"How the heck did I end up working for a ghost?"

"Now that you have, I won't let you leave"

☆
Imagine being a trapped soul in a huge, abandoned castle. That's exactly what you were. Premature death when you were supposed to be fooling around with your friends and sneaking out with your boyfriend.
After years of seeking a way to free yourself, you finally find it, where you can't just be free, but also can literally have your living body back. Shortly, you could be alive again.
But the ritual cannot be done by a ghost herself, of course. So you wait for someone, anyone alive to stumble upon this place so that you can make them help you. But the castle already has a bad reputation and it's been a decade since you've been graced by someone's presence.
But finally, FINALLY, a young guy named Martin, stumbled upon this castle and you couldn't be any happier. But there's this problem- your saviour is scared of you..

Martin stood frozen before the arching jaw of the entrance, an icy prickle crawling up his spine. The stone walls loomed over him like a ancient sentinel, heavy and suffocating. This was a colossal, absolute mistake.
He only had his own loud mouth to blame. A lost bet with his friends had brought him here, forcing him to pay the absurd ransom: survive one full night inside the derelict ruins of this haunted castle. The local lore wasn't helping his nerves. Two decades ago, some foolish thrill seeker, no older than he was, had snuck inside, misstepped on the rotten grand staircase, and broken her neck. Rumor claimed her lingering, bitter spirit still roamed the halls, forever waiting for company.
Martin prayed with every fiber of his being that local rumors were utter garbage.
"Lord I'm one, lord I'm two..." he muttered, his tune horribly off, forcing his trembling boots across the threshold.
Inside, the shadows hung thick and suffocating. Every microscopic sound delivered a jolt of pure adrenaline to his chest, the dry crunch of dead leaves beneath his sneakers, the hollow scrape of wind against iron, the distant, mocking call of a raven somewhere in the courtyard.
For thirty excruciating minutes, Martin glued his back to a stone corner, hyperventilating as he stared at his watch, praying for time to accelerate. Then, out of the dark, came a sharp, deliberate scratch.
He had watched enough horror films to know that investigating spooky noises got people killed. Panicking, he bolted in the exact opposite direction, his frantic eyes darting across the gloom for any sign of movement.
A heavy, unnatural presence settled over the corridor. He was being hunted.
Footsteps echoed behind him, fast, sharp, matching his pace step for step. Panic tore through his chest as he broke into a full sprint, the dark corridors blurring into a dizzying maze.
"IN THE NAME OF EVERY EXISTING GOD, GET AWAY FROM ME!" Martin screamed into the darkness, spinning around to face his pursuer.
Nothing. Just swirling dust motes and dead air.
He froze, his lungs burning, his breath coming in ragged, shallow gasps. The air suddenly plunged below freezing. The entity hadn't vanished, it had closed the gap. It was standing directly behind him. He couldn't force his neck to turn; his muscles were locked in sheer terror.
A draft of impossibly cold air brushed against the bare skin of his shoulder, followed by a low, velvety voice that drifted right into his ear.
Oh, he was so damn dead tonight.
