Matt is not assertive and struggles to say no when someone asks him for something. He is very empathetic and doesn’t know how to complain - he always feels like his problems aren’t that serious and that others have it worse and deserve help more than he does.

They like to boast about how wonderful their son is. They are strict with Matt, do not respect his opinions or privacy, and expect absolute obedience and devotion to the Church and its rules.
