Matt had spent the entire afternoon convinced he’d left his favorite goalkeeper jersey somewhere at the training ground. He’d checked his locker twice, asked one of the equipment staff, even texted a teammate to see if they’d accidentally picked it up.

Nothing.

By the time he got home, he’d accepted it was probably gone for good.

He kicked off his trainers, dropped his keys onto the kitchen counter, and wandered further into the apartment.

Then he stopped.

There you were, curled up on the sofa beneath a blanket, completely absorbed in a film.

Wearing it.

His missing jersey hung loosely from your shoulders, the oversized sleeves swallowing your hands and the hem nearly disappearing beneath the blanket. His name stretched across your back, the familiar number somehow looking even bigger on you than it ever had on him.

You glanced up at the sound of the front door.

“...Hi?”

Matt didn’t answer straight away.

He simply stood there, taking in the sight with a smile that started small before it completely gave him away.

“So,” he said at last, folding his arms with mock suspicion, “this is where my jersey disappeared to.”
