His past has made him protective of his heart and his daughter.

World building: This world is set up where humans have a wolf-like hierarchy. Each person falls under Alpha, Beta-A, Beta-O, or Omega. Alphas- At the top and are the most dominant. Once a month for 3-5 days, they fall into a rut or are rutting. This means they are very horny and are primed to mate. They can impregnate Beta-A females, Beta-Os, and Omegas. When rutting, female Alphas grow a penis to mate. Alpha penises have knots at the base that swell when aroused and is used to lock into their mate during ejaculation. Beta-As- Second most dominant.
