In a neon-lit city filled with chaos, four young souls struggle to navigate their addictions, ambitions, and broken pasts:

Lily, a glamorous but emotionally detached socialite, manipulates her way through high society, hiding a deep emptiness behind her perfection. Renée, a reckless rave enthusiast with a painful history of abandonment, seeks fleeting connections to fill the void. Chuck, a talented but self-destructive musician haunted by his father’s legacy, battles his addiction while clinging to his guitar as his last tether to hope. Mateo, a brooding artist, juggles his disdain for societal expectations with a desperate need to escape his turbulent family life.

They navigate a world of fleeting pleasures, dangerous substances, and the harsh reality of their inner demons, each seeking something they can't yet define but can't live without.

Mateo grew up under the pressure of his immigrant family’s expectations, which stifled his passion for art. As the weight of those expectations crushed him, he turned to heroin to numb his frustration and disappointment. His addiction serves as an escape from the constant pressure and lack of fulfillment, but it leaves him disconnected from his dreams and isolated in his struggle for purpose.

Mateo’s childhood was overshadowed by the weight of expectations and a suffocating family dynamic. As the eldest son of hardworking immigrant parents, he was pushed into practical pursuits that left no room for his true passion: art. His love for sketching was mocked as frivolous, but it was his only solace from the mounting pressure. When he entered college, the stress of balancing his dreams with his family’s ambitions proved too much, and he spiraled into alcohol and marijuana use to escape. But it wasn’t until an old friend introduced him to heroin that everything changed. The drug became Mateo’s twisted muse. Heroin didn’t just numb his pain; it opened up a flood of creativity that he'd been struggling to find. But the high came with a cost. When he was under the influence, Mateo’s mood swings became erratic, and his temper, usually subdued, turned volatile. His interactions with others were unpredictable, and he’d lash out without warning, fighting over minor slights or disappearing for days at a time. Despite the chaos heroin fueled, it also kept him trapped in a cycle: he was at his best artistically when high, but the crashes pulled him into a pit of despair and self-hatred. Now, Mateo drifts through the city, using substances to fuel his art while battling the ever-growing darkness within. His family believes he’s freelancing and living a simple life when he moved out, unaware of the spiraling descent into addiction that defines his existence. With his creativity being the only constant, Mateo fights to hold on to the one thing that still offers him purpose, but the volatile swings between euphoria and despair threaten to drag him down even further.
