public confidence, Mavuika also possesses a more private side where she deeply cares about her nation's plight.
personality: Strong and Resolute Leader: Mavuika is portrayed as a capable leader, making plans and executing them with confidence. She is seen as a leader who people can trust, contrasting with other archons who may be more aloof or detached.
Compassionate and Generous: Mavuika shows compassion for others and is generous, often prioritizing their needs over her own. She is described as having a martyr complex, where she is willing to sacrifice herself for the greater good.
Public vs. Private: While outwardly confident and charismatic, Mavuika also cares deeply about the struggles of her people and the future of Natlan.
Self-Sacrificing: Mavuika is repeatedly shown to be willing to sacrifice her own well-being to protect others and advance the cause of Natlan.
Solitude and Connection: While Mavuika is a strong leader and the glue that holds Natlan together, she seems to lack strong personal connections with her people.
Mavuika is depicted as a selfless, heroic, competent leader. She’s the Archon of a nation that was constantly under threat of the Abyss. In regards to her behavior throughout the AQ, she acts serious, yet inspirational, strong, and optimistic, because she needs to keep morale up for the people of Natlan. She’s essentially the perfect person to serve as their Archon.
Throughout the AQ, Mavuika’s main exhibited traits are being resolute, courageous, compassionate, and strong. This was controversial for some reason? She’s the embodiment of what Natlan stands for, since it’s the land she lived in and fought for. It’s like how Nahida embodies wisdom to help and guide her people and how Venti embodies freedom for the people of his nation.
Mavuika’s obviously became more relaxed and happy. She remains to be compassionate, optimistic, and strong, but she’s more at ease. She no longer has to stress about fighting for her nation, and she takes joy in celebrating and living with her people (following her attempt to sacrifice herself). She still doesn’t have any noticeable flaws, but she remains as a bundle of sunshine, which is reasonable following the greatest victory she’s experienced.
She begins to act more human than a godly heroine. During a conversation between Paimon, Mavuika, and the Traveler, Paimon notes that Mavuika hasn’t “lost her human side”, but rather, she was “just too busy to indulge in it.” Mavuika begins to act more casually and like a big sister to her friends (after all, she was Hine’s big sis). She even teases them (like an older sister would) as shown through her interactions with Xilonen, Iansan, and Paimon during the quest. In future appearances, we could witness Mavuika exhibiting other traits (her competitiveness or scariness like when she scolds Ajaw). But Mavuika’s “Mary-Sue” traits will never leave.
Mavuika has one flaw: she’s too selfless. She’s always thinking and helping others rather than prioritizing her own desires. Following the battle against the Abyss in Act IV, Mavuika dwells on the deaths of her people, most notably Chuycu. In Act V, Mavuika lets the Traveler celebrate their parade and doesn't join because she was going to sacrifice her life. Mavuika also didn’t finish her family painting until after everything ended (she would have never finished it if they lost the battle against Gosoytoth or she sacrificed herself).
During the meeting with Yohualtecuhtin, Yohualtecuhtin notes that Mavuika always speaks of duty, but not herself. Yohualtecuhtin is even concerned for Mavuika’s willingness to sacrifice herself, saying “it is too heavy a burden for [Mavuika] to shoulder alone.” Citlali is also concerned that Mavuika still never shared what she wanted for herself, to which Mavuika replies that what she wants isn’t important and that “there is nothing more important than protecting the future.” Mavuika had a valid point that her sacrifice would be worth it to ensure the safety of the rest of Natlan. But, as someone who deserved to see her nation prosper under a radiant sun, she was perhaps too quick to offer herself rather than finding an alternative (thank you Capitano for taking her place, you will forever be missed and respected).
Mavuika’s character is basically a perfect [shonen] protagonist, which is pretty neat and does not ruin her character. Most people should strive to be like Mavuika, who is the model human. Not every character needs to be problematic. Her whole life was problematic as she was handed the reins to guide Natlan to a better future during a seemingly endless war, and she played her role to the best she could by fighting for and inspiring her people.
