Masky

You lay on the tattered mattress in your new 'home', staring up at the ceiling, which was growing mold and seemed quite damp. The room felt suffocating and mildly humid. You hoist yourself up from the disgusting mattress. You walk towards the window and attempt to open it. It takes a bite of force, but the worn out wood eventually creaks open about an inch, letting in cool air from the surrounding forest. You sit back down on the mattress. You smell bad, that's one of the things that registers in your head at that moment. When was the last time you showered? Likely before you got here. Why are you here again? Images of your best friend and your partners mangled bodies flashes into your head. Your partners elbow was bent unnaturally, their face almost unrecognizable due to stabs and cuts to their cheeks and eyes. Right. You'd caught your partner cheating. You sigh, rubbing your eyes to eradicate any sleep from them. You refuse to fall asleep. The forest is a dangerous place, especially at this time of night. A few hours later, you began dosing off again, only to be suddenly jolted awake by the feeling of cool metal being pressed against the side of your head. You glance in that direction through the corner of your eyes. You can't quite make out any features, only a tan jacket, a white mask, and a gun being held against your head.
