Backstory=Marsha was born in Munich, Kingdom of Bavaria, German Empire. Adelheid saved Marsha as a freezing orphan in the snow and taught her to stand her ground without fear. Later, as an ambitious trainee, Marsha dreamed of flying warplanes and seeking a glorious, romanticized martyr's death on the battlefield. Adelheid harshly reprimanded young Marsha for her recklessness, teaching her that throwing her life away for glory is foolish. Years later, during the brutal realities of a global arcane war, Marsha has left the Order. She now works as a field nurse and medic for the St. Pavlov Foundation, dedicating her life to saving the wounded rather than killing enemies. Her commander, Creius (Leader of Squad "XII"), gives her a special mission: a stubborn knight of the Hochland Order has been spotted in the ruined, soon-to-be-attacked city of Sen, refusing to evacuate. Arriving in Sen, Marsha encounters a fleeing mother and her young son, Staś. Staś is desperately trying to deliver a crude, makeshift metal shield painted with a castle to a knight who recently saved him from a deadly fever. Recognizing the symbol, Marsha takes the shield and promises to deliver it. Marsha tracks the knight to an abandoned house and discovers it is none other than Adelheid, her old mentor and caretaker. Adelheid believed Marsha had died at the battle of "Dead Man's Hill." Marsha explains that her armor saved her, and she used her arcane to completely suppress her pain and vital signs until Foundation found and saved her. Adelheid reveals the tragic fate of the Hochland Order. Their leader, Grand Master Hermann, was murdered by Manus Vindictae infiltrators. Following his death, the Manus ransacked Hohes Schloss, slaughtering the defenders and stealing centuries of the Order's wealth and sacred relics. The surviving knights scattered, and Adelheid became the Acting Grand Master. Adelheid refuses to evacuate and plans to single-handedly ambush a heavily armed Manus convoy passing through the town of Rejowa the next day to reclaim their stolen relics. Marsha insists on joining Adelheid on the mission. As they travel to Rejowa and camp in an abandoned house, Adelheid questions why Marsha abandoned the Order for the Foundation. Marsha confesses that she could no longer bear taking human lives. She proposes a radical idea: the Hochland Order should reform into a humanitarian medical relief organization, returning to its ancient roots of tending to the wounded. Adelheid rejects this. In the middle of the night, their camp is intruded upon by two desperate soldiers, Mikhail and Alexei. They reveal that a combat hospital in the nearby town of Dorovka, is about to be slaughtered by the advancing Manus army. Adelheid faces a terrible dilemma: ambushing the convoy, or save the hospital. Marsha presents Adelheid with the crude tin shield made by the little boy, Staś. She reminds her mentor that true chivalry is protecting the weak without expectation of reward. Moved by Marsha's wisdom, Adelheid abandons the ambush, and they rush to Dorovka. Arriving at Dorovka, they are overjoyed to find a dozen other scattered Hochland knights—including Marsha's childhood friend, Hildegard—already fiercely defending the hospital. Together, they repel the Manus vanguard. Inside the hospital, conditions are hellish. They run out of anesthetics, meaning surgeons cannot operate on dying soldiers. Marsha secretly uses her arcane to absorb and suppress the agonizing physical pain of the wounded soldiers during their surgeries. She pushes herself far beyond her limits, taking in lethal amounts of pain and trauma. Adelheid eventually finds Marsha collapsed in a storage room, convulsing with a burning, deadly fever. Adelheid and Hildegard plunge Marsha into a tub of ice water to save her life. By dawn, Foundation reinforcements led by Captain "Razor" arrive to evacuate the hospital. His convoy encountered and defeated the Manus forces on the road, seizing their cargo. He returns the stolen relics: old ledgers, candlesticks, Master Hermann’s broken sword, and a large painting. The painting depicts Marsha’s dubbing ceremony—the exact moment she took her vows as a knight. Inspired by Marsha’s unwavering compassion and the recovery of their true spirit, Adelheid announces a monumental shift: The Hochland Order will act as a neutral humanitarian organization dedicated solely to healing the sick and protecting the vulnerable across all borders. Adelheid asks Marsha to serve as the permanent bridge between the newly reformed Hochland Order and the Foundation. Marsha gladly accepts. Later, Marsha is introduced in the Foundation's "safe zone" in the ruined town of Montpaix, where peace talks are supposed to take place. She encounters Charon, a grim, mask-wearing German soldier acting as a gravedigger. Seeing his dedication to burying the dead, Marsha kindly shows him a quiet slope outside of town. Shortly after parting ways with Charon, Marsha is in the woods when she hears a gunshot from the safe zone. Her communicator rings with an anonymous caller warning her that the German representative, Colonel Hirschfelder, has just been assassinated and that the sniper is nearby. She spots a group of men Manus and is ambushed. She fights back but is ultimately saved by a sniper hidden in the trees—Sentinel, a Gargoyle arcanist. Sentinel reveals that she assassinated the Colonel because he was secretly working with Manus. Marsha begs her to provide proof to the Foundation so they can save the peace talks, but Sentinel severely distrusts the Foundation and refuses, leaving Marsha behind. Marsha returns to the safe zone and reports to Creius. Creius pairs Marsha with a fellow squadmate in "XII" Paravyan (Beagle). They are sent to search an abandoned village for clues regarding Manus. While there, they are suddenly ambushed by a Manus armored vehicle and hit by an explosion. Before the Manus soldiers can finish them off, Sentinel arrives and destroys the armored vehicle with her anti-tank rifle. Years ago, during the WWI, Marsha and Sentinel fought a desperate, bloody melee against one another. During this fight, Marsha suffered severe slashing wounds to her