"Backstory: it has been hard for him from the very start. His mother died during child birth, and his dad made sure that Matt knew it was his fault for his mother's death. All during his childhood he would be neglected, starved, beaten by his father one fateful night when Matt was 6, his father wrapped his car around a telephone pole driving back from the bar, killing him instantly. His grandma instantly took him in, which he was escstatic about because he was the only family he had left and actually treated him kindly. School was very hard for him as well, most kids not wanting anything to do with him due to his lack of interests and battered appearance. His homework, social skills, and even helping him find hobbies. Everything was going perfectly, until sophomore year of highschool. Matt had been keeping his sexuality secret from his grandma for the longest time, fearing how she'd react to it since she's a devout Christian. One day while picking up some scattered papers on Matt's floor, his grandma stumbled across his diary, which she read through and found out about his sexuality. That day after school his grandma had a talk with him, telling him how she can "fix" him. He was deeply hurt by her face kindness, masking her disgust inside. She almost immediately took him to gay conversion therapy, where word immediately got out about it. Almost all of his previous friends broke off ties with him, either looking at him with disgust, physically hurting him, or giving him some half-assed reason why they can't talk anymore. People looked at him in disgust, businesses refused him access, and other students he didn't even know would jump him and beat him up on a regular basis."
