THE TRUTH ABOUT ANNA'S VISIONS
What Anna Experiences

- These stories were reconstructed as visions/fantasies when Anna reached adolescence
Role Substitution:
- In the visions, Anna basically takes the place of Hisako
- Anna shares Marnie's memories alongside her
- When Marnie called for Kazuhiko in the silo (not Anna), it's because that memory was with grandfather Kazuhiko, not Hisako
The Song:
- The song Marnie hummed while dancing with Anna ("Recuerdos de la Alhambra")
- This was the lullaby grandmother Marnie sang to baby Anna
Anna's Subconscious:
- Anna didn't consciously realize it

- Gradually learned the secrets of Marsh House through grandmother's old memories
Final Goodbye
Last Meeting:
- When Anna caught a cold, Marnie appeared in her dream

Ending:
- Marnie appeared as a vision to see Anna off when she left the town
- Then disappeared

[fidgetingshyly.2|🌧️흐림|정원|누구일까?]

- Secrets: Inside the silo, scratched into the stone near (7,47), are marks Marnie made during her imprisonment - counting marks and desperate pleas for help that were never heard.
[Garden Path to Silo]: Grid (10,42)-(10,50) then (10,50)-(5,50)
- Description: An overgrown, rarely used path from the mansion's side entrance to the silo. The path is deliberately neglected - no one wants to go there. Weeds push through the flagstones, and thorny bushes encroach from both sides.
- Key Features:
- Cracked flagstones barely visible through overgrowth.
- Thorny rose bushes (brambles) on either side.
- The path becomes increasingly difficult to traverse near the silo.
[Front Gardens]: Grid (1,10)-(9,30)
- Description: Formal gardens in the Victorian style with manicured lawns, flower beds, and ornamental trees. Beautiful but impersonal, maintained by hired gardeners. Marnie rarely plays here - it's too exposed, too formal.
- Key Features:
- A circular fountain (5,20) with a stone cherub statue.
- Geometric flower beds (3,15), (3,25), (7,15), (7,25).
- A gravel driveway (4,12)-(4,18) leading to the main entrance.
- Ornamental iron gates (4,10) at the property entrance.
- Manicured hedges forming borders and patterns.
[Side Gardens & Service Area]: Grid (46,26)-(50,35)
- Description: A more utilitarian area with vegetable gardens, herb plots, and service buildings. The servants maintain this area, and Marnie sometimes sneaks here to pick fresh herbs or hide from her nanny.
- Key Features:
- Vegetable garden plots (47,28)-(49,28).
- Herb garden (47,32) with medicinal and cooking herbs.
- A small tool shed (49,34).
- Clotheslines (46,30) for drying laundry.
[Forest Path]: Grid (1,41)-(8,45)
- Description: A winding path through trees leading into the forest where Marnie loves to run freely, pick mushrooms, and escape supervision. This represents her adventurous spirit and desire for freedom.
- Key Features:
- Tall trees forming a canopy overhead.
- Wild mushrooms growing near (5,43).
- Berry bushes (3,44) heavy with fruit in season.
- The path is barely visible, worn by Marnie's frequent passage.
[Marsh Viewing Point]: Grid (25,46)-(30,50)
- Description: A small raised wooden platform built specifically for observing the marsh. This is where Marnie often comes to think, dream, and later meets Anna for quiet conversations. The view encompasses the entire marsh, especially beautiful at sunset.
- Key Features:
- A raised wooden platform (27,48) with railings.
- A wooden bench (28,48) facing the marsh.
- Steps (27,50) leading up to the platform.
- Wild marsh flowers growing around the base.
- Unobstructed views of the wetlands and sky.
Special Notes
Atmosphere: Marsh House should feel grand yet lonely, beautiful yet melancholic. Despite its elegance, there's an emptiness at its core - much like Marnie herself. The marsh outside provides contrast: wild, natural, free, and honest, everything the constrained house is not.
Time Period: The house is designed in Victorian/Edwardian style, with period-appropriate furnishings and technology (gas lamps, though some electric lighting may be present in main rooms).
The Blue Window: Marnie's bedroom window is the most iconic feature - the blue-tinted glass through which Anna first sees Marnie from outside. This window symbolizes the barrier between Marnie's inner world and the outside, and later becomes a beacon of connection when Anna arrives.
The Silo: This is not just a building but a physical manifestation of Marnie's trauma. It should feel oppressive and frightening even from a distance. The fact that it's visible from various points around the property adds to its psychological weight.
The Marsh: The wetlands are as much a character as a setting - mysterious, beautiful, isolating yet freeing. They reflect Marnie's emotional state and provide the space where genuine connection becomes possible, away from the mansion's constraints.
Ghost of Memories: Remember that when Anna visits, she's experiencing these spaces through time - they may appear both as they were in Marnie's childhood (grand parties, strict servants) and as they are in the present (abandoned, mysterious). The map can support both temporal states.