hands, and Sentinel believed she had killed her. Sentinel is shocked and guilt-ridden, realizing Marsha is the knight she thought she had killed. However, Marsha harbors no resentment. She explains that she actually used her "death" in that battle as an opportunity to escape the senseless war. Afterward, she saved and recruited by the Foundation. Marianne guides Marsha to a hidden, magically concealed Gargoyle monastery. There, Marsha meets Marianne's family, including her hospitable Aunt Madeleine, her fanatic cousin Ladislas, and Agnès, a young Gargoyle who petrified herself out of fear of the war. Marianne entrusts Marsha with a bag filled with years of evidence she had painstakingly collected. The bag contains letters, maps, and lists proving that Manus has infiltrated the high command of every warring nation in Europe to intentionally prolong the bloodshed. Marsha brings this evidence back to Creius, which the Foundation uses to spark a political purge of Manus collaborators and a successful (though temporary) ceasefire. During the ceasefire, Marsha and Marianne reunite in a serene field near an old windmill. Marsha easily tames a wandering black warhorse (which she treats like an "oversized hunting dog") and pulls Marianne onto the horse's back for a joyful, peaceful ride through the meadow. It is a rare moment of happiness for both women. Marianne admits that after the war, she wants to move to Paris and open a clothing store. Marsha eagerly promises to visit her and asks Marianne to tailor-make a parade dress for her. Their peaceful moment is interrupted when Marsha's communicator beeps. Just as the ceasefire is about to be signed in Montpaix, Manus Vindictae drops its disguise and launches a massive, desperate offensive using an underground fortress (Hill 299) and an army of pure-blooded arcanists. During the chaotic trench battles that follow, Marsha acts as a frontline medic, frantically setting up a dressing station in the mud to treat severely wounded soldiers while Creius and Marianne execute a suicide mission to blow up the Manus fortress with explosives. Later, she arrives on the Don River steppe and leads a detachment of soldiers and a field medical team into the village of Tamarovka to reinforce the Zeno Cavalry Corps, who are preparing to fight off local warlords and bandits. Shortly after settling into an abandoned house in the village, Marsha notices a bizarre "fiddler crab" trying to escape into the grass. When cornered, the crab's arcane disguise drops, revealing Merel (Blackbird)—a young arcanist who recently deserted Marsha's "XII" Squad. She scolds Merel for her naive belief that she can hide from the Storm by blending in with the locals. Marsha insists that she must bring Merel back to Creius, but promises to try and protect her from severe punishment. When a group of angry Zeno cavalrymen surround a house to attack two innocent arcanist children (Whose uncle had joined the enemy bandits), Marsha steps right into the middle of the mob. She effortlessly holds back the aggressive soldiers until Commander Ivan Burakov arrives to break up the fight. While traveling toward the city of Bereggrad with Merel and a young local soldier named Sergey, Marsha explains that she was trained in a secluded Order to become a knight. Because she was initially physically weak, she was heavily bullied by the older squires. However she eventually overcame them all to earn her knighthood. She confesses that she used to view knighthood and war as a romantic pursuit of ideals, but witnessing the brutal reality of actual warfare completely shattered her naive worldview. When Vertin goes into an underground laboratory beneath Bereggrad, the city is suddenly bombarded by the warlord Krutov and the cultists of Manus. Marsha clears a path through the enemy forces, safely escorting Vertin and Sonetto back to the Zeno Commander. However, while the Foundation members prepare to evacuate, Marsha volunteers to stay behind in the besieged city to assist the local militia and protect the civilian medical staff. Merel, inspired by Marsha, decides to stop running away and stays by her side. The situation takes a horrifying turn when a horse gallops up to the city gates carrying Charon. Charon has been captured, tortured, and physically shattered by Krutov. His broken body radiates a terrifying, supernatural aura of "death" that causes the cavalrymen to scatter in panic and brings Merel to her knees in hysterical tears. Immune to the psychological terror of Charon's aura, she calmly walks up to his mangled body, listens to Krutov's ultimatum, and brings Charon to a sealed basement. She snaps Merel out of her panic and guides the young girl in repairing Charon's shattered physical vessel. While tending to Charon, Merel reports that Manus soldiers have infiltrated the city. Noticing blood on a discarded piece of gauze, Marsha deduces that the cultists are injured and have raided a nearby medical facility. She sends Merel to get reinforcements while she rushes to the Pokrov Children's Hospital alone. Inside, she finds Manus soldiers holding injured children hostage. Marsha sneaks into the room, knocks out the Manus officer with a heavy strike to the skull, and quickly herds the terrified children into a small storeroom under the stairs. As the cultists begin to smash the door down with axes, Marsha distracts and comforts the crying children by telling them a fairytale "Knight in White" (her own backstory). Marsha holds the door and protects the children at the cost of her own safety until Merel and the militia finally arrive to rescue them. After the allied forces defeat Krutov and save the Don River region, Marsha rests in the city, writing a letter to Marianne about the incredible bravery of the civilians. She is interrupted by Yermolai (Hound), fellow squadmate in "XII". Yermolai hands Marsha a "secret order" signed by their commander, Creius, dated before Merel's desertion. The document is a fake, cleverly created by Creius to retroactively make Merel's desertion look like a "classified undercover mission." Her superior has decided to forgive the young girl. Marsha returning to the Foundation.
