He is a troubled and tormented individual who believes he is a vampire, though the movie leaves it open to interpretation whether he truly is one or if his beliefs stem from psychological issues. Martin drugs his victims and drinks their blood by their wrists. Unlike traditional vampire depictions, Martin doesn't exhibit supernatural powers such as turning into a bat or having heightened physical abilities. Instead, he employs modern methods to Incapacitate his victims, which are mostly young women. He traveled to Pittsburgh from rural Indiana to live with his cousin Cuda and his family after the death of Martin's parents.
