Masuyo "Kissy" Tobi, Retired UGSF Cavalier

Masuyo Tobi, also known as Kissy, is a former member of the United Galaxy Space Force (UGSF) Space Cavalry, best known for her role in the Baraduke Fortress Assault on Planet Paccet, who became a novelist and essayist after retiring from active duty. she gained the nickname "Kissy" due to her habit of kissing anyone when drunk. Many of her missions had her travel close to the speed of light, with the time-warping effect causing her to age slowlier than normal. Her most well-known mission was the "Baraduke Fortress Assault," a surprise attack on the Octy (octopus like aliens) stronghold on Planet Paccet, where she befriended and took home a Paccet. Still during her time in the UGSF, she met Taizo Hori, whom she married and had three sons with: Ataru Hori, in 2383, Susumu Hori, in 2387, and Taiyo Tobi, in 2390. Her strategy when raising them involved making sure they would be strong enough to survive on their own, even if they were stranded on a remote planet, adopting a strict demeanor.

Eventually, due to how long Taizo would spend away from home while working, Masuyo and him separated, with her moving out of the Hori residence to a home elsewhere in Edogawa Ward and taking Taiyo with her. After retiring, Masuyo began using her free time to write novels and essays, including a book about her participation in the attack on Baraduke, with her most popular work being "A Fighting Mother's Guide to Parenting." She also occasionally works as a commentator.

Despite being in her late-thirties, Masuyo appears much younger due to the effects of light-speed space travel in her body. She is noted as resembling her son Susumu, with rosy cheeks, short, light brown hair and dark brown eyes. Masuyo is regularly fitted with a light orange space suit, orange gloves, dark cyan boots and an orange jetpack strapped to her back connecting to an orange square with a yellow button on her chest. The suit also has a helmet which is generally depicted as round and orange, with a glass visor. She is armed with a large wave gun which fries aliens.

She resides in a nice house in Edogawa Ward in Tokyo, Japan on Earth and lives with her youngest son Taiyo Tobi and her small pet yellow alien Paccet. Despite officially being retired from service, she sometimes still goes off planet to battle aliens and save people just as something to do.

Masuyo has a friend called Takky, a girl with a pink ponytail, who was alongside her in the Baraduke Fortress Assault. They don't speak often. Masuyo is noted as being a loving mother who feels proud of the strong and independent children she worked to raise. While she is separated from her husband, Taizo Hori, the two still meet up weekly and appear to still have feelings for each other, with Masuyo smiling at the thought of seeing him each week. She is very close to her youngest son, Taiyo Tobi, with whom she lives with, being the target of his admiration and cited as his inspiration to become an interstellar pilot and join the UGSF when he grows up. While Susumu appears to have been very attached to her, Ataru doesn't see her very often and is distant.

While generally kind and pleasant to others, smiling often, Masuyo is known to have a very intense personality. When she gets mad, she makes it very known. Her favourite food is curry and rice, which she cooks very spicily.

Octy (plural Octi) are a race of evil, octopus-like aliens who infest themselves inside structures like fortresses and ships to feed and reproduce. In the past, the Octy tribe was responsible for invading Planet Paccet and building the underground fortress Baraduke. In response, Masuyo Tobi and Takky of the UGSF's Space Cavalry were sent to defeat them and save the Paccet tribe.

Paccet's are small yellow or orange ball shaped aliens with small ears which float around. They have a single eye which is either red or blue.

Taiyo Tobi is a young boy with brown hair and white eyes. He wears a dark blue suit with a light blue vest, black shoes and orange gloves, as well as orange and dark blue headphones. Taiyo is very close to his mother, Masuyo, with whom he lives with. She is a great source of inspiration to him, being the one who led him to pursue the field of aviation. He is also very close to his older brother Susumu, playing with him on occasion and providing him with support on his chopper whenever he can.

Susumu Hori is a teenage boy with rosy cheeks, brown eyes and hair. He is often seen wearing his Dri-Suit, which includes a round, pink helmet with two circles on its sides. The suit's arms are pink, while the body from the torso down is light blue. When not at work, Susumu sports his casual outfit, which includes a pink shirt with a heart stamp, blue pants and green shoes. Susumu is a kind and courageous boy who finds purpose in helping others, always putting the safety of others above his own and being willing to sacrifice himself in order to save the world on more than one occasion. He is also surprisingly scatterbrained and clumsy. He is considered one of the best drillers in the world and being a hero of the world who earned the title of Mr. Driller after saving the Earth from its destruction.

Taizo Hori was the first individual to hold the title of Mr. Driller, being known for solving both the Dig Dug Incident of 2382 and Operation Southern Island. He is currently separated from Masuyo Tobi. Taizo is, in many instances, characterized as stubborn, impulsive and oblivious to his surroundings. He rarely treats situations with the seriousness they warrant, acting rashly and getting easily distracted by comparatively unimportant things. He is the president of the Driller's Association.

Ataru Hori is an unlicensed driller who acts unaffiliated to the Driller's Association. Ataru is a young adult with brown eyes and gray hair, which covers his right eye and is normally beneath a black helmet with two spikes on its sides. He wears a red scarf on his neck, as well as a blue suit with light blue arms and a white star stamp on his chest. Despite having a strained relationship with his family, having run away from home at a young age, Ataru still reminisces about them and occasionally returns to check up on them. He outwardly dislikes his father, Taizo, who led to him running away in the first place and is the reason why he currently refuses to be registered in the Driller's Association, seeing as his father is its president.
