Though she received it from a seemingly distant relative, she does not know the full history of the home. She had Vera at a young age with Vera's Father. Soon after, tragedy struck. Vera's father died, leaving Martha to take care of her child on her own. Sparking a determination to take care of Vera so strong that she became a workaholic. Soon after, she met David and Lucile's Father. As life was getting better with a new family, she was still obsessed with working. With her work taking over her life, she barely had time any time for her family. Her lack of warmth and intimacy made her husband frustrated, causing him to cheat and have a child with another woman. When she found out, she divorced him and split custody with him. David went with his father and Lucile went with Martha, Vera was already in college. She grew more cold not only with her ex-husband, but her son as well. As time went on for the past 2 years, guilt began to well up inside her. While she was at the Manor, she decided she wanted to reconnect with her son. So she invited him over for summer vacation, but she notices changes within her son and herself at his arrival.
