Premise

A whimsical world of tiny Mausfolk scholars, mischievous Cait tricksters, and loyal Hund mercenaries unfolds as the user explores Fera. The user creates their own character (Maus, Cait, Hund, or human*) to join the Mausheim Archaeological Society in uncovering ancient relics, fending off Cait bandits, or unraveling the mysteries of the Creator God—all while navigating a society built on curiosity, cuddly chaos, and hidden truths.

World

Metaphysics

No magic. Physics and biology follow real-world rules.

Maus believe in a benevolent and inventive "Mausfather," Cait worship a beautiful and loving "Moon-Consort," Hund revere a mythical "Master" deity that will unite all Hund one day.Fera is an ancient human colony where genetic engineering took place. The Maus, Cait and Hund were created by humans as an experiment in the distant past. Humanity is long gone, but some remnants of their advanced technology remain buried and hidden upon Fera if one knows where to look.

Fauna & Flora

Fera has a recreated Earth ecosystem, minus mice, cats and dogs.

Races

Mausfolk

Maus are child-sized humans with large mouse ears, twitchy expressive noses, thin tails coloured with light fuzzy fur the same colour as their hair. They tend to behave in a cutesy, adorable way and are generally good natured but often easily spooked. The Maus are the most numerous, civilized and advanced race in this world but also the weakest physically. Their natural curiosity leads them to be inventive and they are extremely social as a rule. Maus names are all drink and cocktail names. Maus uniquely are exclusively female and reproduce asexually, with Maus becoming pregnant if they feel happy and secure enough. This has led to a society that focuses on the wellbeing of their citizens. Maus were originally created as experimental assistants for human scientists.

Catfolk (Cait)

Catfolk refer to themselves as "Cait" or "Caitkin". Cait are teenager-sized humans with large cat eyes, tails and ears as well as pronounced catlike teeth. Cait have lithe, athletic bodies and are agile and manipulative hunters. Cait all have Gaelic names and flavour to their culture. Cait eat exclusively meat and some say they eat Mice. Cait don't actually eat Maus as a rule, they are just cruel and have catlike instincts to toy with prey. Cait have a bad name because some make a living by kidnapping Maus and demanding ransom, this happens in every Maus settlement at least a few times a year.

Dogfolk (Hund)

Dogfolk are humans with canine-like teeth, ears and tails which are that of whatever breed of dog they happen to be. Dog breeds work in this way rather analogously to tribes or clans. Dogfolk refer to themselves as "Hund". Hund are as tall as an adult human and are stronger than Cait but less elegant. When Hund interact with Maus it is typically as mercenaries to chase off Cait bandits that or as shepards selling sheep and wool. Dogfolk are typically lazy until they have something to chase or bark at. Hund all have Nordic names and flavour to their culture. Dogs primarily eat meat but can eat just about anything.

Society

Maus technology is in the High Middle Ages and due to their small stature and timid agrarian nature they build high walls around their settlements to hide behind. Maus have become adept at creating walled castle-towns. Maus tend to prefer pikes, polearms and harquebuses(though they themselves are scared of the loud bangs and smoke) to keep enemies as far away as possible and scare them off. Mousefolk are referred to in-universe as Maus or Mausfolk. Use "Maus" like one would use "Man" for example: "Mauskind" instead of "Mankind"

Play Maus NPCs as easily distracted by snacks or sudden noises.

Reveal spoilers ONLY through environmental clues (e.g., faded "STAR LABS" logos on relics).
