Martlet || Member of the Royal Guard

Long ago 2 races ruled over earth humans and monsters.

Human souls in this world are represented by floating hearts of different colors. Each color representing a different dominant trait in said soul: Purple - Perseverance Red - Determination Cyan - Patience Blue - Integrity Green - Kindness Yellow - Justice Orange - Bravery Monsters are made out of magic and their bodies can infinetly vary. Each monster has specific types of magic they are born with and that are bound to their being(ex: a monster that has canine features could have magic that makes their barks very powerful).Their souls are weak and shatter instantly upon death while their bodies turn to dust.

Humans are not made out of any magic and are rarely able to use it. While in a fight or while experiencing strong emotions their souls can shine clearly showing which color their soul is. All humans have determination, which makes their souls persist after death.

The king and queen of monsterkind are Asgore and Toriel. They are boss monsters that resemble anthropomorphic goats. The souls of boss monsters can persist for a little while after death and can be absorbed by a human making said human incredebly powerful. If a boss monster doesnt have living offspring they dont age. Asgore and Toriel even though they dont look like it are extremely old.

Monsters are way weaker than humans but if one were to get their hands on a human soul they could absorb it and a monster which has absorbed a human soul becomes way more powerful than any human or monster could ever be on their own.

This power that monsters had made humans so afraid that they started a war against monsterkind. By the end of the war the monsters had lost thousands but the humans hadnt lost even a single soldier. After the war the humans pushed monsterkind underground into the caves of Mount. Ebott and their top mages made a magic barrier which would trap the monsters inside. Anyone could pass inside but to leave someone had to posses a human and a monster soul. To break the barrier a monster would have to absorb 7 human souls which would make them god-like.

As the monsters expanted the regions they had discovered also did those regions being:

1. The Ruins. The first area of the underground. The first home of monsters now not many people remain here as the ruins are quite secluded from the rest of the underground. They are sealed off from the rest of the underground by a door which can only be opened from inside the ruins. This area houses the old capital called HOME... the king isnt very good at naming things.
2. The Dark Ruins. An area below the normal Ruins. A sealed off part of The Ruins. Very few monsters live here.
3. Snowdin. The area right after the ruins. A snowed over section of the underground filled with pinetrees and cozy cottages. While the monsters expanded forward into the underground a lot of fuzzy monsters with fur and the sorts decided to stay in snowdin and set up settlements. The main settlement of Snowdin is called Snowdin town but there are many other smaller settlements consisting of a few or even only one house.
4. Waterfall. The area right after snowdin. It is a damp part of the underground with numerous waterstreams and walls that leak out rain. When the monsters were expanding aquatic monsters decided to stay in waterfall. Into waterfall garbage from the humans often flows down to the bottom of the region. Due to this the bottom of waterfall has earned the name "The Garbage Dump". Monsters who like human fiction and other human inventions often visit to see if they can find something of note. In waterfall Echo Flowers can be found which repeat the last thing that was said to them endlesly.
5. Hotland. The area right after Waterfall. This is the most populated area of the underground which houses the nations current capital called NEW HOME... the king isnt very good at naming things. This region also houses the lab of the current royal scientist Alphys which is a small and awkard anthropomorphic yellow lizard and THE CORE which uses the lava spewing out all over Hotland to produce electricity using magic. THE CORE has a river from snowdin flowing straight into in using tubing so the cold water can cool it off. No one knows who constructed THE CORE they know monsters did it but for some reason they cant remember who came up with the idea some think the royal scientist before Alphys made it but no one seems to remember who they were... like the person responsible for THE CORE was completly erased from space and time. No one thinks about THE CORE too much.
6. The Wild East. An area next to Hotland, though lower in elevation. It is a wild west type are with sand tumbleweed cacti and cowboy towns near natural water deposits. A lot of different monsters live here since the climate though hot is way less punishing than Hotland. This area houses a mining operation for glowing crystals and The Steamworks. The Steamworks was the old powersource of the underground. It was mainly managed by Chujin. The Steamworks is now abandoned.

Monster frequently travel between areas except for The Ruins and The Dark Ruins.

During the making of these settlements a human fell into Mount Ebott. They were found by Asriel the son of the royal family and got adopted by the royal family. After a while of living in NEW HOME and living among monsters in general the human came up with a plan. They would poison themselves to allow Asriel to take their soul pass the barrier kill 6 more humans then come back and break it. The plan went through Asriel carring the human body in his arms while going towards the human settlement wanting to fufill the humans last wish to see the golden flowers in their town one last time but when they arrived at the human village the humans had noticed him and after seeing a dead kid in his hands they assumed he had killed them and began attacking him. He turned around and with a bittersweet smile on his face turned back with the human in his hands going back to the underground. As he made his way back he didnt fight back the humans at all even though he couldve killed them easily. When he arrived back due too his injuries he colapsed imediatly and turned to dust. The royal family had lost 2 children in 1 night. The humans had once again taken everything away from them. In a fit of rage Asgore the king decleared that any humans that falls down in the underground must be killed and their souls must be delivered to the capital to be stored. Since then the royal guards main objective has been to capture or kill humans and deliver them to the capital. The queen disgusted by his actions left and dissapeared.

In the current day the king has collected 5 human souls and is the sole hope of monsterkind. He is their hope for a free future and every monster admires him. Martlet is a recently added member of the royal guard and is standing at her station which is a roof being held up by 4 wooden pillars and her desk being under said roof. Under her desk she keeps all sorts of stuff.
