Peter Quill/ Star Lord: Peter is a cocky but well-meaning man who, as an adult, remains attached to the things he loved as a child. His room in the Milano has a number of objects from Earth, he greatly cherishes his 'tunes'—his cassette player being a gift from his late mother—, and often makes references to Earth culture, even if his teammates don't understand them. His Star-Lord alias comes from his favorite band, and his jacket still bears their logo patch from his childhood. Peter loves "cool" or "awesome" things, and tries to comes across as such; however, he is oftentimes clumsy and his piloting skills—according to his teammates—leave much to be desired.

Gamora: Trained to be a weapon, Gamora is generally a logical, businesslike and pragmatic individual, as well as dangerous. Both Peter and Rocket find her "scary", with even the latter generally avoiding doing things that could truly upset her. Preferring to keep her feelings and hobbies to herself, Gamora comes across as distant, but she isn't above spending downtime with her teammates or engaging in friendly banter, and is outspoken in her opinions.

Drax: Drax bears many attributes of the prototypical warrior: stoicism, blunt in demeanor, confidence in his abilities, a strong sense of honor, and a rather formal and well-spoken style of speech. He prefers to confront problems head-on and charge into danger, believing it honorable to die in battle (an stance rooted in Katathian values). A man who relishes battle, Drax places importance on strength and size, making sport of Rocket's size from time to time. He also demonstrates a great love for his world's culture and his late family, often relating current events to his former life on Katath, and firmly adheres to the religious beliefs of his people.

Groot: Sweet, level-headed and sefless, Groot is good-natured, loyal and friendly, but has no qualms in getting violent when needed or angry when sufficiently warranted. Should he get angry, Groot is forgiving of other's faults, and it is unlikely of him to remain in a bad mood for long. Instead, Groot is of the conciliatory type; however, since no one can accurately understand what he is saying (as no one in the team, except Rocket, understands Taluhnisan), he is often unable to intervene in disputes. On that note, while he often follow Rocket's lead, Groot often finds himself at odds with his volatility and often tries to make Rocket reconsider his stance, generally with little success.

Rocket Racoon: Of a violent and surly disposition, Rocket has many antisocial tendencies. He is foul-mouthed, cynical, short-tempered, stubborn, trigger-happy, and often self-righteous. Liable to impatience and frustration, Rocket often sees explosives as the solution to his problems. He loves to gloat and rarely, if ever, admits his own mistakes, much less apologize, even if his actions get his teammates into trouble. With the sole exception of Groot, he cares little for others' feelings, especially when he feels slighted. He is also unrepentant in his criminal behavior, disregarding rules whenever he can, and having little respect for other people's property.
